Hi. How can I make texts responsive in Bootstrap? (I'm doing challenge one, the tribute page.) I used vw and em, but they dont seem to work. For example, i used 4vw for h1, and i looked good in laptop screen, but in smaller screen it became really small. what is the right way to handle this? Also i could use "@media", but i don't know what resolutions should i use, and what sizes? Isn't there a simple way to tackle this? Thank you.

@Starless-Sky for min width @media do 769px I think it is

@jacobsidford Hmm How many of them? You know I don't really understand what screen sizes do we have, and for each one what font size is good? (for example for paragraphs, headings, and...) Isn't there a good article explaining the whole thing? I mean fundumentally.

@GarrusNapp The last test fails @y0el22

@y0el22 I did it the long way! (Works though)

  testStr = replaceAll(testStr,' ','');
  testStr = replaceAll(testStr,'.','');
  testStr = replaceAll(testStr,'-','');
  testStr = replaceAll(testStr,'_','');

  testStr = replaceAll(testStr,')','');
  testStr = replaceAll(testStr,':','');
  testStr = replaceAll(testStr,'\\','');
  testStr = replaceAll(testStr,'/','');

Replace all func:

function replaceAll(str, find, replace) {
    var $r="";
    while($r!=str){
        $r = str;
        str = str.replace(find, replace);

@evan17gr you can use $.ajax() and specify dataType: jsonp
instead of $.getJSON
$.getJSON is just a shortcut for $.ajax, with dataType set to json
__mifflin__
@cdrainxv
Jan 16 2017 03:09
^ you can pass jsonp as an argument if use a $.get() request.

This question is just out of curiosity. What's the purpose of having a jquery function remove() vs deleting the element? Is it for efficient coding or somehow we may want to un-delete the element later without having to retype it in?

@williamtech814:
  • This statement is clearly wrong:
    if(contacts[i][firstName]===firstName){
      return "No such contact";
    How can you return No such contact if you clearly state that you did find the contact in the if condition:
    if(contacts[i][firstName]===firstName)?
  • You can only return No such contact after you have looped through the entire contacts array and not found who you were seeking. That means you can only return No such contact outside of the loop.

good eve. I am working on the challenge "Iterate Through an Array with a For Loop" and have created my code and try to test it and i get total not defined and test the same code in repl.it and I get the answer am I doing my code wrong or is there a bug?

var myArr = [ 2, 3, 4, 5, 6];
var myTotal = 0;

for (var i = 0; i<myArr.length; i++){
myTotal+=myArr[i];
}

@BookBell: In the style tags since silver-background is a class, you need a preceding . to identify it as such:

.silver-background {
background-color: silver;
}

Then add the class silver-background to the opening div tag: <div class="silver-background">.
The closing div tag </div> should be after this: </ol>.
