@WalkWithWally in codepen, you put your css in the css window, not in the html window

<style>
  body{background-color: black}
  #quote {color: red;}
  h1 {color: red;}
  h2 {color: red;}
  h2 {font-size: 20px;}
  ul {color: white;}
  #white-text {color: white; font-size: 20px;}
  #thin-white-border {border-color: white; border-width: 5px;}

</style>

all this must be in the css window, and you dont need style tags too

Carlos Zavaleta
@nerdyamigo
Nov 30 2016 01:49
@Baipanda11 you are trying to add style in the class and that's incorrect
@Baipanda11 you need to add style in a style tag at the top of your document and reference the class there instead
__mifflin__
@cdrainxv
Nov 30 2016 01:50
@Baipanda11: It’s a two step process. This is an example:
  • first add the class to your html element:
    <h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>
  • in your style tags, use the class to style the element:
    .red-text {
    color: red;
    }
Carlos Zavaleta
@nerdyamigo
Nov 30 2016 01:51
<style>
.myClass {
color: green
}
</style>

<h1 class="myClass">Hello World, I am green</h1>
That would make any html element with the class myClass to have a green font,

@mohamedthe you can do it several ways, depending on what the instructions say, you can reference the img attribute from your style sheet but this would affect all img attributes in the html
Mohamed Maarouf
@mohamedthe
Nov 30 2016 02:00

CSS has a property called width that controls an element's width. Just like with fonts, we'll use px (pixels) to specify the image's width.

For example, if we wanted to create a CSS class called larger-image that gave HTML elements a width of 500 pixels, we'd use:

<style>
.larger-image {
width: 500px;
}
</style>
Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide.

Note
Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.

I am having trouble with the random quote machine project. The layout is fine, but it is the functionality (i.e. button doesn't work) that I am having trouble with. I'm trying to test the button by logging something in the console when it is pressed, but with no luck. Does anyone have an answer to my problem? Thanks in advance! Here is my code below...

@dhp1161: Your text jQuery Playground is the wrong text. The specific button you want to emphasize the text of is this:

<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target4">#target4</button>

Notice how the id’s match in your code, but the text is not jQuery Playground?

Use the $(".btn") selector.

Your #target1 element should have the classes animated‚ shake and btn-primary.

How do I complete this challenge?
Write a function nextInLine which takes an array (arr) and a number (item) as arguments. Add the number to the end of the array, then remove the first element of array. The nextInLine function should then return the element that was removed.

This is the code --

function nextInLine(arr, item) {

testArr.push(["happy", "joy"],[5,6,7,8,9]);
var removedFromOurArray = testArr.shift();

return item;
}

var testArr = [1,2,3,4,5];

console.log("Before: " + JSON.stringify(testArr));
console.log(nextInLine(testArr, 6));
console.log("After: " + JSON.stringify(testArr));

I have to test the following --

nextInLine([], 1) should return 1
nextInLine(2, 1) should return 2
nextInLine([5,6,7,8,9], 1) should return 5
After nextInLine(testArr, 10), testArr[4] should be 10

@homerallen - they have the query constructed like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?format=json&action=query&generator=search&gsrnamespace=0&gsrlimit=10&prop=pageimages|extracts&pilimit=max&exintro&explaintext&exsentences=1&exlimit=max&gsrsearch=potato&callback=angular.callbacks._1 on that page - so they are setting a lot of properties? Hi guys! This is probably very simple, but I am new to coding and was wondering what they are asking here? It says your stylesheet should declare a red-text class and have its color set to red....
here is my code:

2

<style>
3
h2 {
4
color: red;
5
}
6
</style>
7

8

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

hey, guys new here. I'm working on the CSS tutorial on freeCodeCamp and I'm a bit stuck. The instructions seem vague.
I have to insert a "font-size" attribute of 16px to all p elements, however, I can't create a new class just insert it to the existing style This is what I have

`

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p class="red-text">Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

<p>

@dfunsho7: Where’s your h2 element? This was what you had originally:
<h2 style="color: red">CatPhotoApp</h2>
The only thing you were supposed to delete was the style attribute:
style="color: red"
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri

@dsayroo you just add a class attribute to the div in which you’re nesting

@BlackEyeFlame: Anchor text goes b/t the opening and closing tags of the a element. Ex.
<a>Hello</a>
Hello would be the anchor text.
@tommynovak: You have two buttons here, but only one closing tag:
<button class="btn btn-block btn-primary">Like <button class="btn btn-block btn-info"> Info </button>
Where’s your </button> for your Like button?

Nov 30 2016 04:26
@businessbunny: To make a dead link you have to change the value of your href attribute to a #. This is the template:
attribute="value"
href is your attribute and currently the link (http://www.freecatphotoapp.com) is it’s value.
So make the change.
