@codegirl51
Oct 28 2016 01:12

Working on prioritize one style over another. It is asking me to create a CSS class called pink-text. Right now my code looks like this:

<style>
body {
background-color: black;
font-family: Monospace;
color: green;
}
</style>

<h1>Hello World</h1>

Kyle
@konklin19
Oct 28 2016 01:13
@ilvik15 in the style sheet yes
Dylan
@Airexponent2017
Oct 28 2016 01:13
Under <style> put .red-text {color: red;}
Travis Boss
@travisboss
Oct 28 2016 01:13
@ilvik15 so in this instance you have now changed h2 to a unique class called "red-text" so in order to do that you need to change hh2 to .redtext, you also would change "red-text" to redtext.
Kyle
@konklin19
Oct 28 2016 01:13
@codegirl51 class your h1 to "pink-text"

LPR-309
@LPR-309
Oct 28 2016 01:14
@codegirl51 Classes are like that body { } selector, only they start with a period . You just need to add a pink-text class first, then you'll be able to use it.
Ilvi
@ilvik15
Oct 28 2016 01:14
I did this so far:

<style>
.redtext {
color: red;
}
</style>

<h2 class=redtext>CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

Kyle
@konklin19
Oct 28 2016 01:14
@codegirl51 then you need a .pink-text in your style sheet
Wade Anderson
@Commster101
Oct 28 2016 01:15
Can i have that withing the same curly brackets as the background-color?
Kyle

you need "" around a class name @ilvik15
LPR-309
@LPR-309
Oct 28 2016 01:16
@ilvik15 Also, I think you need a hyphen on redtext (red-text) for it to pass. The way you did it is fine (aside from those missing quotes), it's just that the class name has to match exactly on FCC

One last question, this is about !important
my code looks like this:

<style>
body {
background-color: black;
font-family: Monospace;
color: green;
}

orange-text {

color: orange;

}
.pink-text {
color: pink;
color: pink !important
}
.blue-text {
color: blue;
}
</style>

<h1 id="orange-text" class="pink-text blue-text" style="color: white">Hello World!</h1>

my question is where do i put the !important in the class

Well, 5 centuries is long enough. Since we're building a CatPhotoApp, let's use something called kitty ipsum text.

Replace the text inside your p element with the first few words of this kitty ipsum text: Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.

<p>Hello Paragraph</p>

I don't know how to do that.

Hi guys, I'm stuck on a jQuery function that's asking to clone an element and append to another well. I've input $("#target5").clone().appendTo("left-well"); into the document ready function and it's still telling me that a "copy of my target5 element should also be inside my left-well." Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

<li>flea treatment</li>
<li>thunder</li>
<li>other cats</li>

my style element looks like this: <style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

font-family: Monospace;

Emphasize the text in your target4 button by adding HTML tags.
Make sure the text is otherwise unchanged.
Do not alter any other text.
Make sure you are using .html() and not .text().
Make sure to select button id="target4" with jQuery.

p{

@longp hmmm that's weird. because I experimented with it a little on the lesson that introduces the <label> element. I removed it altogether and the text that was next to the input element (in this case it was a checkbox) stayed. The only change was that the text went from looking bold to a lighter color. This made the <label> element seem pointless. It seems like somethings missing. You can do it yourself and see. Here's the link to the lesson: https://www.freecodecamp.com/challenges/create-a-set-of-checkboxes

@JoshDeNovice might not matter atm, but when you want to have relationships with your html tags it will. look at this fiddle: http://jsbin.com/durujefono/edit?html,output you can click on the label to also interact with the <input> but when you change label to lets say <span> you can only click on the actual checkbox input to check it. Thats because <label> has a special prop of for.

@longp

you can click on the label to also interact with the <input> but when you change label to lets say <span> you can only click on the actual checkbox input to check it. Thats because <label> has a special prop of for.

So when using a label element with a checkbox input type, you can simply click on the text to fill it out. Is that its sole purpose?

hey guys, I need a bit of help. the basic layout for my site is this: boxes that link to something. then there are 2 links within those boxes that let you edit the object and delete the object. I had to use JavaScript to achieve this because it required Ajax. my problem is this: when I delete something I have it confirm that you want to delete that object. but if you hit cancel then it directs you to the object (because of the box's event listener). how can I stop this? here are the listeners:
var boxes = document.querySelectorAll('.filled.box');
for(var i = 0; i < boxes.length; i++){
    boxes[i].addEventListener('click', function(){
        window.location='/tips/' + findId(this);
    });
    boxes[i].querySelector('.edit').addEventListener('click', function(){
        window.location='/tips/' + findId(this.parentElement.parentElement) + '/edit';
    });
    boxes[i].querySelector('.destroy').addEventListener('click', function(){
        var id = findId(this.parentElement.parentElement);
        if(confirm("Are you sure?")){
            $.ajax({
                url: '/tips/' + id,
                type: 'DELETE',
                success: function(result) {
                    window.location='/tips';
                }
            });
        }
        else{

@theFreedomUnit on your first <p> element (the one under your <h2> element) inside the <a> element change the href="http://www.freecatphotoapp.com" to href="#"
basically replace the URL (http://www.freecatphotoapp.com) to a #

@yumchin if I'm understanding correctly, when it said to delete the style attribute from the h2 element, you deleted the entire element
@yumchin the style element looks right but the reason the h2 element isn't blue is because there isn't one there anymore

@JoshDeNovice I'm stuck here. Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100%.

@josephlo8318 like this? <style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
</style>

<style>
p {
font-size: 16px:
}
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p class="red-text">Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>
