Add an i element with the classes fa and fa-thumbs-up.
Your fa-thumbs-up icon should be located within the Like button.
Nest your i element within your button element.
Make sure your i element has a closing tag.

Girzima
@Girzima
Oct 31 2016 00:35
@WhiteLeaf1103 container is a bootstrap precoded class
it adjusts to certain pre-set widths
WhiteLeaf1103
@WhiteLeaf1103
Oct 31 2016 00:36
@Girzima I know but what exactly does it do? does it center things and make then fit into the center?
@Girzima Is is mainly for wells?
Girzima
@Girzima
Oct 31 2016 00:37
I don't know too much about it as I don't use it. All I know is it adjusts to certain widths to make the content inside responsive
WhiteLeaf1103
@WhiteLeaf1103
Oct 31 2016 00:38
ok. Also if Im writing a code in Notepad or something else. all I have to do is add the bootstrap link and it will automatically load with my website as I open it? @Girzima
Girzima
@Girzima
Oct 31 2016 00:38
And rows/columns need the bootstrap class to function correctly
Assuming you're using bootstrap css, just link the bootstrap css link in head
I'd recommend learning to use regular code on top of bootstrap containers so you know how they work

Oct 31 2016 00:42
Very new to this...struggling with the "size your images"

CSS has a property called width that controls an element's width. Just like with fonts, we'll use px (pixels) to specify the image's width.

For example, if we wanted to create a CSS class called larger-image that gave HTML elements a width of 500 pixels, we'd use:

<style>
.larger-image {
width: 500px;
}
</style>
Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide.

WhiteLeaf1103
@WhiteLeaf1103
Oct 31 2016 00:43
@tommymac change that class inbetween the style to the name/specs of the lesson
Girzima

Just like we labeled our wells, we want to label our buttons.

Give each of your button elements text that corresponds to its id's selector.

<h4>#left-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="left-well">
<h4>#target1</h4>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target1"></button>
<h4>#target2</h4>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target2"></button>

@GVK2205 Hi Vasanth : I am a rookie stuck with the following code
<style>
.text {color: blue;}
</style>

<h2 class="text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

The errors says :
Ensure that your stylesheet h2 declaration is valid with a semicolon and closing brace.

Can you advise on the error

@josousa82 : This is wrong: Here´s a link to… FCC tells you the exact wording to use:

Now nest your existing a element within a new p element (just after the existing h2 element) so that the surrounding paragraph says "View more cat photos", but where only "cat photos" is a link, and the rest of the text is plain text.

Oct 31 2016 03:28

@LPR-309 : Then remove the paragraph tags…

Create an a element that links to http://freecatphotoapp.com and has "cat photos" as its anchor text.

FCC will be strict about this, I believe.

Actually they are not… hmmm.

@LPR-309 Sorry there´s no logic of this type of errors happen because spaces , or even quotes, if the code was interpreted on server side, and this compiler was an emulator the typing differences between the original code where your code is compared could make difference , but doesn´t seem to be the case...is his case, the quotes are accepted, the spaces are also accepted also even in the link text, so nothing wrong there, my first try was <a href ="http://freecatphotoapp.com">cat photos</a> then I have tried like I have posted, anyway, the solution was to refresh the page and voíla :) thanks for the help

Make sure you have nested all HTML elements in .container-fluid. i'm not sure how to do this but here's my code

<style>

font-family: Monospace;

.thick-green-border {
border-color: green;
border-width: 10px;
border-style: solid;
border-radius: 50%;
}

.smaller-image {
width: 100px;
}

</style>

<div class="container-fluid"></div>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Click here for <a href="#">cat photos</a>.</p>

@bibek22 by the way you don't need that StrToArray function.
you can use word = str[i].split('');
it will split it into individual characters
also i have no idea why it isn't passing the tests. sorry
maybe you have trailing whitespace?
yes that's the problem actually. you add a space after the last word

Voltaire..
Styles are creating a class to use later..
for instance if you want some paragraphs to be blue some to be red down the line you can recall the "style" you made for that text.. by typing .blue-text above the {
Darren

@DarrenfJ a simple inheritance in TS

 class SubPerson extends Person {
         name = "Max";
    }

    let subPerson1 = new SubPerson("Anna", 'maxs');
     console.log(subPerson1);

and the corresponding JS

var __extends = (this && this.__extends) || function (d, b) {
    for (var p in b) if (b.hasOwnProperty(p)) d[p] = b[p];
    function __() { this.constructor = d; }
    d.prototype = b === null ? Object.create(b) : (__.prototype = b.prototype, new __());
};
//more crap here
var SubPerson = (function (_super) {
        __extends(SubPerson, _super);
        function SubPerson() {
            _super.apply(this, arguments);
            this.name = "Max";
        }
        return SubPerson;

Use the jQuery addClass() function to give the classes animated and shake to all your elements with the class well.
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("button").addClass("animated bounce");
$(".well") .addclass("animated shake") });
</script>

remove the "div" in that part
you don't need it.
you are only declaring the class there
it should be .silver-background {
To apply that class to the div element
you scroll down to where you see <div>
change it to <div class="silver-background">

you can always take out the href part from <a> to make it a pure dead link, but in that case you need to use styling so that it looks like a link, i.e. the hand cursor is visible on mouseover

@Smank3
Oct 31 2016 09:26
E.g if I've my own website and I put dead link won't users get lost why they can't press it?
Jeff Shapiro
@Jeff-Shapiro
Oct 31 2016 09:27
@Smank3 in an ideal situation you wouldn't release a product with a dead link as its a form of an error really
Subrata Sarkar
@emfluenceindia
Oct 31 2016 09:27
dead links are basically when building prototypes, i.e. when you are designing a website layout which is not functional yet but the look and feel would give others the idea about how the page would work
in a real website there should not be a dead link
Smank3
@Smank3
Oct 31 2016 09:28
So dead link is just for you own? Is that right?

@Smank3 coding to a convention is important. not only does it mean others can assist/take over the site. It means when you read things you can read it all with ease as the way they work will be similar

@chocobuoy I fear you're not taking into account the case where you want to push a track in a record where there's no "tracks" field already declared.
Which is the ABBA one if I recall correctly :)

Anyway what's the test(s) you're failing?

Only add one class with each of your three selectors

Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Oct 31 2016 10:26

@dsillydude this is wrong syntax:

$("button"); $(".btn"); $("#target1").addClass("animated shake btn-primary");

JQuery syntax looks like:

$(selector).action(target)

Oct 31 2016 10:28
@Marmiz ye i know.. just what do they mean when they say add one class with each of your three selectors
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Oct 31 2016 10:29

@dsillydude

$(selector).addClass(class)

for each of your 3 selector :)
