@ComicCaper also see that you can 1*2*3, store that value, and get it multiplied by 4, store and so on.
@ComicCaper you dont need to multiply all at once

check boxes instead.

Garrus Napp
@GarrusNapp
Oct 03 2016 01:27
@xSpideyx you dont give a par any value. The value is given you when the function is called
@xSpideyx see at the top where your function is named it accepts two arguments. name (x, y) I don't rmemeber the names but it looks like that
@xSpideyx they want you to compare x to y to see how they differ. if the first one is strokes, and 2nd par then you compare. If par == 5 and strokes == 5 then it means he hit the par and you should return* whatever they wanted in that case

Nest all of your radio buttons inside one div with the class row.
Nest each of your radio buttons inside its own div with the class col-xs-6.
<div class="row">

Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100%.

what i did was

<style>
.red-text {
font-size: 16px;
color: red;
}
</style>

Dylan
@dhcodes
Oct 03 2016 03:28
@kaylecabildo you gave attributes to a class, how do you think you would give attributes to an html element like p
?
you are currently adding the font-size to your class, and need to add it to the p elements

i need to create a class called "smaller-image" and us it to resize the image so that its only 100px wide
i don't know where it goes
LPR-309
@LPR-309
Oct 03 2016 04:10

@NamasteX Okay, first, you have to define a "smaller-image" class. You do that inside the <style> tags.

<style>
.larger-image {
width: 500px;
}
</style>

When you're defining a class or ID, you have to include the period (class) or # (ID) before the name

Then, after that, you have to add the class to your <img> element in the code using the class= attribute. <img class="someclass">
nabinsademba
@nabinsademba
Oct 03 2016 04:12
u give your image tag class of smaller image like this <img class="smaller-image"/> @NamasteX
NamasteX
@NamasteX
Oct 03 2016 04:12
<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
.smaller-image {
width: 100px
}
}
</style>
nabinsademba
@nabinsademba
Oct 03 2016 04:12
and then style it in your style tag like this <style> .smaller-image{ width:100px;}</style>
ok now you got to assign the .smaller-image class to your image tag in html
@NamasteX give your image tag class="smaller-image"
NamasteX
@NamasteX
Oct 03 2016 04:15
<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
class."smaller-image" {
width: 100px
}
}
</style>
nabinsademba
@nabinsademba
Oct 03 2016 04:15
u havent given your img tag class="smaller-image" that will do the work

Darren
@DarrenfJ
Oct 03 2016 04:36
@xSpideyx first off you can cover the first case if you change you Hole-in-one to Hole-in-one!
@xSpideyx so then let's go through the cases...
May
@xSpideyx
Oct 03 2016 04:37
alright
Darren
@DarrenfJ
Oct 03 2016 04:38
if (strokes == -2 && par == -2) {
    return "Eagle";
  }
ok, for eagle, strokes needs to be <= par -2
this will only ever return Eagle if strokes is at -2
bu strokes is a positive number... it's the number of golf strokes you took.
to sink the ball
and if the hole is say 5 strokes for par.. then 3 strokes will be an eagle
@xSpideyx got that so far?
May
@xSpideyx
Oct 03 2016 04:40
yeah
Darren
@DarrenfJ
Oct 03 2016 04:41
so you will get a bunch of sifferent test cases.. with a stroke and a par.. not just the first example.. of (5, 4)
so some of your other if statements seem hard coded to those valus.. for example:
if (strokes == 4 && par == 4) {
    return "Par";
  }
par is returned anytime strokes == par
and for various test cases you will get different par and strokes (that's all teh red x's on the left side.. different test cases...)
May
@xSpideyx
Oct 03 2016 04:43
ok
Darren
@DarrenfJ
Oct 03 2016 04:43

so they give you this table:
Strokes Return
1 "Hole-in-one!"
<= par - 2 "Eagle"
par - 1 "Birdie"
par "Par"
par + 1 "Bogey"
par + 2 "Double Bogey"

= par + 3 "Go Home!"

Inside your style element, change the h2 selector to .red-text and update the color's value from blue to red.

Give your h2 element the class attribute with a value of 'red-text'.
here it is

@jondfin "The HTML <span> element is a generic inline container for phrasing content, which does not inherently represent anything. It can be used to group elements for styling purposes (using the class or id attributes), or because they share attribute values, such as lang. It should be used only when no other semantic element is appropriate. <span> is very much like a <div> element, but <div> is a block-level element whereas a <span> is an inline element."

@jondfin people use it to target a specific part of a line to change a color or something like that.. say for just one word or something

@phuvu3725 ok. so you have to create a CSS section for that one I think.. with teh <style></style> tags..

.className {

}

}
// this line is to replay the audio
//STRICT FAIL ISNT TRIGGERING
else {
a++;
}
if (pSeq.length === cSeq.length && wasRight == 1) {
pSeq = [];
roundVal++;
$("#round").html("Round: " + roundVal);
a = 0;
setTimeout(function() {

function lastSeq() {
for (c = cSeq[0]; c <= cSeq.length; c++) {
audioF[cSeq[c].toLowerCase()].play();
}

console.log("tried to play", cSeq);

Why wont lastSeq play the sound from cSeq? it recognises it as can be seen in the console.log but it wont execute the sound?

@Personacode you use all three :)
Personacode
@Personacode

I know, but let's say I want to add a picture; does it matter if I add it through css or html?
Richard Smith
@r1chard5mith
Oct 03 2016 07:17
@Personacode you tell the html where to get the picture from
you tell the css how to style the picture
the only exception I know would be setting background images, which I have done in css before
mysia3
@mysia3
Oct 03 2016 07:19
@LPR-309 But this doesnt work
function lookUpProfile(firstName, prop){
// Only change code below this line
for (var i=0; i < contacts.length; i++) {
  if (contacts[i].firstName == firstName){
   if (contacts[i].hasOwnProperty(prop)) {
     return contacts[i][prop];

  return "No such contact";}
}

}
Richard Smith
@r1chard5mith
Oct 03 2016 07:21
contacts.length - 1
?
no forget that
looks right, eh?
@mysia3 oh, I see...
it will return something even on the first pass through the loop
so, if the first one doesn't match, it will still return
it will never get to the second item
mysia3
@mysia3
Oct 03 2016 07:24
@r1chard5mith Does that mean you cant ever use two ELSEs in a nested IF statement?
Richard Smith
@r1chard5mith
Oct 03 2016 07:24
no you can
all you need to do here, I think is remove the last else statement
you only want to return "so such..." once you've been through the whole loop
mysia3
@mysia3
Oct 03 2016 07:25
yep I know this is right
function lookUpProfile(firstName, prop){
// Only change code below this line
for (var i=0; i < contacts.length; i++) {
  if (contacts[i].firstName == firstName){
   if (contacts[i].hasOwnProperty(prop)) {

   } else {
     return "No such property";
   }
  }
}
    return "No such contact";

// Only change code above this line
}
But I'm wondering how to do it with two elses
Richard Smith
@r1chard5mith
Oct 03 2016 07:26

mysia3

@r1chard5mith I know I don't need it but I know it can be done. I just want to do it because I wanna understand nesting ifs and elses more deeply
Richard Smith
@r1chard5mith
Oct 03 2016 07:31
@mysia3 well - you can nest them the way you did
you can do it the way you did, but the bottom else doesn't match a return condition in this problem

Can someone tell me where I'm missing a closing tag?

<div class="col-xs-6"><label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> Outdoor</label></div>

<div class="col-xs-6"><label><input type="checkbox" name="personality"> Lazy</label></div>

<input type="text" placeholder="cat photo URL" required>
<div class="col-xs-6"><button type="submit">Submit</button></div>
</form>
</div>

Richard Smith
@r1chard5mith
Oct 03 2016 07:38
@NolanU you're not closing the inputs
you have way too many columns btw
and I'm not sure you can put a <form> between your row and col divs like that
NolanU
@NolanU
Oct 03 2016 07:40

I do? The instructions are to...

"Nest all of your radio buttons within a <div class="row"> element. Then nest each of them within a <div class="col-xs-6"> element."

Richard Smith
@r1chard5mith
Oct 03 2016 07:40
@NolanU sure
the container contains rows
and the rows contain col divs
that add up to 12
so one <div class="row"> for your radio buttons
they can have col-xs-6 because only two of them
the others need their own row
and you close the inputs with a />

hey guys
need help on this challenge - Escape Sequences in Strings

You will need to use escape sequences to insert special characters correctly. You will also need to follow the spacing as it looks above, with no spaces between escape sequences or words.

Here is the text with the escape sequences written out.

FirstLinenewlinebackslashSecondLinebackslashcarriage-returnThirdLine

myStr should have encoded text with the proper escape sequences and no spacing.
myStr should have one newline character \n
myStr should have one carriage return character \r
myStr should have two correctly escaped backslash characters \

hello! the task: Make the second child in each of your well elements bounce. You must target the children of element with the target class.

the code: $(".well:nth-child(2)").addClass("animated bounce");

do you see any issue with the code?

@Personacode u need to give them class or id
i guess in this task u need to give your p element class="red-text" or somthing like that
or u nedd to select the p using parent-child selector
or may be css selector

Oct 03 2016 09:28
it will be difficult while using css selectors later on
if u want to give same style to p1 and p2 u need to style it twice
but if u use general form u can use class or id to select multiple at a time
Personacode
@Personacode
Oct 03 2016 09:30
how would I assign my p elements a class then?
