We are able to add the "animated hinge" classes to the body but the html does not specify what section is actually the body. Is it given that the entirety of the html is within the body?

Now nest your existing a element within a new p element (just after the existing h2 element) so that the surrounding paragraph says "View more cat photos", but where only "cat photos" is a link, and the rest of the text is plain text.

Hello everyone ! I am confused. I am on jQuery map with FreeCodeCamp. While learning, I was wondering if the commands I write in my <script> tag like
("button").removeClass("btn-default");
have an impact directly on my HTML text ?
I mean, does it actually remove this class from my code ? Or does it "turn it off" ?
Thank you for you replies !

here.
Your stylesheet should declare a red-text class and have its color set to red.
here's my code

<style>
h2 {
color: red;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

ok @AeternaLex so a couple things
AeternaLex
@AeternaLex
Nov 26 2016 01:10
i don't know how to declare
a red text
RDHopkins
@RDHopkins
Nov 26 2016 01:10
when you call a class (class="")
AeternaLex
@AeternaLex
Nov 26 2016 01:10
everything was right execept for that
yeah?
RDHopkins
@RDHopkins
Nov 26 2016 01:10
you need to declare it as .red-text {}
AeternaLex
@AeternaLex
Nov 26 2016 01:11
how?
put dot?
RDHopkins
@RDHopkins
Nov 26 2016 01:11
if you are putting it in the h2 {} you only need to use the <h2> tag
AeternaLex
@AeternaLex
Nov 26 2016 01:11
right
RDHopkins
@RDHopkins
Nov 26 2016 01:11
so you are kinda doing both
JauneRG
@JauneRG
Nov 26 2016 01:11
by writing ".red-text { code; }; if your <h2 class="red.text">...</h2>
AeternaLex
@AeternaLex
Nov 26 2016 01:12
so how should i do it.
ohhh
RDHopkins
@RDHopkins
Nov 26 2016 01:12
in the style tag, you want to put something like .red-text { xxxx }
JauneRG
@JauneRG
Nov 26 2016 01:12
notice that if it is a class it will translate to ".red-text { ... ; }
Walid Ashri
@walidashri
Nov 26 2016 01:12
@JauneRG u need the $ to work
next q the $() takes a selector which is one of { tag name, id name with#, or className with . 'dot'} seconde part takes the className with no dots

RDHopkins
@RDHopkins
Nov 26 2016 01:14
@AeternaLex think of it this way ... when you do h2 {color: red;} you are declaring all h2 tags to be red.... when you declare .red-text {color: red;} , you are controlling which h2 (or any other places) you want to be red
JauneRG
@JauneRG

can someone help me please?
Margaret
@Margaret2
Nov 26 2016 01:15
@JauneRG and in the case of $(), $("button") and $(".button") would target two different things: $("button") would target the <button> elements, but $(".button") would target all elements with class="button"
Walid Ashri
@walidashri
Nov 26 2016 01:15
@JauneRG 1st part can do with no # or . if you target html tag like button p or h2

@Tara48 nesting is just putting elements into another element, so create a div with the class container-fluid, and cut-paste all your current html in that div
<div class="container-fluid">
//current html here
</div>
@DaLostCoder the classes are from the font awesome library, you just need to put them in the i tag

@Margaret2 I have another question. What is the interest of jQuery. In the map of FreeCodeCamp, we learn for instance to $("button").addClass("animated shake");. But I can do that directly in my CSS ? So what is the value of jQuery ? Moreover, a pre-processor like Sass would be more useful than jQuery to do that, right ? That would compile directly the code instead of adding code that must be load at the beginning of the web page.

@JauneRG how would you do $("button").addClass("animated shake"); for a click handler just with css!

@JauneRG normally when you pull a source in, you're getting pre-defined classes that you have access to use without hardcoding them yourself

@Manish-Giri Ok, so it is easier and faster. But, If I compile my own classes with Sass, that'd be better, right ? So basically, Sass would be better for my own frameworks, while jQuery is cool to change stuff on framework like Bootstrap or whatsoever I didn't write, that's it ?

@JauneRG in general, its always better to write as little code as possible to get the job done. If the language already defines a class for you, theres no reason to redo it unless you need to change something that it does
theoretically yes you can code it yourself, but its more work than you need to do

Hey guys recently I am having a lot of troubles with cross origin requests and stuff like that with the Free Code Camp projects. I am having that problem with the Twitch project too, but I went back to my broken Show the local weather app because I need to fix that first.

What I am trying to do(which is similar to my twitch project) is I need to make a request to ipinfo.io and get the users location. That is working all fine. Then inside that I need to get the openweathermap api using the api url which has some stuff from the api in that url (sorry I am I not making any sense) Here is the link to my project

https://codepen.io/azbo400/full/dpBOwG/

Here is my javascript code

Sorry I clicked enter let me put my code in

```
var API_KEY = "8c4ef766274d662c379e7f1cb93aef14";
$(document).ready(function() {
//Get the users location
$.getJSON('https://ipinfo.io', function(location) {
console.log(location);
//Set location
$('#city').html(location.city + ', ' + location.region + ', ' + location.country);
//Api url
var api_url = 'http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather?q=' + location.city + ',' + location.country + '&appid=8c4ef766274d662c379e7f1cb93aef14&units=metric';
//Returns the right value which works in the browser
})
//returns undefined
console.log(api_url);
})
```Thanks in advance

@beastmodehobbs so could Amazon blocked you? Once again I really tend to doubt it but somebody mentioned that there is some site where you could upload image that blocks codepen.io. Never happened to me though. How are you developing this - locally?

@alexbuster: to change the color of text use the property color and value of the color you want the text to be… for ex. lavender.
color: lavender;

In the ex. the pand h1 elements are nested/placed inside the div element.

Nov 26 2016 06:06
@subbu24 I see everything ok, but I am on windows chrome. The idea behind responsive images is that they shrink when the browser is resized, which it seems to be doiing , at least in my browser. If you want a set height, they might stretch when the browser gets smaller.

$(document).ready(function() {
$("#getQuote").on("click", function() {
$.getJSON("http://codepen.io/sirjuan/pen/PbjLwX.js", function(json) {

        function pickRandomQuote(){
            var html = "";
            var random_quote = quotes[Math.floor(Math.random() * quotes.length)];
            html += '</p>' + random_quote.quote + '</p><p>' + random_quote.author + '</p><br>';
            html += "</div><br>";
            $(".quote").html(html);
        }

        pickRandomQuote();
    });
});

});

@andry91959 and yes
@andry91959 you can jump to making the tribute page and see how things are separated in codepen.io
@andry91959 freecodecamp uses codepen for the larger challenges. you can see how the html, css, and javascript are separated
think they're eventually going to move away from using codepen eventually

@nikkaaquino first with jquery, select the button elements
then, remove btn-default class from those button elements
elements dont have a . or # in front since it's not a class or id you're selecting
@nikkaaquino make sense?
so with jquery target the button elements... $("the element, class, id, etc").actionPerformed("desiredaction"); kinda like that
