@Manish-Giri I've tried a few different combinations and then i keep resetting. I have tried to add the code
.smaller-image
width: 100px;
under the current <style>
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Feb 03 2017 00:25 UTC
@kbran1230 okay, you're missing the { and } for this part
.smaller-image
width: 100px;
kbran1230
@kbran1230
Feb 03 2017 00:25 UTC
@Manish-Giri I have also tried to create a new <style> class. I don't even know if I am using the right terminology. Sorry if I am unclear.
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Feb 03 2017 00:25 UTC
follow the example on the left where it creates a larger-image class, using the { and }
@kbran1230 no everything goes in the existing style tags, don't make new ones..
@kbran1230 once you've done this step, the next step is to add the smaller-image class to the existing img element in HTML, you'd need the class keyword for this.

question about $(".target:nth-child(2)").addClass("animated bounce");
why does it point to the target class, rather than the parent container's nth child?
CaptainRoberts
@CaptainRoberts
Feb 03 2017 01:13 UTC
@bralmac what is it
Bruce McLeod
@bralmac
Feb 03 2017 01:14 UTC
seems like nth-child would point to a parent object, then the Nth child of that object
rather than the Nth object of a type
the child part is just throwing me off
CaptainRoberts
@CaptainRoberts
Feb 03 2017 01:15 UTC
The :nth-child selector allows you to select one or more elements based on their source order
for example when you put number 3 on the nth child it makes the third row bounce
and when you put 2 it makes the 2nd row bounce
it acts as a selector
specific selector rather
Bruce McLeod
@bralmac
Feb 03 2017 01:17 UTC
OK, so you're selecting an element, and then saying THAT element is the nth-child
CaptainRoberts

yes
Bruce McLeod

@sjp245 this is the problem img "smaller-image" {width: 100px;}
its supposed to be smaller-image{width: 100px;} but since smaller-image is a class.. u add a dot before typing it so the end result looks like this .smaller-image{width: 100px;}

Hey everyone!
@tbatty7 Hi Tim, I also found the portfolio challenge a little weird because I had never used CodePen.io. Rather than following the example, you might find it more useful to google some simple responsive Bootstrap layouts to give you ideas. Make sure that if you are trying to use Bootstrap or jQuery functions that you learned in earlier lessons, you turn those external resources on in your pen's settings.

the first p element should have the class ted-text
and
between the style tags, give the p elelments font-size of 16px
what am i doing wrong??? ugh i have such a hard time doing this for some reason

@chelseas9210 give the p elelments font-size of 16px, you gave it to the class .red-text
And all your html is inside the <style> tags now
only CSS can go inside the <style> tags

Hi. I can’t seem to get this program to run. I’m on the JSON APIs and Ajax: Get JSON with the JavaScript XMLHttpRequest Method exercise and it almost seemed like I had to replicate the piece of code already mentioned in the problem statement, but I’m stuck somehow and can’t figure out what’s wrong.
<script>
  document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',function(){
    document.getElementById('getMessage').onclick=function(){
      // Add your code below this line
       var req = new XMLHttpRequest();
      req.open('GET', '/json/cats.json', true);
      req.send();
      req.onload = function()  {
       var json = JSON.parse(req.responseText);
        document.getElementsByClassName('message')[0].innerHTML = JSON.stringify(json);
      };

      // Add your code above this line
    };
  });

umm ... it say's to do this
Your h2 element should use the font Lobster.
Your h2 element should degrade to the font Monospace when Lobster is not available.
Comment out your call to Google for the Lobster font by putting <!-- in front of it. Be sure to close your comment by adding -->.

Jack Kussmann

Using jQuery, you can change the text between the start and end tags of an element. You can even change HTML markup.

jQuery has a function called .html() that lets you add HTML tags and text within an element. Any content previously within the element will be completely replaced with the content you provide using this function.

Here's how you would rewrite and emphasize the text of our heading:

$("h3").html("<em>jQuery Playground</em>");

jQuery also has a similar function called .text() that only alters text without adding tags. In other words, this function will not evaluate any HTML tags passed to it, but will instead treat it as the text you want to replace the existing content with.

Change the button with id target4 by emphasizing its text.

What am I missing...here, cause...apparently I don't speak english.

@frayedmind: It is wrong… you are not using the bootstrap classes as intended.You need one div element with class row and then inside that div you need 3 div elements with class col-xs-4 for the 3 buttons. This will then place all three buttons equally spaced in the same row. I have done of the buttons for you, do the same for the other two buttons:
<div class="row">

1.Your h2 element should be red.
2.Your stylesheet should declare a red-text class and have its color set to red.
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 03 2017 07:50 UTC
first is you didn't need to change the <p> tags to <h2>
also your class name defined isn't right, needs to be red-text, just like you reference it in your h2 element
i.e.
<style>
.yourClassName {

}
</style>
<h2 class="yourClassName">some text</h2>
