@Kuzminho you sure it isn't a bootstrap class? Codepen autoloads bootstrap 4, and it could be a class used in 3.

@RiseOfHaxers actually not yet, I know if they are in the same file structure you can add a catch all as the final router to make sure express always sends back the index.html file. But that's not very RESTful either =/. unless it's not really possible to complete the timestamp project with an angular front end and a restful backend. It's ok, thank you though!

Feb 24 2017 00:24

My question is sizing the image challenge.

<style>
.larger-image {
width: 500px;
}
</style>

I hope i have that right
Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide.
Johnny
@JohnnyBizzel
Feb 24 2017 00:25
@Condell your main app file should handle the routing to the Angular code. This one uses Node for the API and React for the front end: https://github.com/JohnnyBizzel/voting-app/blob/master/app.js
All the React code lives in the same project under src folder.
@Flip22 copy the format of .larger-image

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I have an html file with links to both a bootstrap css and my custom css in the head.
I also have an <hr> element in my body but it appears as though the bootstrap css is preventing me from changing the thickness or color of the horizontal line no matter what I do. I've tried in-line style attributes, targeting the <hr> tag in my custom css, targeting a class applied to the <hr> tag, and even using the !important property. Any thoughts?

Create a new p element around your a element.
Your a element should be nested within your new p element.
Your p element should have the text "View more " (with a space after it).

I can't seem to get a modal to work.
I have the following files linked in my head element:

<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-3.1.1.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>

<div class="modal fade" id="project1" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel" aria-hidden="true">

            </div>
            <div class="modal-body">
                <img class="img-responsive" src="images/app.jpg">
                This was my first project in this class. I learned a lot about HTML and CSS.
            </div>
            <div class="modal-footer">

            </div>
        </div>
    </div>
</div>
That's the modal.
<img src="images/app.jpg" class="img-responsive proj" alt="This is appify" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#project1">

Again, here's a diagram of an a element for your reference:

a diagram of how anchor tags are composed with the same text as on the following line

Here's an example:

<p>Here's a <a href="https://freecodecamp.com"> link to Free Code Camp</a> for you to follow.</p>

Nesting just means putting one element inside of another element.

Now nest your existing a element within a new p element (just after the existing h2 element) so that the surrounding paragraph says "View more cat photos", but where only "cat photos" is a link, and the rest of the text is plain text.

So far I have this
<p> <a href="http://www.freecatphotoapp.com" </a>
cat photos </p>

are you having trouble figuring out how to nest elements it took me a while
penguio
@penguio
Feb 24 2017 02:14
@renciso218 your almost there... You have to close your <a href=""></a> element. Also the text is supposed to be View more cat photos.
In between the a tag... you need to put cat photos
example <a href="">Penguio is awesome</a>
Rafael Enciso
@renciso218
Feb 24 2017 02:15
<p> <a href="http://www.freecatphotoapp.com" cat photos </a> </p> @penguio
???
ohhh
penguio
@penguio
Feb 24 2017 02:15
Close your a tag <a href="http://www.freecatphotoapp.com" your missing a bracket
Rafael Enciso
@renciso218
Feb 24 2017 02:15
<p> <a href="http://www.freecatphotoapp.com" > </a>
cat photos </p>
@penguio
???
penguio
@penguio
Feb 24 2017 02:16
Now <p> <a href="http://www.freecatphotoapp.com" > </a> cat photos </p> you see where you havecat photos. put it in between your <a href="">Penguio is awesome</a>
Nesting literally just means put inside. it's sort of like a shell. just can have lots and lots of layers
Rafael Enciso

You need 2 p elements with Kitty Ipsum text.
Make sure each of your p elements has a closing tag.
Your p element should contain the first few words of the provided additional kitty ipsum text.
The first p element should have the class red-text.
Do not add a class attribute to the second p element.
Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100%.

<style>
.red-text {
color: red; .p {font-size: 16px;}
}
</style>

@randc23 there is 3 parts to that challenge
  1. Create a class
  2. Name the class and what it will do
  3. Appli it to the image
Kevin-Mok
@Kevin-Mok
Feb 24 2017 03:33
@newtorin You can just paste the code. Like the failed test case says, you need two escaped backslash characters, which you typed using two backslashes.
One at beginning of SecondLine and one at end.

Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Feb 24 2017 04:52
some things should be obviously wrong
it says your text needs to be red but your style is for blue
map iterates through each element in oldArray
runs that callback function and the element is the value
Akash Jain
@aj20010319
Feb 24 2017 04:55
Hmm, so the execution order is something like this? map gets the first element of the array, passes it to the function, function returns the new value and then it is added to newArray?
Coy Sanders

Feb 24 2017 04:56
yes, oldArray does not get modified which is why you need to assign the results to a new variable
