@dyl4810 umkay it's a convention not to have spaces between attributes and their values, but i don't know if that really makes problems, but just to be sure, try to remove them: not class = "..." but class="..."
same with style
also, if you don't see a black background, that's simply because inside the div there's no content. No content -> height = 0px -> no place to show the background

Create a new p element around your a element.
Your a element should be nested within your new p element.
Your p element should have the text "View more " (with a space after it).

I am trying to create a border for an image and a text beneath it, both of which are already centered. The problem is, that I want the border to be a thin silver line around the image and then extend below the text beneath it. Basically a silver background for both of them that closely outlinse them rather than extending to the left and right sides of the page all the way.
am I right to be using a "background" or should I be using a "border"

try indenting your code so its easier to spot

you still have rows nested inside rows @dyl4810, thats not how bootstrap works to my knowledge
only columns should be in rows

        Level 2: .col-8 .col-sm-6

      <div class="col-4 col-sm-6">

The point of the challenge is to highlight how the classes are inherited from the parent.

// adds class animated to all buttons (6 in total)

$("button").addClass("animated");

// adds class shake to all buttons with class btn (6 in total)
// now buttons with class btn will now have classes animated and shake

$(".btn").addClass("shake");

// adds class btn-primary to button with id target1
// now the one button with both class btn and id target1 will have classes animated, shake, and btn-primary

$("#target1").addClass("btn-primary");

@pnkonx , You may need it for later. And whole bootstrap is written in jquery. So add jquery first. And then bootstrap.

I found another problem. You are using alpha version of bootstrap v4. So, in the css setting add this url instead of yours:

@pnkonx , paste this link https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap.min.css in your css setting tab in codepen. And remove that other link.
@pnkonx , It seems that nav-pills you are using are not designed for latest bootstrap. Just add the link (https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap.min.css) and it should work fine.

@shusil123 i just copied the instruction....

Use CSS Selectors to Style Elements
With CSS, there are hundreds of CSS properties that you can use to change the way an element looks on your page.

When you entered <h2 style="color: red">CatPhotoApp</h2>, you were giving that individual h2 element an inline style.

That's one way to add style to an element, but a better way is by using CSS, which stands for Cascading Style Sheets.

At the top of your code, create a style element like this:

<style>
</style>
Inside that style element, you can create a CSS selector for all h2 elements. For example, if you wanted all h2 elements to be red, your style element would look like this:

<style>
h2 {color: red;}
</style>
Note that it's important to have both opening and closing curly braces ({ and }) around each element's style. You also need to make sure your element's style is between the opening and closing style tags. Finally, be sure to add the semicolon to the end of each of your element's styles.

Delete your h2 element's style attribute and instead create a CSS style element. Add the necessary CSS to turn all h2 elements blue.

Run tests (ctrl + enter)
Reset Help Bug
Remove the style attribute from your h2 element.
Create a style element.
Your h2 element should be blue.
Ensure that your stylesheet h2 declaration is valid with a semicolon and closing brace.
Make sure all your style elements are valid and have a closing tag.

1

<style>
2
h2 {color: blue ;}
3
</style>
4

5

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

Thomas Mullen

Feb 09 2017 06:41

@joopt The body tag is supposed to contain every visible element. What you have is technically invalid HTML.

From w3: The <body> element contains all the contents of an HTML document, such as text, hyperlinks, images, tables, lists, etc.

Hey guys! How's it going?
I have this problem on the "Show the local wheather" challenge where I need to use HTTPS to be able to use geolocation API but then the other API I'm trying to use only works in HTTP so I'm having trouble.
Is there a way to make them work together in any way?
For the weather Im using http://api.openweathermap.org and then for the geolocation I use the buit-in geolocation API with chome only allows it's use in HTTPS

Create a second p element after the existing p element with the following kitty ipsum text: Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.

Inside the same <style> tag that contains your red-text class, create an entry for p elements and set the font-size to 16 pixels (16px).

Note
Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.

Also, please do not add a class attribute to your new p element.

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
p {
font-size: 16px;
}
p2 {
font-size: 16px;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

How do I setup method chaining like those in jQuery functions?

$.getJSON("link.example.com/api.json")
                           .done( () => console.log("success!"))
                           .fail( () => console.log("failed"))

I'm asking because I want to create a mock getJSON function. I already have the main functionality:

// Mock
global.$ = {
    getJSON: (url, cb) => {
        cb('foobar');
    }
}

But where do I put the .done() and .fail() methods?

Eric

Eric
@husheric
Feb 09 2017 07:02
it goes after the getjson

it's like how i formatted it
$.getJSON(url, function() {

$getJSON ( url, function() {

})
  .done(function() {

  })
  .fail(function() {
    alert( "error" );

having trouble on responsively style radio buttons when it asks to "Nest all of your radio buttons within a <div class="row"> element. Then nest each of them within a <div class="col-xs-6"> element." I did this but won't respond, guessing it has something to do with the other div row and div col-xs-4 that are already around them. Do i delete those previous divs or nest around them and where?

I know how to program it so that when I click the navbar it scrolls (http://jsfiddle.net/carincamen/hsu9jj0q/), what I want to know is how to make those sections it scrolls to equally big (a full page basically for each section)
