@LemuelReyes I see the problem
@LemuelReyes remember that you shouldn't put the '.' in front of a class name in HTML, that '.' is for CSS notation
@brisourceful which bootcamp, if you don't mind me asking? I just signed up for LambaSchool's online mini-bootcamp

@jbgomez but the .data-target is linked to navbar collapse for the menu?
Brianna
@brisourceful
Feb 05 2017 00:04
@jbgomez no, it's full stack.
Joseph Gomez
@jbgomez
Feb 05 2017 00:04
@LemuelReyes yes, but you have a '.' in there
Wasiu Idowu
@Hoxtygen
Feb 05 2017 00:05
@jbgomez that shouldnt be a problem because if it were to be an id which i use all the time the # sign will definitely be there
Margaret
@Margaret2
Feb 05 2017 00:05
@jbgomez @LemuelReyes in the example docs, they use it with an id data-target="#bs-example-navbar-collapse-1"

@Hoxtygen not in HTML
@Hoxtygen or maybe not?
@Hoxtygen haha I admit, I'm not too familiar with Bootstrap..maybe that's how they do it..
Wasiu Idowu
@Hoxtygen
Feb 05 2017 00:06
@LemuelReyes were you having this same problem locally too?
Joseph Gomez
@jbgomez
Feb 05 2017 00:06
it just seems counter-intuitive to require the '.' or the '#'..sorry if I was wrong!
Margaret
@Margaret2
Feb 05 2017 00:06
still am not sure what the real problem is :frowning: when you have so many bootstrap classes it can be really tricky
@jbgomez well, if you have an attribute with data-xyz, it is probably being processed by their javascript, so that's why you put it in i think
Joseph Gomez
@jbgomez
Feb 05 2017 00:09

@Margaret2
Feb 05 2017 00:09
personally i would try opening a new file, and pasting their example, then one by one replacing the stuff in it with my values - kind of sounds stupid :yum: but it might help you debug it
and then once you get it to work by itself, could put it in your whole page

It was pointed out that jquery goes before bootstrap which I ordered wrong, then my jquery was an old version. A simple reordering and putting the script at the bottom fixed it!

1.Your h2 element should be red.
2.Your h2 element should have the class red-text.
3.Your stylesheet should declare a red-text class and have its color set to red.
4.Do not use inline style declarations like style="color: red" in your h2 element.
I got 3-4 but not one
Or 2-4

Hi guys, I need some help w/"Title Case a Sentence".
I'm getting:
TypeError: Cannot set property '0' of undefined
I did google the problem, but I couldn't make sense of the stuff I was reading on StackExchange.
I hope the comments are alright, I added them a bit hastily.
function titleCase(str) {

  var strArr = str.toLowerCase().split(" "); //Breaks up str into an all lower case array

  var toJoin = []; //We're going to copy to this variable

  for (var i = 0; i < strArr.length; i++) { //Iterates through items in the arrays

    for (var x = 0; x < strArr[i].length; x++) { //Iterates through chars of strArr & copies to toJoin

      if (x === 0) { //First char of word is capitalized before being copied
        toJoin[i][x] = strArr[i][x].toUpperCase();
      } else { //The rest of the chars are copied
        toJoin[i][x] = strArr[i][x];
      }

    }
  }
  return toJoin.join(" "); //Returns toJoin as a string
}

@hop7d5 i think when you do strArr[i][x] it is looking for a sub-array, maybe try strArr[i].charAt(0) and then use .substring() to get the rest of the word
@hop7d5 also, go put this in the help javascript room, there are more people there who can help you

function titleCase(str) {

  var strArr = str.toLowerCase().split(" "); //Breaks up str into an all lower case array

  var toJoin = []; //We're going to copy to this variable

  for (var i = 0; i < strArr.length; i++) { //Iterates through items in the arrays
    toJoin[i] = [];  // INITIATE THE NESTED ARRAY HERE
    for (var x = 0; x < strArr[i].length; x++) { //Iterates through chars of strArr & copies to toJoin

      if (x === 0) { //First char of word is capitalized before being copied
        toJoin[i][x] = strArr[i][x].toUpperCase();
      } else { //The rest of the chars are copied
        toJoin[i][x] = strArr[i][x];
      }

    }

  return toJoin.join(" "); //Returns toJoin as a string

@dirtyissa

  1. Make an array of the variables you already created, which contain the values
  2. Get the biggest number
  3. Make an array of strings of the names of the restaurants
  4. Get the index position of the restaurant that has the maxNumber value and use that to get the name of restaurant from the array of strings you created in step 3

The only problem is that this doesn't account for the possibility that two or more restaurants have the same value. So keep that in mind!!

You can use Bootstrap's col-xs-* classes on form elements, too! This way, our radio buttons will be evenly spread out across the page, regardless of how wide the screen resolution is.

Nest all of your radio buttons within a <div class="row"> element. Then nest each of them within a <div class="col-xs-6"> element.

Hey everyone, I have been having trouble trying to get the "pull" class to work on Codepen. I'm trying to move some of the elements of my navigation bar to the right using class="pull-right". Is there something I'm missing that's keeping them from moving to the right? I can move the whole list by giving IT the class "pull-right", but that's not what I want, and it moves the image with it. I tried getting rid of the image and applying the class to each of the li elements again, and still nothing. Here is the code:
Dylan
@dhcodes
Feb 05 2017 02:53
@ImMrBulldops pull-right is deprecated and since you're using bootstrap 4.0.0, it won't work
looks like the alternative is .dropdown-menu-right
ImMrBulldops
@ImMrBulldops
Feb 05 2017 02:54
What do you mean by it being deprecated?
Dylan
@dhcodes
Feb 05 2017 02:55
it means that it's not supported in the new version
they've decided for some reason that it's not good to continue using it

@RogueSC :

Replace the value of your a element's href attribute with a #, also known as a hash symbol, to turn it into a dead link.

href is an attribute and its value is in quotes "value"
so together href="value"… currently your value is a link (http://www.freecatphotoapp.com) … so replace the link with # which will make it dead… so upon clicking it… it will not redirect you anywhere.

@Godiniis , $("target4").html("<em>"text"</em>");. This is what you have.

Now for accessing the id and the text inside it.

$("#target4").html("<em>#target4</em>"); should work.

And you don't need that $("#target4").html();

@jazm1988 For example, if you wanted all h2 elements to be red, your style element would look like this:

<style>
h2 {color: red;}
</style>

Note that it's important to have both opening and closing curly braces ({ and }) around each element's style. You also need to make sure your element's style is between the opening and closing style tags. Finally, be sure to add the semicolon to the end of each of your element's styles.

The shift method removes the first element out of an array and returns. For example:

var arr = [56, 89, 92];
console.log(arr.shift()); // 56
// To return the element that was just shifted, make use of the return keyword
return arr.shift(); // 56
