Hey guys, I'm on "Change text inside an element using jQuery" and I'm kinda stuck; wondering if you guys could help me out.
I have this added to it:
$("#target4").html();
But I'm still missing the "emphasize the text"
I tried doing this:
$("#target4").html(<em>target4</em>);
But it still isn't correct if anything, I have 1 check mark less because I changed the text
Any ideas?

Hello everyone. I could use help. Everytime I get a lesson that involves changing/adding color the example never matches what I am actually supposed to do and even my guessing has failed. Here is the assignment:
Give your form element the id of cat-photo-form.
Your form element should have the background-color of green.
Make sure your form element has an id attribute.
Do not give your form any class or style attributes.

Do I add under the style element as #cat-photo-element {
background-color:green;
}

Or even though it says not to give a style attribute do I put in in the form element?????

@flutefanatic lessons will always give you examples.. and after one reads instructions carefully.. you know what to change in order to pass the challenge for exampe... your example shows #cat-photo-element yet you have to use #cat-photo-form
Kimberly McCauley
@flutefanatic
Feb 01 2017 00:55
@Dorcy-ndg3 Maybe that's it I will try but the example last time I had a color one didn't match the answer either.
D O R C ¥
@Dorcy-ndg3
Feb 01 2017 00:55
@flutefanatic first give your form an id.. when your done with that go to your style tags and give it the color green .. so u can copy from the example but change afew staff
@flutefanatic so do u want them to give you straught answers?
all fcc does is give you an idea of what your syntax should look like
then you can figure out the rest through instructions and chatrooms... and google too
:smile:
@appleJax try this chatroom https://gitter.im/FreeCodeCamp/HelpBackEnd

@Dorcy-ndg3 no but when you're new and the example in the lesson is there but doesn't match what you actually should do I get very lost being a newbie. Here is what I have following example still not working:

<style>

}

font-family: Monospace;

border-color: green;
border-width: 10px;
border-style: solid;
border-radius: 50%;
}

.smaller-image {
width: 100px;
}

.silver-background {
background-color: silver;
}
form
#cat-photo-form {
background-color: green;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

i=i+size

Basically your loop starts at zero, goes till it reach the length of the array, on to each iteration it's value is increased by 2?
Are you sure that's how you want to proceed?

@Boardley never had problem with Gulp myself. I am using webpack atm and integating it seems like hell!

I ended up integrating it via CDN directly in my index.html.. but I'd like webpack to bundle it with the rest of the css to minifiy it

@Boardley it always scream about .woff, .eot and all the gliphy.
Plus I don't want Sass and the other 5 packages required.I'm just developing an app that will be integrated into something bigger, so it needs to be slim. :)

It's working now, but there should be a better way :_

@Boardley no difference in setting up React or Angular, you just want a bundler that spits out everything into a single file :)
found that doing it with bootstrap is just... tedious.

That's why I've always used pure CSS library, since the JS is handled by some other framework :)

hi quick q, in the problem selecting even numbered elements using jquery, i can't get all the "target" elements to shake.

here's the code that i've tried <script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#target1").css("color", "red");
$("#target1").prop("disabled", true);
$("#target4").remove();
$("#target2").appendTo("#right-well");
$("#target5").clone().appendTo("#left-well");
$("#target1").parent().css("background-color", "red");
$("#right-well").children().css("color", "orange");
$("#left-well").children().css("color", "green");
$(".target:nth-child(2)").addClass("animated bounce");
$('.target:even').addClass('animated', 'shake');

});
</script>

<div class="container-fluid">
<h3 class="text-primary text-center">jQuery Playground</h3>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#left-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="left-well">
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target1">#target1</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target2">#target2</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target3">#target3</button>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#right-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="right-well">
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target4">#target4</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target5">#target5</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target6">#target6</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>

@josesevilla24 .smaller-image selects any element with the class "smaller-image". So do you have an element with that class?

so i'm as novice as it gets, and i'm on an early step on freecodecamp where i'm supposed to put a CSS class in to resize an img width from 500px to 100px and i totally understand how to write it correctly (i think), but i have no idea where to put it in order for it to actually do what it's supposed to to complete the step. does it belong in <style>, or elsewhere, perhaps in the <img>
Ty K
@ty2k
Feb 01 2017 05:15
@cwborion Hi Caleb. What you want to do for that challenge is put the CSS inside the <style> </style> tags, and then put the class inside the <img> tag.
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Feb 01 2017 05:15
@cwborion the class itself gets declared in the style tags, and you add the classname to the img element.

Feb 01 2017 05:21
@cwborion I believe for that particular challenge, they want you to create a new CSS class called .small-image and then assign to your <img>, right? So you should be adding the necessary CSS in the <style></style> tags and then adding class="small-image" into your <img> tag.
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz

@cwborion declare a class into style with the desired property, and then assign it to the element.

Inside your style element, change the h2 selector to .red-text and update the color's value from blue to red.

Give your h2 element the class attribute with a value of 'red-text'.
