HI EVERYONE! I am trying to build up my portfolio and I created a website pro bono for a family friend's business. I could use some feedback first for the feel of it. and lastly some advice on these points: - getting the website to display correctly on smaller devices, fixing the gutter shown on right when its a smaller device, my navigation bar not being shown correctly on smaller devices, and how to accept file uploads from clients. The website is www.tbsllco.com. Thank you in advance.

@Manish-Giri: Can you check this challenge:
http://beta.freecodecamp.com/en/challenges/regular-expressions/restrict-possible-usernames

Using this regex: /^[^\d+]\w+$/gi

I have tested it here already:
https://regex101.com/r/H4iweP/1 and it passes there, but not on fcc… just want either a confirmation either that my regex is incorrect or that the fcc test is problematic.

@Manish-Giri: The regex should still work with the initial caret ^ at the beginning:
/^[^/d+]\w+$/ and also the global and insensitive flags (as redundant as they are in this case).
Your works passes all the test, but my initial one fails the RegexGuru test case.

Update: It actually seems the problem is the inclusion of g and i flags… which seems to fail the RegexGuru test.
/^[^\d+]\w+$/ passes, but this: /^[^\d+]\w+$/gi doesn't… :shakes-head:

@alexanderkopke Do you mean inserting the width CSS .smaller-image {width: 100px;} inside this? <img src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back."> At the end before >? Or where exactly? I though it is a style element, so it should be listed between <style> and </style>?

Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100%.

Working on my tribute page. I've centered the images and they're links so when you click on them the image pops up in a new page. The problem is that the whole area from left to right is part of the image link. I only want the image itself to be 'clickable' (not sure if that's the right word). Any suggestions?

i just know you're asked to nest radio buttons with col-xs-6, because theres2
yes thats the challenge im thinking of
it does not ask you to modify anything
you're not asked to change the class from col-xs-4 to col-xs-6
ksteinke
@ksteinke
Feb 07 2017 02:49
@scotch89 your first 2 buttons have opening divs on the end rather than closing ones
Scott
@scotch89
Feb 07 2017 02:49
Nest all of your radio buttons inside one div with the class row.
Nest each of your radio buttons inside its own div with the class col-xs-6.
Make sure each of your div elements has a closing tag.
Coy Sanders

I know the instructions, you haven't done anything with the radio buttons
this is a button: <button>, but this is a radio button: <input type="radio">
you shouldn't be modifying the social media buttons at all, those are fine as is

@AGame20 is this what it tells you to do for the code?You can use Bootstrap's col-xs-* classes on form elements, too! This way, our radio buttons will be evenly spread out across the page, regardless of how wide the screen resolution is.

Nest all of your radio buttons within a <div class="row"> element. Then nest each of them within a <div class="col-xs-6"> element.

ok @Drummette you have two radio buttons
<label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> Indoor</label>
<label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> Outdoor</label>
the first step is to nest both buttons into a single div
<div class="row> <div class="col-xs-6><label><input type ="radio" name ="indoor-outdoor"> Indoor</label></div>
<div class="col-xs-6"><label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> Outdoor</label></div>
i see that you have nested both seperately already, you are just missing the closing </div>

@godcomplex I think you need to apply the font-size for a new css entry for p elements:
Inside the same <style> tag that contains your red-text class, create an entry for p elements and set the font-size to 16 pixels (16px).

Q: Finds any values that start with 2 and are at least 3 characters in length.

A: WHERE SALARY LIKE '2_%_%'

Create a new button element below your large kitten photo. Give it the class btn and the text of "Like".

I'm on "Style Text Inputs as Form Controls" and I'm having trouble with the objective: "Give the text input in your form the class form-control." I feel like I'm overthinking the problem, but I'm a bit frazzled.
All other objectives clear.

@zaiura To give an element a class, you do <element class="className">
This challenge is asking you to give your text input (the one inside your <form>) the class 'form-control'
Not sure if that helps unfrazzle enough without giving the answer away ;)

Hi Bhargavi @bhargavis5,

In regard to your question about nesting an image within an element to make it a link

just nest your element in an anchor tag.

Here's an example: <a href="#"><img src="http://bit.ly/fcc-running-cats"/></a>.

Remember to use # as your a element's href property in order to turn it into a dead link.

<p class="red-text">Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.</p>

This is what I am asked to do.

First, you'll need to make a call to Google to grab the Lobster font and load it into your HTML.

Copy the following code snippet and paste it into the top of your code editor:

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

Now you can set Lobster as a font-family value on your h2 element

well.. you have a function, and you send it a variable 'celcius' (in the ( )'s) but then you instead 'hard-code' to only 1 celcius value.

@ImJustKenny yu need to use the var celcius inside the function

haha. thanks. i understand now. the div class row had to have an ending div tag to close it all. but each radio button also had to have an opening div and a closing div which makes it become nested

@3ndsuer bootstrap works like this: you wrap whatever you want in one 'row' inside a div row.. then you create columns inside that and wrap each of those in a column class that is some portion of 12 (12 is the number of columns you can have in a row)

the reason bootstrap is so late into the lessons is because it is quite difficult to get the hang of things but highley useful

@ImJustKenny celcius is the variable.. the tests behind the scenes assign it different values.. you call the function in the bottom line and set it there to a value but the tests set it to different values.

at the top @ImJustKenny you have the function and inside the () you declare that it accepts a variable called celcius.. so inside the function use the variable instead of numbers wherever you would want celcius to be

Hi everyone I'm having trouble with the 'Target HTML Elements with Selectors Using jQuery' lesson. I put this code but it's not working - <script>
$(document).ready(function(); {
$("button").addClass("animated bounce");

});
</script>

I'm stuck here :-(

@belleayisyan in that top line you don't need a ;
@belleayisyan you wrap it in this function:
$(document).ready(function() {
jQuery goes in here
  });
@ImJustKenny what have you got now?
