Uh, criticism. Padding around certain stuff would make it look more clean so it isn't hugging the div wall at all times. Some stuff isn't centered properly

So, I'm making a phone out of css but i want to add some text to the screen and I'm stuck at that part.
  <div id="iphone">

                <div class="cam">
                    <div class="lens">&nbsp;</div>
                </div>

                <div class="speaker">
                    <div class="sound">&nbsp;</div>
                </div>

                <div class="screen">
                    <div class="button">
                        <div class="square">&nbsp;</div>
                        <div class="text"><p>hello</p></div>
                    </div>

                </div>
            </div>

this is driving me crazy i can not get this right and it is so simple
Your p element should contain the first few words of the provided additional kitty ipsum text.

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
p{
font-size:16px;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p class="red-text">Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>
<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff </p>

If you put borders around each bit of your content you'll see exactly where it starts and ends, it helps give a visual of where it is. That's why some of your stuff isn't centered, you have stuff floating left and right which might look good at a set screen width, but if you want it to be responsive it will need a lot more work @rhinobite

@Monicalada look for your img element. you already have a class within it already
all u have to do after the smaller-image class is add the other
it will look like this
<img class="smaller-image thick-green-border" src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. ">
u can multiple classes with in the same brankets, as long as u have a space in between

You can add multiple classes to an element by separating them with a space. class="class1 class2"
So add that new class in with your old one

@codingpower See how you did the silver-background class in your style tag? Make one exactly like it, but green. And then inside of your form tag put class="green-background"
codingpower
@codingpower
Oct 09 2016 00:52
But it says do not give your form any class or style attributes
Give your form element the id of cat-photo-form.
Your form element should have the background-color of green.
Make sure your form element has an id attribute.
Do not give your form any class or style attributes.

Use an ID Attribute to Style an Element
Niall
@niallgcm
Oct 09 2016 00:58
@codingpower You need to nest your form in a <div> with the class="green-background".
@codingpower do you know what nesting is, or what divs are used for?

@Girzima Also, so both CSS and HTML are used simultaneously? How can I recognize this in order to know format
codingpower
@codingpower
Oct 09 2016 01:01
@niallgcm?
Niall
@niallgcm
Oct 09 2016 01:01
@codingpower OH my bad. You are supposed to be using an ID attribute. ID's are created in your style section using a #. So it should look like #green-background {color:green;}
and then give your div or form an ID
and that id should ="green-background"
Girzima
@Girzima
Oct 09 2016 01:04
@Monicalada It doesn't matter unless you use multiple of the same things. For example, using a backup color in case the main one doesn't work. CSS will read top to bottom so the most top would be the backup and the most bottom would be the chosen "active" one. I wouldn't worry too much about that right now
@Monicalada HTML is read and CSS content follows. HTML is the bones/body of a webpage, CSS is the clothes/makeup. It can work without it but it won't be pretty
Does that answer your question?

Dylan
@dhcodes

Jeff Greenlee
@JeffGreenlee42
Oct 09 2016 03:13
@dhcodes Yeah... I discovered a problem with using simple opacity.. and that is that nested <div> will have the same opacity... So it defeats the goal of making the text stand out over the background image.
Dylan

hey all! I need some help. For some reason he challenge I'm on won't go through. The only step that isn't checked off is "Create a script element making sure it is valid and has a closing tag." The problem is, I can't figure out what's wrong with the closing tag! Here's what I have

<script $(document).ready(function(){});></script>
<!-- Only change code above this line. -->

<div class="container-fluid">
<h3 class="text-primary text-center">jQuery Playground</h3>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#left-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="left-well">
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target1">#target1</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target2">#target2</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target3">#target3</button>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#right-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="right-well">
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target4">#target4</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target5">#target5</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target6">#target6</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>

I figured it out!

@JeffGreenlee42 1 trick I learned to debug this problem is that, when you display this page in chrome, right-click the element and select "inspect". it will show all the properties. from there you can click the hypelink <some bootsrap...> and you will go to the element that is actually set this color and you can then figure out how to override it

Hi, i have a problem with Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors. I have a code like this:
$(document).ready(function() {
$("button").addClass("animated bounce");
$(".btn").addClass("shake");
$("#target1").addClass("btn-primary");
});
And i dont know why i cant fulfill this request: Only add one class with each of your three selectors.
tanglongyang
@tanglongyang
Oct 09 2016 08:59

ok,

<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#target1").parent().css("backgroudcolor", "red");
$("#target1").prop("disabled", true);
$("#target4").remove();
$("#target2").appendTo("#right-well");
$("#target5").clone().appendTo("#left-well");

$("#left-well").parent().css("background-color","red");
});
</script>

Your left-well element should have a red background.
@Mietlovic $(document).ready(function() {
$("button").addClass("animated");
$(".btn").addClass("shake");
$("#target1").addClass("btn-primary");
$("#target1").addClass("animated");
$("#target1").addClass("shake");
});

im nesting and i element within my button

<button class="btn btn-block btn-primary"><i class="fa fa -thumbs-up"></i>Like</button>

but it only checks me on the bottom 2

Add an i element with the classes fa and fa-thumbs-up.
Your fa-thumbs-up icon should be located within the Like button.
Nest your i element within your button element.
Make sure your i element has a closing tag.

whats wrong ?

Trying to run this code on code pen but I get
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#getQuote").on("click", function(){
$.getJSON("http://quotesondesign.com/wp-json/posts", function(json){
$("#quote").html(json.content);
$("#author").html(json.title);
})
})
})
I get this error XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://quotesondesign.com/wp-json/posts. No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource. Origin 'http://s.codepen.io' is therefore not allowed access.
