Hello World. I am stuck on the "Target HTML Elements with Selectors Using jQuery". Instructions say: "add this code inside your document ready function in order make my button bounce. I am not sure where to put this. This is what my code looks like now:

<script>
$(document).ready(function() {

});
</script>

<div class="container-fluid">
<h3 class="text-primary text-center">jQuery Playground</h3>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#left-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="left-well">
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target1">#target1</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target2">#target2</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target3">#target3</button>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#right-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="right-well">
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target4">#target4</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target5">#target5</button>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target6">#target6</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>

code that i need to add in is: $("button").addClass("animated bounce");

Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Mar 01 2017 00:23
no
you need to read the instructions
Create a second p element after the existing p element with the following kitty ipsum text: Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.
this is the text
Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.
for the second p element
which is p, not p2

@christopherlist just use your own CSS, you can probably override bootstrap's colors with something like this: .btn-primary { color: #edf; } but if that doesn't work, just make your own classes or ids to change the colors

Dude I haven't been active for 5 days
Now that we have a Bootstrap Row, let's split it into two columns to house our elements.
Create two div elements within your row, both with the class col-xs-6.
What do I do

@jrg897 its same thing you've done before. Create a class, assign it using class attribute in the HTML
assigning classes is done the same way regardless if you're putting it on a div, a h2 tag, a p tag, an img, etc

@coryobrien11 Check to see if a checkbox is checked with .is(':checked') and .attr('checked', false) is now .prop('checked', false)
$(liveButton).on('click', function() {
  if ($(liveBox).is(':checked')) {
    $(liveButton).addClass('off').removeClass('on');
    $(liveBox).prop('checked', false);
  } else {
    $(liveButton).addClass('on').removeClass('off');
    $(liveBox).prop('checked', true);
  }
});
Also, jQuery variables should be $liveButton but it seems to work as $(liveButton) in your code

@SkyCoder01 That worked perfect. And I think that variables like that are just for readability to differentiate between jQuery objects and standard variables
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Mar 01 2017 01:31
@maleficent84302 you need to first create a class, quite similar to the example they have on the left
it goes in the style tags
and follows this syntax
<style>
.className {
property: value;
}
...
</style>
Gulsvi

Mar 01 2017 01:32
Ahh, that makes sense @coryobrien11. I think you can just call everything like liveButton though instead of $(liveButton) not sure if there's any difference with memory or anything like that
For example: liveButton.on('click', function() { instead of $(liveButton).on('click', function() {

Hi everyone, I've been learning the basics of Java Script and I find it quite frustrating that by the time I get to do some of the more complex basic "simple exercises" all the things I've learnt so far have already merged and it's like a big mess in my head and I have no idea how to write the code...I just don't seem to be able to write the code...then when I look it up and I see what it should look like I'm like oh now I get it...is this normal? Is it gonna get better as I continue learning?

@Codegrammar Yes! It is normal and it is going to get better :) It is hard to understand and grasp now but if you will continue to follow the JS path you will get it! (Not that I know everything, there's so much to learn, but it improves!)
@artoodeeto That's what I'm saying. with font awesone you can't just change the size, it gets the size from the container it is in. You can read about it and see the solution here: http://fontawesome.io/examples/
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
Mar 01 2017 02:17

@artoodeeto With font-awesome, you use the class fa-2x, fa-3x, fa-4x, or fa-5x. You can also just give it a font size in your CSS, like:

.fa-twitter {
  font-size: 32px;
}

Hello everyone. I am having a problem with playing video in a background of a header. I have set header height to 100vh (because i want it to take full height of viewport) But the problem is now, if i resize the browser, the video is no longer 100% of the header, it gets smaller and smaller the more i resize.

This is video css

video#bgvid {
    position: fixed;
    top: 50%;
    left: 50%;
    min-width: 100%;
    min-height: 100%;
    width: auto;
    height: auto;
    z-index: -100;
    -ms-transform: translateX(-50%) translateY(-50%);
    -moz-transform: translateX(-50%) translateY(-50%);
    -webkit-transform: translateX(-50%) translateY(-50%);
    transform: translateX(-50%) translateY(-50%);
    background: url(placeholder.jpg) no-repeat;
    background-size: cover;

Hello, i’ve been learning fron end development, and I am starting to get very comfortable with it. However, I recently received an opportunity and it will seem to be my first job as a web developer. I am comfortable with the front end side of things, but I have never played with an atual online store, or the backend of the web. My client will be selling t-shirts online. What services do you guys recommend? I’m not familiar with the backened yet, so a service that can do that for me so I can finish this project would be great. I would prefer a service wher it allows you to customize your own html, css, and js. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Create a class called thick-green-border that puts a 10-pixel-wide green border with a style of solid around an HTML element, and apply that class to your cat photo.
Remember that you can apply multiple classes to an element by separating each class with a space within its class attribute. For example:
<img class="class1 class2">

@SewwandiD this example is just showing you that when your code encounters a return statement, it stops execution rightaway, and returns with the value you've provided it
function myFun() {
  console.log("Hello");
  return "World";
  console.log("byebye")
}
myFun();

@SewwandiD just because a particular challenge doesn't talk about a construct, like the if statement here, it doesn't mean that you won't need to use it..
here - https://www.freecodecamp.com/challenges/use-conditional-logic-with-if-statements
in fact when you reach the algorithms, there mostly won't be any instructions, so you've got to remember the stuff you've done up until now..

and its asking me to add an alt attribute to my image element
but it seems okay to me, i think it might be a bug
