@Manish-Giri so when I run my pin on this thread the font is way too huge and I do not see the bear picture in my header.
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Jan 25 2017 00:01

@ameuze the content looks fine to me, and as for using classes, for instance -

<h1 class="af">Annette Frehner</h1>

if there are more HTML elements which you want to style the same way as .af class, then it's fine. Other wise you could probably remove class="af" and refer to your styles in css as header h1 instead.

@Rafael-Goes okay, when I said "for p elements only", I meant this -
create a new style rule inside style tags, to target the p elements

p {
...
}

and put the font-size in there.

@Ymnypy $("#target1").addClass("animated shake btn-primary");
here you're adding 3 classes
you need to add only one
Ymnypy
@Ymnypy
Jan 25 2017 00:03
but adding 3 for the #target one id is also part of what its asking me to do
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Jan 25 2017 00:03
@Ymnypy nope, it's asking you to add only btn-primary for #target1

oh wait. i think that is separate.
Tobias

Jan 25 2017 00:13

I have Tried different methods with the quotes @texas2010 but it highlights the end quotes as if it were wrong

Change the Color of Text
Now let's change the color of some of our text.

We can do this by changing the style of your h2 element.

The style that is responsible for the color of an element's text is the "color" style.

Here's how you would set your h2 element's text color to blue:

<h2 style="color: blue">CatPhotoApp</h2>

Change your h2 element's style so that its text color is red.

border-color: green;
border-width: 10px;
border-style: solid;
border-radius: 50%;

so in CSS all we have to do is just ad quotes around everything
by that i mean class="BLAH-BLAH"

Sarah Hodge
@shodge2040

in html?
what is the main difference between coding in html vs CSS
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Jan 25 2017 03:02
quotes can be used in CSS too
theres alot of differences but I guess at least in declaring things the main difference is the brackets they use
html brackets use <> and CSS uses {}
Sarah Hodge
@shodge2040
Jan 25 2017 03:03
so far im noticing no real difference that matters in the program on the site

so using CSS is mainly used in the style tags and html is for the rest?
Lance
@texas2010
Jan 25 2017 03:04
@itchick85 O_o there have no class2 code. you need to use one class in element. but you could add class name in same class. class="example-name other-example-name"
Rob Gibb

Hello everyone, I'm having bootstrap issues with my portfolio page. The first issue is with my images inside of the bootstrap panels. In order to keep them all the same size, I harded coded the height and width. Now this works ... kinda bc it succesfully keeps the images the same size. But when you shrink the screen, it will look terrible. And when I don't hardcode the height and width, then I'm having issues with image sizes being inconsistent and once again it looks terrible. Under that circumstance, the layout of the bootstrap panels sort of breaks.

The class to focus on would be the panel-body part because that is what encapsulates my images.

This is the link to my codepen: http://codepen.io/pingwinZloty/pen/JEyKJV?editors=1100

Vizij

@Drew199601 Find your <input type="text"> element. You just need to add another attribute to that, placeholder="", with the text inside the quotes that you want to show.

Hello, need a little help
NicholasGalarza
@NicholasGalarza
Jan 25 2017 03:52
@Steven container-fluid provides this sort of ambient wrap around the main content of your website. Its called container-fluid because it contains some code. And the fluid part means that this 'wrapping' will expand to a wide section of you website. Hence that's what 'fluid' means.
SelfmadeOne

How do make a class to make a smaller image at 100 pixel?
Vizij
@Vizij
Jan 25 2017 03:53
@linsy22689 Container-fluid essentially is the "wrapper" you use with Bootstrap to encase mobile responsiveness with the rest of the grid functionality. You can also use container, which has more definite margins set on the left and right.
Margaret
@Margaret2
Jan 25 2017 03:53
@linsy22689 .container-fluid is a short way of saying a div with the class "container-fluid"

Margaret
@Margaret2
Jan 25 2017 03:54
@linsy22689 you don't have to because it's already defined by Bootstrap, and FCC has already added Bootstrap to the page for you
NicholasGalarza

@PingwinZloty, it's lesson 23, where you have to create a class called "smaller image" and use it to resize the given image so that its only 100 pixels wide. I haven't seen a mention of max-width yet, I don't think I've gotten that far!

__mifflin__

@Drew199601: Because it's not. Here's an ex. of nesting:

<div class="drew">
 <img src="drew.png" alt="drew pic">
</div>

In the ex. the img element is nested/placed inside the div element. You need your input element to be nested/placed inside the form element in your challenge.

@Kraidule Source is the source address, yeah. As long as src="" is inside the <img> tag, it'll work. It really shouldn't be another line, but technically, if you did
<img

it'd work. But obviously you shouldn't.

Give your image a border width of 10px.
Give your image a border style of solid.
The border around your img element should be green.

.smaller-image {
width: 100px;
}

.thin-red-border {
border-color: green;
border-width: 10px;
border-style: solid;

</style>

@rumpumpum contacts[i].prop;
use bracket notation here
Eugeniu Botnaru
@ebv-gh
Jan 25 2017 04:50
@Manish-Giri can you explain why?
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Jan 25 2017 04:51
@rumpumpum when the property name you're looking for in an object is contained in a variable, and is not "directly" a property in the object, you need to use bracket notation.
because contacts[i].prop will look for a property called prop directly, instead of the value of the variable prop, which is likes.
this - if (contacts[0].prop == prop) - is wrong too
you're always looking in the first element of the contacts array, with the [0], instead of using the loop variable i
and finally, to test if an object has a property you're looking for, you're better off using .hasOwnProperty().

my bad, I forgot to close the style tag.

Inside that style element, you can create a CSS selector for all h2 elements. For example, if you wanted all h2 elements to be red, your style element would look like this:

<style>
h2 {color: red;}
</style>
Note that it's important to have both opening and closing curly braces ({ and }) around each element's style. You also need to make sure your element's style is between the opening and closing style tags. Finally, be sure to add the semicolon to the end of each of your element's styles.
Delete your h2 element's style attribute and instead create a CSS style element. Add the necessary CSS to turn all h2 elements blue.
