Problem- I am unsure of how to make 'img' element have the class 'smaller-image'.

<label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> indoor</label>

<lable><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> outdoor</lable>

Give your radio buttons the name attribute of indoor-outdoor.
Each of your two radio button elements should be nested in its own label element.
One of your radio buttons should have the label outdoor.

@tiremon112 use Google or w3School color picker
Margaret
@Margaret2
Jan 01 2017 00:41
@tiremon112 it is just mixing red, green, and blue: first two digits are for red, next two are for green, last two are for blue. If you remember that, it can help you mix colors. So for example #00ffff would be cyan (green + blue)

Jan 01 2017 01:25
@Itzpdoe basically you can define style rules inside the <style> tags, and it will apply them to elements in the rest of your HTML. The point of using CSS/style tags is to keep the style information separate from the rest of your HTML. It ends up being clearer and requires less code
Only CSS style rules should be inside the style tags. HTML elements such as <h2></h2> are not style rules, so they should not be inside the style tags
Pedro
@Itzpdoe
Jan 01 2017 01:26
@Margaret2 hmm okay so since i added the <style>

Margaret
@Margaret2
Jan 01 2017 01:27

@Itzpdoe CSS works like this:

selector {
    property: value;
}

whatever your selector is, that is what the style will end up being applied to. You will learn more selectors in upcoming lessons

no worries, sometimes it takes me a while to type :smile:

For example, if I'm just using putting in a <hr>, is there any benefit ti putting it inside a row?

@mitron6 @caesarsalad93 if you're just putting one element on a line by itself, it might not be necessary to use Bootstrap classes at all. But @mitron6 is right, if you want to use the Bootstrap col- classes, they must be inside a row

Okay, I've spent the last 20 minutes on Use a CSS Class to Style an Element, and I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. There are two parts, defining the class within CSS and applying that class within the div. I believe the class is fine, but the reference to that class is bad. my best guess is that I need it wrapped in some sort of tag?? I'm really running out of ideas and google isn't helping due to me not knowing enough about what I am doing.

when you put .silver-background in the CSS, the browser will then look for any element that has the class "silver-background". If all you have is class="background-color", then it won't find anything and won't apply any styles @kiloheathen

Hey guys, im trying to learn es6 classes for my final simon project... im having trouble referencing my methods... any idea why?
// I'm unsure about whether to write in standard object oriented MVC, or using ES6 classes?
class Simon {
  init() {
    const tiles = document.querySelectorAll('button.quarter');
          tiles.forEach(tile => tile.addEventListener('click', this.onTileClick));
    let hasGameStarted = false,
        gameSequence   = {
          userSequence: [],
          buzzSequence: []
        },
        gameMode       = {
          normal: false,
          strict: false
        };
  }

  onTileClick(e) {
    console.log(e.target);
    this.animateTiles(e);
  }

  animateTiles(e) {
    const tile = e.target;
    // add playing class to animate the tile
    tile.classList.add("playing");

    const audio = tile.children[0];
    // reset audio play on each click
    audio.currentTime = 0;
    audio.play();
    // remove playing class to maintain original state
    tile.addEventListener("transitionend", () => { tile.classList.remove("playing"); });
  }
}

document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', function() {

  var simon = new Simon();

Comment out your call to Google for the Lobster font by putting <!-- in front of it. i cant get this right
__mifflin__
@cdrainxv
Jan 01 2017 05:53

@Gandhilicous:

Replace the value of your a element's href attribute with a #, also known as a hash symbol, to turn it into a dead link.

href is an attribute and its value is "value here"… so together
href="value here"… currently your value is a link(http://www.freecatphotoapp.com) … so replace the link with # which will make it dead… so upon clicking it… it will not redirect you anywhere.

instead of <img alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. ">
nest the existing image -

You can might u will be limited. Meaning, if u want to style or position them differently u would have that flexibility in your CSS
That's why the best approach is to have them in different DIVs so u have the flexibility of styling them separately and more

Hope i don't bother by asking a question in the beginning of my challenges here.
I am trying to change the width of an image
<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2> <!--this is how i implemented a class with text-->
where do i implement a class with <img src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. ">
mssiraj
@mssiraj
Jan 01 2017 06:53
@Myates87 you can simply use the width attribute in the img tag or do that in your CSS
So, you can do something like <img src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. " width=100>

or show us your code sample

These are the instructions: Now, let's import and apply a Google font (note that if Google is blocked in your country, you will need to skip this challenge).

First, you'll need to make a call to Google to grab the Lobster font and load it into your HTML.

Copy the following code snippet and paste it into the top of your code editor:

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

Now you can set Lobster as a font-family value on your h2 element.

Apply the font-family of Lobster to your h2 element.

Run tests (ctrl + enter)
Reset Help Bug
Import the Lobster font.
Your h2 element should use the font Lobster.
Your p element should still use the font Monospace.

And this is what I have:

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p class="red-text">Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>
<p class="red-text">Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.</p>

you need to create a style for h2 @elenabraunsteing, much like you did for p
except your font will be Lobster instead of Monospace, and you don't need to size it

@GeneralDumbo
xs = extra small screens (mobile phones)
sm = small screens (tablets)
md = medium screens (some desktops)
lg = large screens (remaining desktops)

and the numbers which range from 1-12 represent a portion of the total width of any div. All divs are divided into 12 columns so, col-xs-8 spans 8 of 12 columns (half the width) and because you used xs that will be done on mobile phone screen size, col-xs-12 spans 12 of 12 columns (more than half of the entire width), etc

Hello, I was hoping to find the answer myself, but I can't figure this out. Hopefully someone else will be able to help me here. Sorry if I bother anyone. On challenge 54, I couldn't find a way to solve it:, as follow:

"Sometimes your HTML elements will receive multiple styles that conflict with one another.

For example, your h1 element can't be both green and pink at the same time.

Let's see what happens when we create a class that makes text pink, then apply it to an element. Will our class override the body element's color: green; CSS property?

Create a CSS class called pink-text that gives an element the color pink.

Give your h1 element the class of pink-text."

this is the code on the screen (as default):

<style>
body {
background-color: black;
font-family: Monospace;
color: green;
}
