Hey all,
I'm looking for some documentation about using javascript in your html without the script tags. I've seen this once before when someone passed an object in a route and then used javascript to loop through a section. I'm interested in doing something similar with an array . Does anyone know exactly what this is called so I can look it up

What is the code to this, i know i am stupid

p elements are the preferred element for normal-sized paragraph text on websites. P is short for "paragraph".

You can create a p element like this:

<p>I'm a p tag!</p>

Create a p element below your h2 element, and give it the text "Hello Paragraph".

@RobertVassel a few things... class="smaller-image" in your last image smaller has three 'l' ( smalller) instead of 2.
then you need to declare the name within the <style> tag
and don't forget to add the semi-colon at the end:
.smaller-image {width: 100px;}

Hey guys, I don't understand the purpose of <div>. Can someone tell me?
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Oct 24 2016 02:15
@thetechcreative think of a div as just a container to group together HTML elements, for a purpose
Lori Kirstein
@thetechcreative
Oct 24 2016 02:15
That's cool - I did figure the container part, but wondered what for?
Is it to make changes to the whole thing at once - everything contained therein?
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Oct 24 2016 02:16

@thetechcreative for instance

<h1>My page</h1>
<p>first para</p>
<img src=“…”>

now you need each of these elements to have a red background, you can do it one by one, using the element selector

@thetechcreative or, you can wrap all these elements inside a div, and just select the div in css
div {
background-color: red;
}
Lori Kirstein
@thetechcreative
Oct 24 2016 02:17
Okay. So <div> is in itself css because of its function?
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Oct 24 2016 02:17
you can do further interactive things, with JS
no, div is just a container. What it becomes depends on what you chose to do with it - style it with CSS or make it interactive with JS

i am trying to add the the numbers 0 through 4. I keep getting an error but to me the logic seems to be right . I created a loop to loop through the array. This is what i have so far in ruby :

total = 0
def addup(time)
result = 5.times{|time| total = total + time}
result
end
arr = [1,2,3,4,5,6]
addup(arr)

arr = [1,2,3,4,5]

result = arr[0]+arr1

result = result+arr2

result = result+arr3

these comments are what I am trying to create into a method.

@coderanna the addup method doesn’t seem to be able to figure out what the variable total is. So I put the variable inside the method definition, and it worked
def addup(time)
    total = 0
    result = 5.times{|time| total = total + time}
    result
end
arr = [1,2,3,4,5,6]
addup(arr)

@RuinIsProbablyTaken @JTKnox91 i changed to this ..... $(document).ready(function() {
$("button").addClass('shake');
$(".btn").addClass('bounce');
$("#target1").addClass('btn-primary');
}); .... now Your #target1 element should have the classes animated‚ shake and btn-primary.....that is unchecked

Add the animated class to all elements with type button.
Add the shake class to all the buttons with class .btn.

You didn't read the instructions carefully enough.

Oct 24 2016 04:52
@wdensign I noticed you added the class bounce instead of animated. That might be the cause of the failed test for adding all three classes to #target
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Oct 24 2016 04:52
@vonne31 but, you need to make a class for silver-background in between the style tags, through which you can then give the div a color of silver. Here’s a quick example
.pink-background {
background-color: pink;
}
