@mbjusa You don't need a reduce if you already use a for loop. You can just alter a result variable in this loop to sum all the numbers in the range.

@mbjusa I.E. you don't have to create an array of the range as an intermediate step.

Hello out there! I am completed prework for free code camp. I'm having difficulty with CSS style. I can't seem to turn my h2 element blue.
Any advice on how to change the h2 color from red to blue?
Hasan

i want to move my columns to middle using row class and col-size-* in codepen

Jan 15 2017 00:23
@tiremon112 you want some div centered?
Anh Nguyen
@tiremon112

i think i could do that
we can try that, so what inside the <div>?
Garrus Napp
@GarrusNapp
Jan 15 2017 00:25
@tiremon112 if you do <div class="text-center"> text </div> the text will appear at the middle of that div

Trying to add a border to an image this is what I did so far...but no avail .thick-green-border {border-color:green;
border-width:10px;
border-style:solid;}
Margaret
@Margaret2
Jan 15 2017 00:33
@tiremon112 col-size-offset-* will insert blank columns to the right, if that's what you want
i mean to the left
so that it will move right :smile:
so if you have class="col-xs-5 col-xs-offset-1" it would take up 5 columns and be offset by 1 column
Garrus Napp
@GarrusNapp
Jan 15 2017 00:36
@tiremon112 nest that contact box in div with container, otherwise it gets tossed around

@StreudelDoodle by .container-fluid, they just mean a div with the class container-fluid
it's an abbreviated way to say it, basically

You should have an unordered list for "Things cats love:"
You should have three li elements within your ul element.
You should have three li elements within your ol element.
Make sure your ul element has a closing tag.
Make sure your ol element has a closing tag.

Emphasize the text in your target4 button by adding HTML tags.
Make sure the text is otherwise unchanged.
Do not alter any other text.
Make sure you are using .html() and not .text().
Make sure to select button id="target4" with jQuery.

<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#target1").css("color", "red");
$("#target4").html("<em>jQuery Playground</em>");

});

Evan Kalvis
@evan17gr
Jan 15 2017 02:46
so center that text?
Kha Nguyen
@Reservations
Jan 15 2017 02:47
Yes, here is a fork I made of it removing the custom font as to narrow down the issue: http://codepen.io/kha/pen/LxRENv?editors=1100#0
Issue right now is that the centering is ignoring the rotating text part and only centering the "Kha Nguyen is a __" part
And the rotating text part is not staying contained to its section
Okay fixed the "rotating text part is not staying contained to its section" bug

Use the $("button") selector.
Use the $(".btn") selector.
Use the $("#target1") selector.
Only add one class with each of your three selectors.
Your #target1 element should have the classes animated‚ shake and btn-primary.
Only use jQuery to add these classes to the element.

yeah I tried a bunch of different things and got myself confused haha
Arrow007
@Arrow007
Jan 15 2017 05:34
First thing is first, img is an element. It will be surrounded by these <>,
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Jan 15 2017 05:34
@evan17gr never really used github pages before, would be sth nice to look into tho
Arrow007
@Arrow007
Jan 15 2017 05:35
So instead you should have <img src="LINK" alt="ALT TEXT">
That should not be in your style
Actually it should be
<img class="smaller-image" src="LINK" alt="ALT TEXT">
Since that shouldn't be in style, it has to go in the body of your code. Do you know where that is?
jmcarr4
@jmcarr4
Jan 15 2017 05:36
Ohhhh ok, so i dont need the link in there at all
Arrow007
@Arrow007
Jan 15 2017 05:36
You shouldn't have that whole thing in <style> since it has no correspondence with CSS, which has to do with the <style> tag
jmcarr4
@jmcarr4
Jan 15 2017 05:36
Not exactly
Arrow007
@Arrow007
Jan 15 2017 05:37
The body is essentially outside of the style tag
Thing of it this way
The little box you are writing code in, the black one, that is the entire body
Evan Kalvis
@evan17gr
Jan 15 2017 05:37
@Manish-Giri ok dw i found a tutorial i ll try that
Arrow007
@Arrow007
Jan 15 2017 05:37
The little <img> and <style> tags are little things inside the body
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Jan 15 2017 05:38
@evan17gr pm me the link too if it's good..
Okay fixed it up L)
:)
Arrow007
@Arrow007
Jan 15 2017 05:39
So imagine those as little boxes themselves. They start here <style> at the initial tag. If you noticed, now I am typing after the tag was written, so the things I am writing are apart of it. Once </style> is written, it signifies that the little box has ended.
So you don't want you img to be in the style tag. You want it outside of that. That way it is in the body
On its own
Not inside another tag
Understand?
jmcarr4
@jmcarr4
Jan 15 2017 05:40
Ohhh ok, so create a class outside of the style tag
Arrow007
@Arrow007
Jan 15 2017 05:40
Create an ELEMENT. <img>, <style>, they are elements
A class is basically <img class="class-name"
The class is what you put inside the style tag, so CSS knows what you want to add style to.
jmcarr4
@jmcarr4
Jan 15 2017 05:41
That is where I get confused, it tells me to create a class to make the image smaller
Arrow007
@Arrow007
Jan 15 2017 05:41
Right
So to make something smaller, you would have to stylize it inside the style tag. But first, you got to tell the style tag what to change and where it is. That's where class comes into play
Class essentially puts a name to the img so that the style tag can resize it or stylize it how you want it.
Get it?

@RaviChandraThapa
Jan 15 2017 05:44
Your form element should have the background-color of green." i tried giving background color using div elements since question said not to give class or style attribute to form. and form elements are green but i cant pass
jmcarr4
@jmcarr4
Jan 15 2017 05:44
I want to say that I do, but does that mean that I should have originally put the img src inside the style tag?
Arrow007
@Arrow007
Jan 15 2017 05:44
Nope, that still goes outside
Think of the class as its name
I can see where you are coming from though.
