@Dorcy-ndg3 that stuff with elem was just to create a div, add the country and capital to the div, and add border to the div. Just making it look pretty!
good luck!

@Manish-Giri actually with the loop in place ,, we did not need this

var country= answer[0].name;

since we do this

 elem.append(answer[i].name + " ");
    elem.append(answer[i].capital);

Your img element should have the class thick-green-border.
Give your image a border width of 10px.
Give your image a border style of solid.
The border around your img element should be green.

my code:

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
.thick-green-border{
border-color: green;
border-width: 10px;
border-style: solid;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}

.smaller-image {
width: 100px;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<img class="smaller-image" src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. " class="thick-green-border">

<p class="red-text">Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

@Dorcy-ndg3 because the country and capital is essentially contained in an a element, this line

$a.attr("href", "#");

just sets the href to #
like <a href="#">Russia Moscow</a>

@FunkyCodeMedina you mixed up the html with the css
the element you're trying to style is the h2, and it should remain below the style tags

<h2>CatPhotoApp</h2>

Inside the style tags, you only write the styles to style a particular element, like

selector {
property: value;
}

where selector would be h2, property would be color and value would be blue.

Margaret
@Margaret2
Jan 05 2017 02:06
@leexydamsurf with body { ... } brackets in CSS... on a real html page everything would be surrounded in a <body> </body> element
but when you're just using an online code editor you don't need it, that's why they don't have it

@imallos: It's because you already learned how to give a class to an element. Reference what you did here:
<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>
Margaret
@Margaret2
Jan 05 2017 02:51
@imallos you have to do it just like you did for the red-text class:
  • create new brackets in style tags
  • use class="" to apply the class to your image

In: "Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors" It says in the instructions "Only add one class with each of your three selectors." I am not really understanding what it is asking and it's the only part I am getting wrong. Am I supposed to just add the classes to one selector or all three? I tried both ways and I am still not getting it
Margaret

Jan 05 2017 03:08
@DylPickle96 look at the tests (where the check marks are), it should tell you which class to add to which selector
@DylPickle96 nope, it's the instructions, sorry

.btn -> shake
#target1 -> btn-primary
that's how it goes, one line for each :point_up_2:

@RKati - have you defined a CSS class .thick-green-border within the <style> tags? Because "thick-green-border" is not an HTML attribute - you have to create a class, and add that class name to the class="smaller-image" attribute, including it within the quotes, space-separated from the first class name.

@RKati - okay, I think that you are supposed to define a class with the name .thick-green-border for that exercise? It should be created similar to the .smaller-image class that you have, before the closing </style> tag. I'm sure that they have the description in the problem statement.

Hi, I have a bootstrap navbar in my page which hides some of the body content.

I added a padding:75px to body elment. This prevents the content overlap initially.

However, when I use anchors to navigate within the page, the element with the ID reference in the anchor is under the navbar. Please suggest a worarround.

Use Hex Code to Mix Colors
To review, hex codes use 6 hexadecimal digits to represent colors, two each for red (R), green (G), and blue (B) components.

From these three pure colors (red, green, and blue), we can vary the amounts of each to create over 16 million other colors!

For example, orange is pure red, mixed with some green, and no blue. In hex code, this translates to being #FFA500.

The digit 0 is the lowest number in hex code, and represents a complete absence of color.

The digit F is the highest number in hex code, and represents the maximum possible brightness.

Replace the color words in our style element with their correct hex codes.

Color Hex Code
Dodger Blue #2998E4
Green #00FF00
Orange #FFA500
Red #FF0000
Run tests (ctrl + enter)

@noahtes @atrainbtown - read this link - https://github.com/freecodecamp/freecodecamp/wiki/code-formatting - you delimit the text with three backquotes on a new line all by themselves at the top and the bottom, and paste any code in between. The black box is the result of the markdown interpretation of that text input and will happen automatically.

ok i wanna ask this real quick before i log off... I am relatively new to programming (4 months) and have a trouble understanding logic... like taking a task and making it into smaller tasks and solving thewm... pretty much all of programming haaha or top-down/bottom-up thinking... I am working with mentors to help me with that and working in OOP, does anyone have suggestions on what i can do in my free time to fully master these concepts and just program

@georgeapostol not to brag or promote, but I do some tutorials on my new youtube channel that are very very basic programming logic for beginners.
maybe you want to check it out, it is C# though.
