@peterfamm all your present code should be inside a set of div tags with a class of 'container-fluid' <div class="container-fluid">the rest of the code</div> hence the name container because it contains some code or in this case all of it

Working on my portfolio project, and I'm struggling to find my center. Literally, nothing will center. I have tried to archaic <center></center>, setting h and p styles to an auto margin (With width defined in px), and other misguided solutions - Any advice? Also hello strangers

I am trying to center four rows constructed as divs with the ids Home, About, Projects, and Contact. I have them at the size I want, but I want to have space on either side of these rows by streamlining them into the center.

@JJFunes: This is an example of nesting:

<div class="jjfunes">

In the ex. the img element is nested/placed inside of the div element.

HELLOOOOOO

I'm stuck on the "Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors"

Tried many different ways of coding this but nothing seems to be correct
__mifflin__
@cdrainxv
Jan 31 2017 00:43
@TylerStoddard :<img class="smaller-text">? Where is this coming from? The instructions stated smaller-image as the class name and it should be added to your existing img element:
<img class="…" src="…" alt="…">
Then you create css rules for that class in the style tags… reference the example used on the left for that.
@TazzaD7: Show your attempt please.
TazzaD7
@TazzaD7
Jan 31 2017 00:45
the last attempt was $("button").addclass("animated");
$(".btn").addclass("animated");
$(".btn").addclass("shake");
$("#target1").addclass("animated");
$("#target1").addclass("shake");
$("#target1").addclass("btn-primary");
__mifflin__
@cdrainxv
Jan 31 2017 00:47

@TazzaD7: No… it said one clas per selector… You only have three selectors and three classes… you shold only have three lines of code to write.

Add the animated class to all elements with type button.

Add the shake class to all the buttons with class .btn.

Add the btn-primary class to the button with id #target1.

TazzaD7
@TazzaD7
Jan 31 2017 00:48
Then what is this...
Note
You should only be targeting one element and adding only one class at a time. Altogether, your three individual selectors will end up adding the three classes shake, animated, and btn-primary to #target1.
__mifflin__
@cdrainxv
Jan 31 2017 00:48

@TazzaD7:
The point of the challenge is to highlight how the classes are inherited from the parent.

// adds class animated to all buttons (6 in total)

$("button").addClass("animated");

// adds class shake to all buttons with class btn (6 in total)
// now buttons with class btn will now have classes animated and shake

$(".btn").addClass("shake");

// adds class btn-primary to button with id target1
// now the one button with both class btn and id target1 will have classes animated, shake, and btn-primary

$("#target1").addClass("btn-primary");

Ah well, not the end of the world, I'll give it a few days and try again, worst case I'll just make a second github account as I figure if it's just me, most likely something went wrong creating my account first time around and now it's just stuffed lol

@Feras-uk show your code, usually people have it right but get confused about the 100% zoom.. your browser is more than likely already at 100% so you don’t have to worry about it

not in the CSS

Inside the same <style> tag that contains your red-text class, create an entry for p elements and set the font-size to 16 pixels (16px).

Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.

im trying to size my images

CSS has a property called width that controls an element's width. Just like with fonts, we'll use px (pixels) to specify the image's width.

For example, if we wanted to create a CSS class called larger-image that gave HTML elements a width of 500 pixels, we'd use:

<style>
.larger-image {
width: 500px;
}
</style>
Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide.

Note
Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.

@Taydenswin: :point_up: January 30, 2017 6:59 PM that's for inline code formatting, but for multi-line formatting:
```html
<div>
<img class="…" src="…" alt="…">
```
Becomes:

<div>
 <img class="…" src="…" alt="…">

You need 3 backticks, then shift + enter to go to new line, then your code, then shift + enter to go to new line, 3 backticks, and finally enter to post it.

@tiremon112 right. When I format the screen, the header items (about, portfolio, and contact) are removed from the page, and what is left is a button. However, button won't list my items when I click on it. I want the button to list the items on the webpage when I click the button.

I have a question about the free code camp process. I just finished the HTML5 and CSS and bootstrap courses and just went through the Gear up for Success part and I thought that would be where you start doing some practical projects to help a charity of some kind, but I did not see how you do that. Is that something that comes later?

Hey guys, Im working on the twitch.tv app and I am having a jQuery issue I think. I am trying to run a jQuery function through a loop and it isn't working. I have console.log(streamUrl); before the jQuery function and it is looping through the array fine, but when I put console.log(streamUrl); after the jQuery function, it calls the last string in the array each time....any Ideas?
for (var j = 0; j < tvChannels.length; j++){
   var streamUrl = "https://api.twitch.tv/kraken/streams/" + tvChannels[j] +"?client_id=5m1f6u3xqnrk5ucsc03tesyq11clj9"
   var userUrl = "https://api.twitch.tv/kraken/users/" + tvChannels[j] +"?client_id=5m1f6u3xqnrk5ucsc03tesyq11clj9"

Anyone have any ideas on this one?

Hey guys, Im working on the twitch.tv app and I am having a jQuery issue I think. I am trying to run a jQuery function through a loop and it isn't working. I have console.log(streamUrl); before the jQuery function and it is looping through the array fine, but when I put console.log(streamUrl); after the jQuery function, it calls the last string in the array each time....any Ideas?

for (var j = 0; j < tvChannels.length; j++){
   var streamUrl = "https://api.twitch.tv/kraken/streams/" + tvChannels[j] +"?client_id=5m1f6u3xqnrk5ucsc03tesyq11clj9"
   var userUrl = "https://api.twitch.tv/kraken/users/" + tvChannels[j] +"?client_id=5m1f6u3xqnrk5ucsc03tesyq11clj9"
    console.log(streamUrl);
  $.getJSON(streamUrl, function(data0) {
    console.log(streamUrl);

Of the three criteria, my code passes 2 and 3 but strangely fails 1
Your code should add a u tag to the markup.
The u tag should wrap around and contain the two a tags.
The u tag should not wrap around the parent div tag.
