Hi guys!! I got stuck I'm on the counting cards exercise. It asks to create a function that tracks the count of cards, to test it calls the function with several values. I can only modify the text inside the function, but it looks like should only (If understand it well) return a result after the whole sequence.

My approach is clearly not working

var count = 0;

function cc(card) {
  // Only change code below this line
  switch(card) {
    case 2:
    case 3:
    case 4:
    case 5:
    case 6:
      count = count + 1;
      console.log(count);
      break;
    case 10:
    case "J":
    case "Q":
    case "K":
    case "A":
      count = count - 1;
      console.log(count);
   }

  if(count < 0) {
    return count + " Bet";
  } else {
    return count + " Hold";
  }

  // Only change code above this line
}

// Add/remove calls to test your function.
// Note: Only the last will display
cc(2); cc(3); cc(7); cc('K'); cc('A');

Any hint??

@Manish-Giri So what does Product.call(this, name, price); do?
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Feb 06 2017 01:14

@Hello911 when called inside the function Toy, it would be the same as -

function Product(name, price) {
  this.name = name;
  this.price = price;

  if (price < 0) {
    throw RangeError('Cannot create product ' +
                      this.name + ' with a negative price');
  }
}

becomes

function Toy(name, price) {
  this.name = name;
  this.price = price;

  if (price < 0) {
    throw RangeError('Cannot create product ' +
                      this.name + ' with a negative price');
  }

Passing Values to Functions with Arguments
Parameters are variables that act as placeholders for the values that are to be input to a function when it is called. When a function is defined, it is typically defined along with one or more parameters. The actual values that are input (or "passed") into a function when it is called are known as arguments.
Colton Ehrman

You can build web forms that actually submit data to a server using nothing more than pure HTML. You can do this by specifying an action on your form element.

For example:

<form action="/url-where-you-want-to-submit-form-data"></form>

Nest your text field in a form element. Add the action="/submit-cat-photo" attribute to this form element.

That was the "Create Form Element" task.
<form action="/submit-cat-photo"></form> is what I typed in

@basileUSA your CSS should look like this:

<style>
.h2 {
color: red;
}

</style>

Then call the class in the HTML h2 element

@bhargavis5 just a tip, sometimes re-read each question, the wording is sometimes slightly finicky, this doesn't help if you speed read. Also try and type each and every code that is asked, try not to cut and paste. This way you will learn the syntax better. This is essential for each and every challenge.

@scotch89 <h1 class=“pink-text”>EXAMPLE TEXT</h1>

then your css should look like this:

<style>

.pink-text {
color: pink;
}

</style>

@xxiong060 Okay, you're in <style>. To use an element selector, you just take the name of the element and put it before the curly braces. So, for <a> elements, it would be:

a {
  color: white;
}

You're using the font-size property, which is the part inside the curly braces.

@levilong Bootstrap's a CSS and Javascript library that's based around mobile responsiveness. You can link it on your HTML page for easy class styling / Javascript features like navigation bars and modals. "Bootstrap button" just means you took a <button> and put class="btn" (along with another, btn-default, btn-success, etc.) on it.

<img src="…" class="…" alt="…">

@levilong: You can add multiple classes to the same element:

Multiple classes are added like this:
class="red-text blue-text green-text"
Notice the space between each class and only one set of quotes and one class attribute.

@iamsunnyparmar Here's a <div> element. Here's a <div class="red-text"> element, with a class of "red-text".
You want to nest everything in your document with this element. You can start right after the </style> -- this part and everything above it is not actually on the page, it's code that should be inside the <head> in a normal document.
So, start right after </style>, and wrap everything after that in that <div> with the class of "container" (or "container-fluid", whatever it asks)

Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100%.
how to do it
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 06 2017 07:53
points don't really do anything though, only unlock really is the icon. Instead of a cookie you get a shining start at 1k
@azjoyz check instructions out and try before asking in chat

Feb 06 2017 07:55
@azjoyz seriously you should spend some more time working on it on your own before asking for help. If you get into that habit everytime you hit a snag its going to hurt you long term
a period before the selector means you're creating a class
Azjay Szharma
@azjoyz
Feb 06 2017 07:55
thanks for your suggestion
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 06 2017 07:55
but you don't want to create a class named p, you want to target p elements. Look at challenge and example code a little more closely

how do i create a dead link by replacing the href attribute with a #?
Hans Song
@hans-m-song
Feb 06 2017 07:59
change the stuff inside the src tag into #
so src="#"
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 06 2017 08:05
@makorijr you needed to keep your <h2> tags and text between them
you just needed to remove the inline style attribute
Max Ofsomething
@Pelmelerdish
Feb 06 2017 08:12
ok im still stuck, how do i turn this into a deadlink using a #<p>Click here for <a href="http://www.freecatphotoapp.com">cat photos</a>.</p>
Hans Song
@hans-m-song
Feb 06 2017 08:13
change the link in href to #
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 06 2017 08:13
@Pelmelerdish you need to remove the URL
and replace it with the hashtag, that will make the link dead
Max Ofsomething

not always, alot of people do seem to have trouble with it
most people have been replacing the actual attribute name href with the # instead of the URL (value)
i.e. #="http://www.freecatphotoapp.com"
Max Ofsomething
@Pelmelerdish
Feb 06 2017 08:15
yes, that is what i tried
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 06 2017 08:16
@makorijr you're putting HTML code inside the style tags, only CSS code goes in there
Azjay Szharma
@azjoyz
Feb 06 2017 08:16
how to deal with it??
Your image should be 100 pixels wide. Browser zoom should be at 100%.
Coy Sanders

xxiong060
@xxiong060
Feb 06 2017 08:19
@Pelmelerdish it's kind of misleading the way they word it. There's an "answer key" i found online, but do not use that just to cheat. Actually try and actually look up the issue
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 06 2017 08:20
whats misleading about it @xxiong060 ?
says set href attribute to #
Hans Song

@TeddyHugs haha my code wasn't wrong, i thought i tagged the wrong person
xxiong060
@xxiong060
Feb 06 2017 08:21
well it says to replace href
instead of setting it to that
so people might think oh delete href and put a # instead

cani i do like this??
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 06 2017 08:22
it says "Replace the value of your a element's href attribute with a #"
doesn't say replace href attribute
its ok that people make the mistake but what the instructions are telling you is correct
don't see that as misleading
xxiong060
