I have attributed a green color to my form background in the "cat photo app," but I am still being marked as incorrect. I added .cat-photo-form {background-color: green;
} to my style, and completed this task by writing <div class="cat-photo-form">
<form action="/submit-cat-photo" id="cat-photo-form">
<label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor" checked> Indoor</label>
<label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> Outdoor</label>

how do you do this?
Your h2 element should use the font Lobster.
Your h2 element should degrade to the font Monospace when Lobster is not available.
Comment out your call to Google for the Lobster font by putting <!-- in front of it. Be sure to close your comment by adding -->.

Jan 08 2017 00:42

@shodge2040: Using a class to style an element is a two step process:
1) Add the class to the element using the class attribute.
<h1 class="pink-text">Hello World!</h1>

2.1 Select that class in the style tags. Keep in mind that to identify as a class in css you need a preceding . before the class name:

<style>
 .pink-text {
  property: value;
 }
</style>

I am doing this challenge and my solution for it is this:

// Setup
var myObj = {
  gift: "pony",
  pet: "kitten",
  bed: "sleigh"
};

function checkObj(checkProp) {
  // Your Code Here
  return (myObj.hasOwnProperty(checkProp)) ? myObj[checkProp] : "Not found";
}

// Test your code by modifying these values
checkObj("house");

but it isn't working, what is wrong with it?

and then to refer to that class in CSS:

@sakiani
Jan 08 2017 01:05

the instructions state this:

Use a CSS Class to Style an Element
Classes are reusable styles that can be added to HTML elements.

Here's an example CSS class declaration:

<style>
.blue-text {
color: blue;
}
</style>
You can see that we've created a CSS class called blue-text within the <style> tag.

You can apply a class to an HTML element like this:

<h2 class="blue-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

Note that in your CSS style element, classes should start with a period. In your HTML elements' class declarations, classes shouldn't start with a period.

Inside your style element, change the h2 selector to .red-text and update the color's value from blue to red.

Give your h2 element the class attribute with a value of 'red-text'.

create a new div, give it the class container-fluid, and put all your html inside it

<div class="container-fluid">
//all html here

HTML is all code below the closing </style> tag

I'm struggling with Make Object Properties Private for JavaScript.

Modify the Bike constructor to have a private property called gear and two public methods called getGear and setGear to get and set that value.

var Car = function() {
  // this is a private variable
  var speed = 10;

  // these are public methods
  this.accelerate = function(change) {
    speed += change;
  };

  this.decelerate = function() {
    speed -= 5;
  };

  this.getSpeed = function() {
    return speed;
  };
};

var Bike = function() {

  // this is private variable

  var gear = 0;

  // these are public variables
  this.getGear = function(){
    return gear;
  };
  this.setGear = function(){
    gear += 4;
  };
};

var myCar = new Car();

var myBike = new Bike();

I'm confused on the this.setGear = function()

@tranpatrick01 you need to use string concatenation, to form a sentence.
Use the four variables passed in to your function - myNoun, etc

create a red-text class like this, that sets the color to red
Vizij
@Vizij

@tranpatrick01 not quite, when you call a function like this

wordBlanks("dog", "big", "ran", "quickly");

the arguments dog, big, ran, quickly replace these values

function wordBlanks(myNoun, myAdjective, myVerb, myAdverb) {

myNoun, ....myAdverb.
Think of myNoun, myAdjective as just placeholders, that will contain the actual values when your function gets called.

Create two div elements within your row, both with the class col-xs-6.

Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Jan 08 2017 03:40

@mrdreder

  {
    font-size16px;
    zoom:100%;
  }

two problems.
First, every CSS rule follows this syntax

selector {
property: value;
}

selector refers to the elements you're styling.
Compare this with the css you have

  {
    font-size16px;
    zoom:100%;
  }

you're missing the p selector - because you want to style the p elements

Then, you need a : in font-size: 16px;
and finally delete the zoom thing

IETSilencer
@IETSilencer
Jan 08 2017 03:49
I just used it as a variable
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Jan 08 2017 03:50
@mrdreder it's a type of a font family, like serif or sans serif. Monospace fonts have equal spaces between each letter (or sth), so they are mainly used in programming fonts..
is tom an array?
@IETSilencer
Joseph Livengood
@JosephLivengood
Jan 08 2017 03:50
So @IETSilencer Lets go over what its asking real fast first
IETSilencer
@IETSilencer
Jan 08 2017 03:51
@JosephLivengood ok
Joseph Livengood
@JosephLivengood
Jan 08 2017 03:51
@IETSilencer It wants you to first add the second argument (item) to the arr, in other words push that item to the arr it has given you. Then it want you to return the first item in that array, in other words SHIFT array to get that first element to return. Does that make sense?
IETSilencer
@IETSilencer
Jan 08 2017 03:52
@JosephLivengood yes, so I used the command push first and then shift after that new array has been defined
Robert Clayton
@RNCTX
Jan 08 2017 03:54
@JosephLivengood while i'm at it on "Return Largest Number", I couldn't get a for loop to work like I wanted to do, so i'm missing some syntax somewhere... var array = [];
for (var i = 0; i < arr.length; i++) {
array = arr[i].sort(function(a, b){return a-b}).pop();
} ... will give me the largest number from the last sub-array but trying to add push() to any part of that array value declaration gave me an error.
Joseph Livengood
@JosephLivengood
Jan 08 2017 03:55
@IETSilencer In your code 'tom' is only a single element since it was the shifted arr, so PUSHING to it isnt availiable
You need to push the item to the input arr, then shift the arr to get the element
IETSilencer
@IETSilencer
Jan 08 2017 03:55
@JosephLivengood ohhhh yeah I just realized that, so I have to define 'tom' as an array?
Joseph Livengood
@JosephLivengood
Jan 08 2017 03:56
@IETSilencer Also, I very much recommend naming variables a little more descriptive
tom should just equal the input array
then you can shift tom to recieve the first element to return
@IETSilencer For example:

function nextInLine(arr, item) {
  var myArr, result;

  myArr = arr;
  myArr.push(item); //add item
  result = myArr.shift(); //take first

  return result;
}
@RNCTX I'll take a look at that, 1 sec
Nathan Classen
@NathanHayez
Jan 08 2017 04:00
So I did something dumb on the Iterate with for loop lesson a while back and it basically tries to print out every number 1 - 1000000 now anytime I get on that lesson, thus freezing the page. So I cant access it at all now...any suggestions on how to remedy that?
Joseph Livengood
@JosephLivengood
Jan 08 2017 04:00

@RNCTX So you need to specify where the result of each loop is going, right now you're just replacing the same variable which also isn't defined. So you'd want to define

var array = [];

before the loop then in the loop have the following:

array[i]=arr[i........
