im confused with One cool thing about id attributes is that, like classes, you can style them using CSS.

Here's an example of how you can take your element with the id attribute of cat-photo-element and give it the background color of green. In your style element:

cat-photo-element {

background-color: green;
}
Note that inside your style element, you always reference classes by putting a . in front of their names. You always reference ids by putting a # in front of their names.

Try giving your form, which now has the id attribute of cat-photo-form, a green background.

and i have this <link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}

.thick-green-border {
border-color: green;
border-width: 10px;
border-style: solid;
border-radius: 50%;
}

.smaller-image {
width: 100px;
}

.silver-background {
background-color: silver;
}
.green-background {
background-color: green;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Click here for <a href="#">cat photos</a>.</p>

<a href="#"><img class="smaller-image thick-green-border" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. " src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat"></a>

</ul>
<p>Top 3 things cats hate:</p>
<ol>
<li>flea treatment</li>
<li>thunder</li>
<li>other cats</li>
</ol>
</div>

<form action="/submit-cat-photo" id="cat-photo-form">

Hi guys. I just started on the Jquery stuff and I'm stuck already. Can someone check my code? The question is: Add the animated class to all elements with type button.

Add the shake class to all the buttons with class .btn.

Add the btn-primary class to the button with id #target1.

<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("button").addClasss( "animated" );
$(".btn").addClass( "shake" );
$("#target1").addclass( "btn-primary" );
});
</script>

For example, if we wanted to create a CSS class called larger-image that gave HTML elements a width of 500 pixels, we'd use:

<style>
.larger-image {
width: 500px;
}
</style>
Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide.

what should i do in my code

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;

smaller-image{width: 100px}
</style>

@himanshupnt , I'm not sure that I understand what should I do. It sasys that my #left-well element should be red backround and that I shound use .parent() to modify.
The .parent() method shound be called on the #target1 element.
Don't sure how to do it?
$("#left-well).parent("#target1").css("backround-color","red"); does not do the job

@davorzigic:
  • just parent(). It doesn't take any arguments
  • Instead of #left-well it should be #target1. The parent of #target1 would then be the #left-well, thus changing it's background-color to red
  • You spelled `background-color incorrectly.

@kavurisrik: Your opening tags and closing tags must match. Look at your current code:
<h1> Hello World</h2>
Does <h1> match </h2>? NO… one is h1, but the other one is h2.
You code must be:
<h1>Hello World</h1>.

isn't how to add a class to an element. Remember doing this:

Add the class container-fluid (no .) to your opening <div>. Your </div> should be placed below </form>.

@cdrainxv where do I put my .container-fluid
__mifflin__
@cdrainxv
Jan 30 2017 02:02

@Devonr01: Read the instructions clearly:

Your div element should have the class container-fluid.

This is a div element: <div></div>
This is a div element with the class container-fluid:

<div class="container-fluid"></div>

Make sure your div element has a closing tag.

This is the </div> which you already have here:

<div class="container-fluid"></div>

Next:

Make sure you have nested all HTML elements in .container-fluid.

This means that everything starting from <h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2> to </form> should be inside the div with container-fluid class.

<div class="container-fluid">
   <h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>
     .      .            .
  </form>
</div>

Jan 30 2017 02:26
@hkleindl Yep. All you have to do is add that class= attribute inside the existing tag that has the type=
You had two buttons nested inside each other previously, that won't work

@hkleindl You had buttons nested, which isn't proper HTML (afaik):

You need the above, the class and type attributes on one button, as Damahr said

@Devonr01 container-fluid usually goes on the outermost wrapper. That lesson asks you to enclose all your HTML in it, but (as manish said) you can start below </style>, because that's supposed to be in the <head>, not on the page itself (in the <body>)

@Devonr01 That's not right. You're supposed to nest all your content inside that <div class="container-fluid">. Your content starts at the h2, you can ignore the stuff above that because it's HTML that's usually in the <head> of the document (not visible on the page)

@Manish-Giri: Question: Say I set up my own branch should I be running this:

Setup freeCodeCamp

Once you have freeCodeCamp cloned, before you start the application, you first need to install all of the dependencies:

# Install NPM dependencies
npm install

# Install Gulp globally
npm install -g gulp

# Install Bower globally
npm install -g bower

# Install Bower dependencies
bower install

In the staging branch or the branch I made. I guess if I set it on the staging branch and then create a branch off of it… the dependencies would follow suit into the new branch, no?

yes
so all the steps listed in the box is to be followed on the staging branch, and only when everything is installed/updated, you do

git checkout -b fix/problem-to-fix

and your branch will be forked off the latest staging, along with all changes/updates.

Hey. I didn't get what the test wants by saying -Use the $("button") selector.
Use the $(".btn") selector.
Use the $("#target1") selector.
Only add one class with each of your three selectors. So i did this <script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("button");
$(".btn");
$("#target1").addClass("animated shake btn-primary");
});
</script>

So I'm at the challenge to Check for Palindromes, and I've gotten rid of all the non-word characters using \W, however the underscore still persists. I created a new line to 'replace' the underscore with an empty string, but I can't help but to feel that I should be able to do that in one RegEx expression. Here's what I have.
...
  var clean = str.replace(/\W/gi, '').toLowerCase();
  clean = clean.replace(/_/g, "");

@shusil123 @Manish-Giri @coymeetsworld
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Jan 30 2017 06:48
@girlboss558 okay, so first thing - <form> is just one element with the action attribute - so there should be just one of it -
<form action=".....">

</form>
then, the input element you want is also just one element, with two attributes - type="text" and placeholder="cat photoURL"
both these attributes go on the same input element, like so -
<input type="text" placeholder="cat photoURL">
Luciarw
@Luciarw

border-color: green;
border-width: 10px;
border-style: solid;
}
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Jan 30 2017 06:51

finally, you just nest this input element inside the form element -

<form action=".....">
<input type................>
</form>

compare this to what you had -

<form action="/submit-cat-photo"></form>
<form input type="text"></form>
<form placeholder="cat photo URL"></form>

this was essentially creating three form elements , with incorrect attributes in some

You need an a element that links to "http://www.freecatphotoapp.com".

Your a element should have the anchor text of "cat photos"

Create a new p element around your a element.

Your a element should be nested within your new p element.

Your p element should have the text "View more " (with a space after it).

Your a element should not have the text "View more".

Make sure each of your p elements has a closing tag.

Make sure each of your a elements has a closing tag.

And here is my code
<p>View more
<a href='http://freecatphotoapp.com'>cat photos</a>

hi. I have a problem with mongoose. first I create a regular JS object that is the same schema model. (this object has nested object), then I pass it to newly created model (like let myModel = new Model(obj); ). but after inspecting the newly created model, some of its properties are missing. The missing property is an nested object itself.

Is there a need to use float if you know how to use flexbox? I'm looking at some flexbox tutorial and it's just amazing to set up. Clean code, everything makes sense. Great for making equal divs inside a container, while I still don't get float to that point. And also you need to reset float for incoming elements and whatnot.

So if I know how to use flexbox, is there a need to use float and if yes, in what situations?
