Your h1 element should have the class pink-text.
Your h1 element should have the class blue-text.

Oh and @markayd the thin @savajon is saying is that the ID div is where it picks colors from, later on you will see that by adding those and adding other things you can control it alot more :)
Jon Savage
@savajon
Oct 12 2016 00:18

@markayd it comes later in the game of that excersie. But in theory you can add multiple one but the last one is the one that "controls" it so from what i would say ^ earlier it would turn purple :P
Jon Savage
@savajon
Oct 12 2016 00:21
the actual exercise is specifically saying that if you had it say <h1 class="blue red orange purple" id="winner">, and you had #winner { color: black;} in the css, the h1 would be black
Mark Aydelotte
@markayd
Oct 12 2016 00:22

If I have a quote that spans two lines, how do I get the second line to line up with the first letter character rather than the opening quotation mark (in html or CSS)?
@Jasonca2 I’m having a part of the quote be separated in a line break so that it looks neater.

You just have to change the smaller-image class to 100px; and that should make it better. Not necessarily the size of the webpage but the image itself.

the one you want i think is Center Text with Bootstrap
Logan Sinclair
@LoganS1
Oct 12 2016 01:42

@amgad2016 Right now you have it set to apply the red color to all <h2> tags, so you have to create a css tag by creating a class in the style element like this

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

and then do

<h2 class="red-text">

this makes it so all tags that have the class "red-text" will be red as stated in the class in the style element. Hope this helps

you initialize some variable you are keeping track of, in this case i
you then check the 2nd statement to see if the statement is true, thats the evaluator
if its true, the block gets evaluated (i.e. whats between the brackets)
after the block is evaluated the increment section is executed (i.e. i++)
so essentially the loop is iterating the length of the array, in this case 4 times

it sums the values of the array @awb715
Aaron Bell
@awb715
Oct 12 2016 02:01
wouldnt it be the length of the array
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Oct 12 2016 02:02
no, its iterating through each item in the array
so that block will run 4 times, since theres 4 items in the array
Aaron Bell
@awb715
Oct 12 2016 02:02
and then what is happening with the ++
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Oct 12 2016 02:03
when the block is finished executing, the i++ will run
then, i < array.length or whatever will be checked
if its still true, then the block will run again
basically the block will first run when i is 0, then i will be 1 which is still less than 4, then i will be 2
finally when i becomes 4, i < array.length will no longer be true so then the for loop will stop executing
and anything after the for loop will then be executed

so when you first enter the loop, i will initalize to 1
then you check i < myArr.length-1. myArr.length is 5, so 0 < 5-1 is true
oh, total isn't right either, need to use += operator so you increment value, not just replace
Aaron Bell
@awb715
Oct 12 2016 02:11
but how doesthe sum of the array matter
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Oct 12 2016 02:11
anyways with what you have you set total to myArr[i]. myArr[0] is 2, so total is now 2
block is done, now increment goes, i +=10 makes i 10 (was prev 0)
now, you evaluate i < myArr.length-1
10 < 5-1 is not true, so the loop is done

@GrizzLeeTroll you don't need to define text-center
it comes with bootstrap
so remove that style
also you only use the attribute class one time per tag

can i get help with this? You can add the fa-paper-plane Font Awesome icon by adding <i class="fa fa-paper-plane"></i> within your submit button element.

Give your form's text input field a class of form-control. Give your form's submit button the classes btn btn-primary. Also give this button the Font Awesome icon of fa-paper-plane.

i understand the code, but in terminology i am trying to grasp the difference between a selector and element
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Oct 12 2016 03:30
@juleshughan a selector is just a way to describe that you're "selecting" something, that something can be an HTML element, or a class, or an ID. While an element is, well, an HTML element

@juleshughan so,

target the p selector in jQuery would be

$("p")

target the #target1 selector in jQuery would be

$("#target1")

@Chetferguson in the lesson there's this example:

h1 {

That code, put in the <style> tags will change the font size of all the h1 elements to 30px.
Try to follow that logic and apply to the desired element and the desired size.

@ShivaShinde not really.. since I've never used a pre-made Bootstrap library.
The only time I did, I just dowloaded the file, and referenced it into my server (node.js stuff)

Probably at this point Reddit, Google and StackOverflow can help you more...

responsively style radio buttons. ....I've been stuck for a couple days. what am I missing. here are the steps. I'll post my code too. Nest all of your radio buttons inside one div with the class row.
Nest each of your radio buttons inside its own div with the class col-xs-6.
Make sure each of your div elements has a closing tag.
<div class="row">
<div class="col-xs-6">
<button class="btn btn-block btn-primary"><i class="fa fa-thumbs-up"></i> Like</button>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-6">
<button class="btn btn-block btn-info"><i class="fa fa-info-circle"></i> Info</button>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-6">
<button class="btn btn-block btn-danger"><i class="fa fa-trash"></i> Delete</button>

yeah but I didn't do that: here's my code that passed:
function wordBlanks(myNoun, myAdjective, myVerb, myAdverb) {
var result = "";
// Your code below this line

result = "The " + myAdjective + " " + myNoun + " " + myVerb + " " + myAdverb;

// Your code above this line
return result;
}

// Change the words here to test your function
wordBlanks("dog", "big", "ran", "quickly");

i am doing this section ---"Change Text Inside an Element Using jQuery" and i cant get passed it. it is telling me i am missing this "Make sure to select button id="target4" with jQuery."
$("button").html("<em>#target4</em>");
this is what i tried
and i have tried replacing the "button with "target4"
and even "button id="target4"
dylansoars
@dylansoars
Oct 12 2016 05:56
@abisthecodermal ok, so how do I make them the same height? I've seemed to have tried everything I can think of. I say this because I want the color of the boxes to stretch to be even.
Abis Mal
@abisthecodermal
Oct 12 2016 05:56
@Mikecar91 <em> is HTML. It has no place in jquery
Mike
@Mikecar91
Oct 12 2016 05:57
its telling me to use that
$("h3").html("<em>jQuery Playground</em>");
this was the example ^
and when i get rid of the <em> it tells me i am missing ---"Emphasize the text in your target4 button by adding HTML tags
what i cant figure out is what goes in the first set of ( )
omg
nvm
got it
lol
Abis Mal
@abisthecodermal
Oct 12 2016 06:01
:joy: that moment @Mikecar91
@dylansoars give them same height in css

like

height:100px;

@dylansoars

Also, the problem with Lorem Ipsum text is it is very uniform unlike normal text with long and short words...
hence it doesn't give an accurate idea of how an actual text will look
