@Sklossmonster Nope can't be. See when you create an element with the class row all the element nested inside with the class col-xs-6 or whatever should be 12. All col classes added together is 12 if the col-xs-4
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Feb 22 2017 00:01
@Sklossmonster no!
@Sklossmonster you're nesting the button elements, those are different from input elements.
you've got two input elements of type radio in your code.
each of those has to be nested in a col-xs-6 div

so that's how you get 12 columns = 6 * 2
@Sklossmonster
a bootstrap row can have a max of 12 columns, earlier you went upto 18..

Hey all, I am just starting freeCodeCamp and am on a section on specifying how fonts should degrade. I am supposed to: Comment out your call to Google for the Lobster font by putting <!-- in front of it. and I don't know what I should do. Any help would be appreciated. I will post the problem after this.

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

If you do the math, the two digits for one color equal 16 times 16, which gives us 256 total values. So RGB, which starts counting from zero, has the exact same number of possible values as hex code. What two digits?

The RGB value for white looks like this:
rgb(255, 255, 255)
Instead of using six hexadecimal digits like you do with hex code, with RGB you specify the brightness of each color with a number between 0 and 255.
If you do the math, the two digits for one color equal 16 times 16, which gives us 256 total values. So RGB, which starts counting from zero, has the exact same number of possible values as hex code.
IDK still though
how is there two digits for one color?

Use the $("button") selector.
Use the $(".btn") selector.
Use the $("#target1") selector.
Only add one class with each of your three selectors.
Your #target1 element should have the class animated‚ shake and btn-primary.

Tanner Searcy
@tannersearcy
Feb 22 2017 01:56

CSS has a property called width that controls an element's width. Just like with fonts, we'll use px (pixels) to specify the image's width.

For example, if we wanted to create a CSS class called larger-image that gave HTML elements a width of 500 pixels, we'd use:

<style>
.larger-image {
width: 500px;
}
</style>
Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide.

@Eliali94 You need to put the <style> before the html and give your div a class or id, and then select it in the style

@sloomis87 there should be an example on the right of the page:

Feb 22 2017 02:41
@Eliali94 the <div> supposed to open and close a section of your code. then in the <div> you can add a class and call it a name. The <style> should go on top of your code before everything and there you can select your div (with class or the element itself) and give it the background. So it would be <style> div { background-color: silver; }
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Feb 22 2017 02:42

could i make a declaration on the red-text

What exactly do you mean by that. If you mean changing values of the red-text class, simply go into style and make that changes

in the lesson, the code used for the example is: $(".target:nth-child(3)").addClass("animated bounce");
Andrew Shieh
@andrewlikes
Feb 22 2017 03:01
yep
Larry Hawkins
@HawkinsLJ
Feb 22 2017 03:01
this would imply the class targeted is [class="target"] in an element, correct?
Andrew Shieh
@andrewlikes
Feb 22 2017 03:01
yes everything in class target
Larry Hawkins
@HawkinsLJ
Feb 22 2017 03:01
The code affects buttons #target3 and #target6 yet there is no defined .target class in the HTML markup
Andrew Shieh
@andrewlikes
Feb 22 2017 03:01
let me see the code
Larry Hawkins
@HawkinsLJ
Feb 22 2017 03:01
<div class="container-fluid">
<h3 class="text-primary text-center">jQuery Playground</h3>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#left-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="left-well">
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target1">#target1</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target2">#target2</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target3">#target3</button>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#right-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="right-well">
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target4">#target4</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target5">#target5</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target6">#target6</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>

I suspect that, perhaps, there is supposed to be a class .target but for some reason it just did not render in the code provided

I'm having such a noob mistake. I'm attempting to make class css font into 16px and I swear everything is correct and yet the purple coloring of "16px" and my inability to move onto the next page seems to disagree .
It also states browser zoom needs to be at 100% to comprehend it correctly.. which it is

@andrewlikes Your a element should have the anchor text of "cat photos".
You need an a element that links to http://freecatphotoapp.com
Make sure your a element has a closing tag.
@andrewlikes maybe its bugged?

Feb 22 2017 03:47
@carpben With display issues like this, design your HTML first. Then you can just use jQUery's .html() method and copy/paste it all in with the variables needed for the data.
To fix your celsius/fahrenheit link, I suppose you could make your #degrees element inline:
#degrees {
  display: inline;
}

I made a change in one part and it spread out the distance of all of my three navigation bar options on the right. I want to make them all right next to each other again without messing it up how it is now but don't know how. messing with the padding didn't do anything.

@csoutherland11 column are "special" classes from a library called bootstrap.
They have some precise requrements: they can be given only to divs, they must be child of rows and container.
So in order to have your element to behave like column you must meet all that criteria:
<div class="container">
    <div class="row">
        <div class="col-*-*">
              //my stuff
        </div>

       <!-- more columns if needed -->

    <div class="col-xs-6"></div>

  <div class="row">
