Was I not supposed to use much CSS on my tribute page? I completed it already but used multiple classes to do so. The example Freecodecamp gives you has it all done in HTML except for one class in CSS editor. Is that just the way the example was set up? Going by what was majorly taught in Freecodecamp, it made way more sense to use HTML and CSS instead of just HTML (the example's code was full of all sorts of HTML elements that were not covered in the least on Freecodecamps lessons. Here is my code if anyone has an answer.

Amr Ramadan
@amramadan
Feb 13 2017 01:31
@coymeetsworld Yeah, but I mean in the coding challenge of css in margins. There were 2 blocks. both having padding 20, so what I preceived is that if I set the second items margin to -20 it should then overlap the first block. However, I had to set it to -65
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 13 2017 01:32
padding and margin are different
padding is the space between element and border, margin is space between border and the rest of the content
not sure exactly what you're trying to do but if you want to test out CSS i wouldn't do it through FCC, do it through something like codepen

@coymeetsworld what do you mean>
?
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 13 2017 01:44
just defining a class doesn't do anything
you have to apply the class to tags in the HTML, just like you did with red-text. It's a 2-step process
doing one w/o the other doesn't do anything
gottalearncode
@gottalearncode
Feb 13 2017 01:45
so should i create a new style?

or should i include it in the style that's already created?
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld

you already defined the style, that part is fine
look at what you did with red-text
you defined it somewhere, and gave the class to html elements where the style should be applied

@gottalearncode
Feb 13 2017 01:46
?
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 13 2017 01:47
but its not doing anything. You just made a style but didn't tell any of the html elements to use it yet
gottalearncode
@gottalearncode
Feb 13 2017 01:47
how do i do that?
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 13 2017 01:47
you could make a class called .green-text { color: green} but nothings going to happen
@gottalearncode solution is easy, but i think you should figure it out

so go back to the prev challenges if you need to, because everything is going to assume you know how these parts work

@pittman990 this is what http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_div.asp says

That is pretty much what it is. A section or block of html code kind of to organize it

its not a formality to chat, its just a formality period. You don't ask multiple people help on something at the same time
because what happens if more than one person helps on different chats and they all suggest something different?

@tjp2579 just don't like it when this happens, personally i find it a little inconsiderate and theres alot of people that do it.
I've helped people do that before and never got a response because they were actively engaging w/ someone else in another chat

User Story: I can view a tribute page with an image and text.
User Story: I can click on a link that will take me to an external website with further information on the topic.

If a random person visiting your tribute page can see that it's a tribute page with an image and text and click on a link that takes them to another website with more info, you have completed the user stories.

How do I Nest a Anchor Element within a Paragraph????
h1tag
@h1tag
Feb 13 2017 05:17
@taolucks from the challenge description:

For example, the following code:

var myStr = "Bob";
myStr[0] = "J";
cannot change the value of myStr to "Job", because the contents of myStr cannot be altered. Note that this does not mean that myStr cannot be changed, just that the individual characters of a string literal cannot be changed. The only way to change myStr would be to assign it with a new string, like this:

var myStr = "Bob";
myStr = "Job";

@NeelDVirus It's ok you can ask as much as you want. I am a huge fan of Fedora, I have been using it for over 4 years. Fedora is not that heavy. So if you have at least 2 GBs of RAM you will be fine.
But as I said try a lite spin not the gnome version.

@NeelDVirus if your PC is 32 bit, install 32 bit Fedora, if yours is 64 bit, install 64 bit fedora. Some packages are aligned to work with the Fedora version. For example, when installing packages from repository, installing 64 bit packages might not be working very well (or non at all) on 32 bit system, unless your architecture is optimized to run both installations.

We will now use our knowledge of strings to build a "Mad Libs" style word game we're calling "Word Blanks". You will create an (optionally humorous) "Fill in the Blanks" style sentence.

You will need to use string operators to build a new string, result, using the provided variables: myNoun, myAdjective, myVerb, and myAdverb.

You will also need to use additional strings, which will not change, and must be in between all of the provided words. The output should be a complete sentence.

We have provided a framework for testing your results with different words. The tests will run your function with several different inputs to make sure all of the provided words appear in the output, as well as your extra strings.

`

function wordBlanks(myNoun, myAdjective, myVerb, myAdverb) {
var result = myAdjective + myNoun + myVerb + myAdverb;
// Your code below this line

// Your code above this line
return result;
}

// Change the words here to test your function
wordBlanks("dog", "big", "ran", "quickly");

I still can't get this done. Create an a element that links to http://freecatphotoapp.com and has "cat photos" as its anchor text.
Your a element should have the anchor text of "cat photos".
You need an a element that links to http://freecatphotoapp.com
Make sure your a element has a closing tag.

this is my first time asking a question on here, so i hope i'm asking it right...I have the question that says "Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide." Do i create a new <style></style> or use the already existing one i have ? I cannot seem to pass this challenge
not even sure if i'm being clear on this so sorry!
