@Boardley I fixed the div on top. The issue was that it wasn't nested in the row...right? What's up with the other divs? (I'm a newbie and also a little tired, sorry for stupid questions!)

I need help with the "Specify How Fonts Should Degrade." When i call out to google fonts so that Lobster font isnt available, based on the example provided, it is checks off that the h2 element has used the font lobster and that monospace would be used if lobster isnt available. HOWEVER, it then says that i can't pass the test because i need to but a <!-- in front of the comment and a --> at the end, when i fix this, then the first two checks disappear. its a vicious circle. help!!

Hey everyone, new here. I'm trying to 'Turn an Image into a Link'.

I've passed the following 2 conditions:

  • Your a element should be a dead link with a href attribute set to #.
  • Make sure each of your a elements has a closing tag.

But I'm having trouble on the other condition:

  • Nest the existing img element within an a element.

The code I'm working with is:

<a href=#><img src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="Three kittens running towards the camera. "></a>

I have a question relating to HTML forms query strings. I have a page that takes some parameters in the url and uses them in a database search. When the user asks for a next page of results or changes the ordering, I open a new page. My question is this: how can I resend just some of the old parameters to the new page? IE if the user searches for "pear" and then navigates to page 2 of the results, I want to send along the old parameter of "pear" and a new parameter of "page=2" without the user entering pear again.

Does anyone know if we’re required to use just plain D3 for the Data Visualization projects ? I.e. no other libraries like C3.js/plotly ? In the example/explanation videos, one of the rules shown is “you must use d3” but, like some of the other videos/project pages I’ve noticed, this doesn’t match the actual specifications on the project page itself which don't say anything about D3, and says “use whatever libraries/APIs you need”… it’s a bit lazy but I’m always down to leverage a library when possible (hope this flexibility is allowed… I used React for the last Front End projects where I supposed they expected us to use JQuery)

@Manish-Giri that’s interesting. so they’re going to be library/framework agnostic ? i mean, as i said earlier, i kinda had been doing that already anyway, doing the front-end projects with React rather than JQuery (wayyyyy less code and wayyyy prettier to look at/write IMHO) but that’s good to know. where’d you find that out ?

    <div></div> //nested

@dsandeepchary here is the problem:1. Give the submit button in your form the classes 'btn btn-primary'. 2.Add a <i class="fa fa-paper-plane"></i> within your submit button element. 3.Give the text input in your form the class 'form-control'. <form><input type="text" placeholder="cat photo URL" required></form><text class="form-control"></text><button class="btn btn-primary"><button type="submit">Submit<i class="fa fa-paper-plane"></i></button>

Feb 02 2017 06:48
@mlosk could you show your entire code? your style should still have red-text and all the styles should be at the top.
thats the correct definition of smaller-image, but you still need to apply it. Look at what you did with red-text. Defining it inside style wasn't enough, you needed to actually give that class to specific HTML elements like h2 and p. Same thing here.

@mlosk the first thing is you create a class in the CSS (in this case, the CSS is all the stuff between the <style></style> tags) and the second is you 'assign' that class to the html (the stuff below the style tags).. two steps to doing a class

you will need to, or else your code won't know "text-primary" or "text-center" means
those are predefined in Bootstrap

Feb 02 2017 07:10
you can use a link tag, or if you're using Codepen it's simpler
if you're using codepen, on your pen go to Settings -> CSS->Quick-add Bootstrap. You may need to do the same in Settings->JS too depending on what else you may use
if you're not using codepen, look at Bootstrap's getting started guide on how to add Bootstrap to your project, probably Bootstrap CDN section would be your best bet: http://getbootstrap.com/getting-started/

@DarrenfJ thanks. That cleared 4 of 6 check marks. I'm still getting "do not add a class attribute to the second p element." and "Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px."

need some help with giving a background color to my div.. "Create a class called silver-background with the background-color of silver. Assign this class to your div element." --- this is what i wrote --- silver-background {
background-color: sliver;
} --- but now how do i assign it to the div element?
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 02 2017 08:12
same way you assigned classes before @DizzysContent, with the class attribute
also remember to define a class you need to prepend the classname with a period
