having problems with the Write Reusable JavaScript with Functions challenge. to be honest, I'm not understanding what it's asking for or what to change. help please?
Alexander Køpke
@alexanderkopke
Jan 29 2017 00:07
@N3ATOSK3TO reusables are just functions. functions are just blocks of code that run when you 'call' them. It wants you to write a function and then call it

Alexander Køpke

function ourReusableFunction() {
  console.log("Heyya, World");
}

ourReusableFunction();
@N3ATOSK3TO here is the example mentioned on the challenge page. It is a function with the name of ourReusableFunction. Before the function it is called with ourReusableFunction(); <--notice the parenthesis, they make the function run, or in JS terms call the function, and then the code inside the function runs

Jan 29 2017 00:12

this is what I put in, but it says it doesn't work.

function reusableFunction() {

}

reusableFunction();

am I calling the function wrong then?

Jan 29 2017 00:14
@N3ATOSK3TO your code is correct but FCC checks the output and should not have a comma but only 'Hi World'
@N3ATOSK3TO you are doing it correctly

I'm on the "Style Text Inputs as Form Controls" lesson. My code won't pass the test "Give the submit button in your form the classes btn btn-primary."

I have added btn btn-primary to my code. I am unsure as to why it's not passing?

Here is the end of my code:

<input type="text" placeholder="cat photo URL" class= "form-control"required>

}

@cynthiacho: You need a different selector for your p element css rules. It should not be under .red-text class css rules:
.red-text {
color: red;
}

p {
 xxxxxxxx: xxxxx;

@cynthiacho: You have to comment out the h1 and p elements. For example, this is how to comment out the h1 element:

<!--
<h1>Hello World</h1>
-->

or even like this:

<!-- <h1>Hello World</h1> -->

Delete your h2 element's style attribute and instead create a CSS style element. Add the necessary CSS to turn all h2 elements blue.

__mifflin__

@cynthiacho: As I posted above, I believe you are missing your h2 element. The first step was to delete only the style attribute (style="color: red") from this:
<h2 style="color: red">CatPhotoApp</h2>

Leaving you with:

<h2>CatPhotoApp</h2>

for your html.

ok you are supposed to use a dead link by using # as your a element's href property
<a href="#"> <img class="smaller-image thick-green-border" src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. "/></a>

Hello! I am a bit stuck with the 'Falsy Bouncer' algorithm challenge. Following is the current code:

function bouncer(arr) {

  for (var i = 0; i < arr.length;i++){
    if (Boolean(arr[i]) === false){
      arr.splice(arr.indexOf(arr[i]),1);
    }
    }
 return arr;
  }

bouncer([7, "ate", "", false, 9]);

I am not able to understand why only one iteration is happening in the for loop. Any idea?
Current output is [7, "ate", false, 9]

@minoy: Actually more than one iteration is occurring, but by splicing the arr array which you are looping over you also change the length of it. In the iteration you splice out the empty string "" at index 2, which now leaves you with an arr with a length of 4. Your loop now moves to loop over index 3, which would have been false element, but since the splice operation, the false element is now at index 2, which was already looped over so it is not checked at all. You could fix this by simply using a while loop or continue with the for loop, but push the truthy values into a different array and then return that array instead.

Guys I have a doubt. I completed HTML with CSS and now moving on to Bootstrap. I do remember the concepts of HTML and CSS very well. Once we move on to the next topic wouldn’t it be cofusing to remember everything. How do you get hold of all concepts together?

@ZenZate u dont need foundation in codepen if u're using bootstrap. those are 2 different things for the same purpose.
and they might clash and make your code display strange.
