Nest one div element with the class well within each of your col-xs-6 div elements.

Your #target1 element should have the classes animated‚ shake and btn-primary.

<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("button").addClass("animated");
$(".btn") .addClass("animated-shake");
$("#target1") .addClass("btn-primary");
});
</script>

<div class="container-fluid">
<h3 class="text-primary text-center">jQuery Playground</h3>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#left-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="left-well">
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target1">#target1</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target2">#target2</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target3">#target3</button>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#right-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="right-well">
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target4">#target4</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target5">#target5</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target6">#target6</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>

@tabithatab to change an img size, the <img> tag needs to include class="red-text" because the .red-text {} is what includes the change in image size. the class="blah" is what hooks up things like .red-text to the actual element that says: <img class="red-text">

@tabithatab html looks like <img> and css like .img; to hook an html element, such as a picture, and connect it to css code, like an image size, you include a class selector in the html tag, that looks like this: class="img1", so my whole image tag looks like <img src="whatever" class="img1" and then when i go to my css i can type: .img1 { } and whatever style i put inside those brackets { } will be applied to any html element that includes the class="img1" in the tag. so html and css are different, html is a thing, css is how the thing looks. does that make sense?
does anyone know how to display an image at the top of the page when viewed mobile but when viewed on a wider screen it appears between two columns?

Ian Lee
@asparism
Oct 13 2016 00:51
@robertguess you're trying to make the code NOT a comment?
@kjacksn , href links go to whatever goes in between the quote marks. href="facebook.com" goes to facebook, so to make a 'dead link', type the # instead of a web address.

@khojasahil perfect with the quotes! just remember that styling in css lets you control the way an element looks with a colon : , like color: red; in your case, you want to just place the element with html </>, so you will use the = equals sign, like href="freecatphotoblahblah" .
= in html for placement, whereas : in css for styling

here's the tricky part: CSS and HTML are different languages. anything with </> is HTML. anything with { } is CSS. Remember that HTML is for placing content, whereas CSS is for the way content looks. so...
<p>here is html placement for a paragraph of text</p>
above that, in between the <style> and </style> (these style tags are a way to put CSS inside of HTML) you would put something like this:
p { font-size: 16px;}
@khojasahil good luck!

@dongooden I infer you're finishing section bootstrap, so you have to add 2 pairs of new divs.

thus:

<div class="well" id="left-well">
</div>
<div class="well" id="right-well">
</div>

@Sevvo I'm not sure, but you think questions called "challenges", am I wrong? In my view, each subsection should have one. For example, after finishing sections jquery bootstrap and get two of them.

@mamptecnocrata nested in the div element with the col-xs-6 class

@mamptecnocrata thes are the instructions Bootstrap has a class called well that can create a visual sense of depth for your columns.

Nest one div element with the class well within each of your col-xs-6 div elements.

@mamptecnocrata this is what i need to pass..... Add a div element with the class well inside each of your div elements with the class "col-xs-6"
Nest both of your div elements with the class "col-xs-6" within your div element with the class "row".
Make sure all your div elements have closing tags.

Changing it to text would be better in my opinion since it's so basic but if you're just trying to learn
I mean, padding-top wouldn't hurt
LPR-309
@LPR-309
Oct 13 2016 02:09

This solution is off CSS-Tricks, it works for static sized divs/ images. You should be able to adjust the percent / margin to inch it down if necessary.

.parent {
  position: relative;
}
.child {
  position: absolute;
  top: 50%;
  height: 100px;
  margin-top: -50px; /* account for padding and border if not using box-sizing: border-box; */
}

https://css-tricks.com/centering-css-complete-guide/

Child would be the image, parent would be the enclosing div, etc.

Manish Giri

Oct 13 2016 02:13

@tabithatab once step 1 is done, you need to link this class to the existing img element in your html, don't create a new one like you've done now

Girzima
@Girzima

padding-top or top works
but it still collapses on itself because you used weird column lengths
That's the problem using a horizontal image in your header. When you collapse the screen it won't look great without resizing it
i mean your nav
Your content will hit each other and you'll have to adjust it for when it does

@dpkezio headers move from h1 to h6, depending size desired. p, however, has only one size, unless you change that size manually. for your kitty ipsum dolor text, you'll want to use the CSS class selector that only says p {font-size: 16px;}

h1 needs to inherit the color green from the body element
Ian Lee
@asparism
Oct 13 2016 03:26
having your background-color: green; and your color: green; may cause you to just see... green. setting the background-color: black; for example, and then the color: green; should change the text in the body to green.
i do notice you have a hyphen in front of your color, so maybe change color: green;
to just color

excuse me, maybe change ~~~
-color: green;

to be just

color: green;
~~~
ugh sorry
@Jab19 for border styles, it's easy to keep it one line as follows: border: 1px solid #fff
and make sure your class
is declared in the same line
ID's is for an element that will not repeat on your page / markup. for example a for with an id of signup.
Class's is for an elements that will repeat for example a div with an class of CTA(call to action) that will be shown in the header of the page and ones again above the footer element.
Change the Color of Text
Now let's change the color of some of our text.
We can do this by changing the style of your h2 element.
The style that is responsible for the color of an element's text is the "color" style.
Here's how you would set your h2 element's text color to blue:
<h2 style="color: blue">CatPhotoApp</h2>
Change your h2 element's style so that its text color is red.
Run tests (ctrl + enter)
Reset Help Bug
Your h2 element should be red.
$("button").addClass("animated bounce");
5
$(".well").addClass("animated shake");
6
$("#target3").addClass("animated fadeOut");
$("button").removeClass("btn-default");
To follow these instructions Remove the btn-default class from all of your button elements.
Only use jQuery to remove this class from the element.
Only remove the btn-default class.
Which was right but I don't understand why
So is btn-default the part after addClass?
tyrionL
@tyrionL
Oct 13 2016 06:54
@00Serendipity @00Serendipity , bootstrap has some predined classes like Btn-default, btn-danger.. they are the simply the buttons used under different contexts like you see in facebook when you signup or like you see red colored scary button when you are trying to delete something. hahah
@vuvu10 , add this in your style sheet. #cat-photo-form{
background-color: green; and delete your form you wrote
@00Serendipity , nope. it's form jquery
@00Serendipity , jQuery with bootstrap.. addClass() comes from jquery and those btn-* classes from bootstrap. infact bootstrap is built using jquery. haha
anyone play with flexbox. is it native to css3? will it make twitter bootstrap obsolete? i hard a lot of production companies are using flexbox vs other css tools.. does freecodecamp teach flexbox?
nope FCC doesn't teach flexbox @ricky11
i wouldn't say it makes bootstrap obsolete, they're different tools. Bootstrap is more for prototyping and getting something up quick
This was a pretty good game tutorial on how it works http://www.flexboxdefense.com/
I have a question, i did the use a class to style an element where it introduces the .blue-text class and i got it right but i don't know if i did it in the way i was supposed to do it
<style>
.red-text {color: red;}
</style>
<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>
<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>
silly question
but just curious
