hah, not really I popped into the help channel just to have something to do while the debate is going in the background
hey @massera <div class="something"></div>
as far as I know you can have class and id and whatever else in whatever order
massera
@massera
Oct 10 2016 00:38
@dtzitz Oh Thanks! Can you not add a <style> tag just after the <div> then?

Oct 10 2016 00:40
I'm supposed to add a background class and it's not working
Dylan Zitzmann
@dtzitz
Oct 10 2016 00:41
so you would add the class to the div and then define the background in the style
so

Oct 10 2016 00:45
ahh so @massera you're going to want to create a class in a similar fashion to say smaller-image and then add it to that top div tag
massera
@massera
Oct 10 2016 00:47
@dtzitz Oh wow! But why is it that in the first style tag I don't need to create that class beforehand?

Oct 10 2016 00:49
the order in which you add the class to the div tag and adding the class to the style basically shouldn't matter, they both need to be there in order for it to be correct

Have a question
Do I really need to call Google for one of the challenges???
or is the call an element I need to add??
I am sorry for my ignorance

@sarevalo92 I'm not sure which challenge you're working on, but yes, in the HTML challenges I've completed, the exercise specified the location from which to make the call (e.g., Google). Hope this helps.

use a CSS class to style an element and it keeps saying "your h2 element should have the class red-text" and idk what im doing wrong this is what i have:

<style>
h2 {
color:red;
}
</style>

<h2>CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

<style>
.red-text{

@TheKurda right, and do you see a h2 element in the html?
Lenordo AlisaLastName
@TheKurda
Oct 10 2016 03:50

Use CSS Selectors to Style Elements
With CSS, there are hundreds of CSS properties that you can use to change the way an element looks on your page.

When you entered <h2 style="color: red">CatPhotoApp</h2>, you were giving that individual h2 element an inline style.

That's one way to add style to an element, but a better way is by using CSS, which stands for Cascading Style Sheets.

At the top of your code, create a style element like this:

<style>
</style>
Inside that style element, you can create a CSS selector for all h2 elements. For example, if you wanted all h2 elements to be red, your style element would look like this:

<style>
h2 {color: red;}
</style>
Note that it's important to have both opening and closing curly braces ({ and }) around each element's style. You also need to make sure your element's style is between the opening and closing style tags. Finally, be sure to add the semicolon to the end of each of your element's styles.

Delete your h2 element's style attribute and instead create a CSS style element. Add the necessary CSS to turn all h2 elements blue.

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {

Hi All,

Bootstrap learning, pls help. Many thanks!

How am I going to:

1) nest EACH of below Bootstrap buttons within its own div element with the class col-xs-4

2) while making sure ALL the Bootstrap buttons are nested within the same div element with the class row. (So far I got this part right.)

My codes read like this:

<div class=“row”>
<button class=btn btn-block btn-primary”>Like</button <button class=btn btn-block btn-info”>Info</button>
<button class=btn btn-block btn-danger>Delete</button></div>
</div>

i have tried everything
but i can't change the img to a smaller-image

I don't think it really helps people if you just do the challenges for them, it's a waste of time anyway because the solutions are not hard to find if that's what people want - all you have to do is look at the profile page of anyone who's already completed them.

<style>
.red-text {

}
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p class="red-text">Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>
<p> Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched. </p>

A couple of incosistencies in your code:
1: you called the class silver-bacground (missing a k) , but then add the class -> <div class="silver-background"> (with the K.. for the machine are two different things)

and second @HOVoka , you can declare multiple elements with the same property:

div, p {
  color: red;
}

By doing so ALL my DIV and P will have the color red...

In your code are you sure you want multiple element to share same property?
( you declared div and silver-background)

And finally @HOVoka read this tip to learn to format you code in chat like i did

@vkrmmlk for that regards: you have two classes with two different properties (pink and blue text) added to the same element.
CSS will prioritize the first one declared (pink in this case), hence why you don't see the text turing blue

@LingXiangDong follow the example they give in the exercise for syntax:

@LingXiangDong get rid of the word button

look at the example:

@LingXiangDong follow the example they give in the exercise for syntax:
"Here's an example of a radio button:

<label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> Indoor</label>"

that's righ from the exercise.. and there's no 'button' in it

unsure how to nest all html with .container-fluid
Darren
@DarrenfJ
Oct 10 2016 09:08
@raynaldfernandez first problem is you don;t need the bootstrap link at the top
they say they've already added it 'behind the scenes'
second issue is your <div></div> at the bottom.. it actually needs to go 'around' all the html
you need the first part.. the <div class ="..."> to go above all the html (under the last </style> tag)
leave the </div> at the bottom as is
