@darkflikk right, i created them before the getJSON

$.getJSON(endpointURL + '/streams/' + channels[i] + '?callback=?', function(data) {

      if (data.stream === null){
        $(tData2).css({
          color: 'red'

@Nathan80
You see how we made all of your button elements bounce? We selected them with $("button"), then we added some CSS classes to them with .addClass("animated bounce");.

You just used jQuery's .addClass() function, which allows you to add classes to elements.

First, let's target your div elements with the class well by using the $(".well") selector.

Note that, just like with CSS declarations, you type a . before the class's name.

Then use jQuery's .addClass() function to add the classes animated and shake.

For example, you could make all the elements with the class text-primary shake by adding the following to your document ready function:

$(".text-primary").addClass("animated shake");
@Nathan801 there is even an example how to do it

@darkflikk https://codepen.io/ehutchllew/pen/jVWdjR?editors=1111 Okay so putting the element creation inside the getJSON basically ensures that it grabs all the info you want, right? Whereas putting it ouside of it, renders it outside it's scope? So it doesn't have to wait for it?

You can set an element's background color with the background-color property.

For example, if you wanted an element's background color to be green, you'd put this within your style element:

.green-background {
background-color: green;
}
Create a class called silver-background with the background-color of silver. Assign this class to your div element.

you'd better use your css stylesheet

Nov 12 2016 02:02
gotcha. I will give it a try!
Pablo Varela
@slowold
Nov 12 2016 02:03
also, try not to use color name as value, it's better to use a hex identifier such as #FF0000 (that's red)
or rgb(255,0,0,1)
zamora88
@zamora88
Nov 12 2016 02:05
Where exactly do I insert that. It says create a class called silver-background with the background-color of silver. Assign this class to your div element.
Pablo Varela
@slowold
Nov 12 2016 02:06
there you go
classes are declared either in the stylesheet (.css file)
or the <style> section of the page
classes are declared with a "."
you would do that like this:
.silver-background{
   background-color: silver;
}
(i don't know if silver is a valid value)
then in the div you would put
<div class="silver-background">This has a silver background!</div>

does anyone know how ajax promises work? i can't seem to get my twitch.tv page working properly. http://codepen.io/Asparism/pen/oYbOOv

Nov 12 2016 02:20
mmm @asparism i've never used ajax like that, inside a variable, but I've seen people use it
is it triggering correctly? the data coming back?
Ian Lee
@asparism
Nov 12 2016 02:21
apparently the point is that it will wait to get the data before running the success code, but i can't tell if it's getting the data, other than a lack of error messages in the console
Pablo Varela
@slowold
Nov 12 2016 02:22
It's returning an objetct at least
yap, it's coming allright. I've added "console.log(data);" to the .done event function
you can see it there
there you can see the structure of the returned object, maybe there's some miss in a property
also, I've never found a good use for "async: false" in ajax, its made to run asynchronically
Ian Lee
@asparism
Nov 12 2016 02:29

Pablo Varela
@slowold
Nov 12 2016 02:56
you can set an image size by declaring it in a class and adding that class to the element you want
when you declare a font-family for an element, the elements nested will inherit it
unless declared otherwise
try this
<style>
body {
       color: green;
       font-family: Monospace;
}
</style>
if h1 doesn't inhert there, then add
body h1{
       font-family: Monospace;
}
but i don't think it'll be necesary

@willstanleyus but how to will class?
Pablo Varela
@slowold
Nov 12 2016 03:01
.smaller-image {
      width: 100px;
}
then you add the class to the image you what to be a "smaller-image"
like this:
<img class="smaller-image" src="greatimage.png">

Nest all of your checkboxes inside one div with the class row.
Nest each of your checkboxes inside its own div with the class col-xs-4.

@gandledorf:

<style>
 selector {

selector:
if it is a class: add . before class name. Ex: .red-text, etc
if it is an element: add just the element name. Ex: p or h2, etc
if it is an id: add # before the id name. Ex: #orange-text, etc

this is the exercise right? if so... this is the answer. as you can see, if you want to use jquery you need to open a script element on top and between that element you open the functions you need. It was explained the lesson before

Hi guys, I'm kind of stuck in a challenge that asks me to emphasize a text within a button element using jQuery to select it by it's id and emphasize it.

I've done everything it asks for using the given example but it doesn't work !!!

<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#target1").css("color", "red");
$("target4").html("<em> #target4 </em>");

});
</script>

<div class="container-fluid">
<h3 class="text-primary text-center">jQuery Playground</h3>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#left-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="left-well">
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target1">#target1</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target2">#target2</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target3">#target3</button>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#right-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="right-well">
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target4">#target4</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target5">#target5</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target6">#target6</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>

it's the "target4" element

you have to use the placeholder="" to put text inside the searchbar. as for the button since you're using Bootstrap, you have to attribute it a class, in this case btn btn-primary

Please tell me how to solve it

var myVar = 87;

// Only change code below this line
myVar = myVar + 1;

Instruction:

myVar should equal 88
myVar = myVar should be changed
Use the ++ operator
Do not change code above the line

@jacobsidford
Nov 12 2016 06:18
@SohelQ
used myVar++
it's shorthand for
myVar = myVar+1;

you will also discover

myVar+=5;

is equivalent to

myVar = myVar + 5;

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. The required alt attribute specifies an alternate text for an image, if the image cannot be displayed.

The alt attribute provides alternative information for an image if a user for some reason cannot view it (because of slow connection, an error in the src attribute, or if the user uses a screen reader).

@DarrenfJ @malavshahce so your saying if the image is not available for some reason, then the text " Author standing on a beach with two thumbs up" will be the alternatitive

You can add images to your website by using the img element, and point to a specific image's URL using the src attribute.

An example of this would be:

<img src="https://www.your-image-source.com/your-image.jpg">

All img elements must have an alt attribute. The text inside an alt attribute is used for screen readers to improve accessibility and is displayed if the image fails to load.

Lets add an alt attribute to our img example above:

<img src="https://www.your-image-source.com/your-image.jpg" alt="Author standing on a beach with two thumbs up. ">

Note that in most cases, img elements are self-closing.

Try it with this image:

https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat

Run tests (ctrl + enter)
Reset Help Bug
Your page should have an image element.
Your image should have a src attribute that points to the kitten image.
Your image element must have an alt attribute.

Nov 12 2016 09:04
so should i edit the <img src=
Thayyeb salim
@Thayyebsalim
Nov 12 2016 09:05
yes you should specify the class in the tag @dixydator
Johnathan Jones
@kalecgros
Nov 12 2016 09:05
just add it next to it @dixydator
<img...begins the image code, class="smaller-image" calls out to the class you specified earlier while src="url" calls to that link
