Hey guys, I'm trying to make my client's site fully responsive and so far I've coded media queries up to laptop size (1024px breakpoint). I know I still have a lot to adjust and cleanup, but I would like some input on whether or not I should keep the design the way it is or drastically change it. The site is best viewed in mobile or tablet views, as I'm still working on alignments for higher screen sizes. Please let me know what you like about it, what you don't like (or even hate) about it. I really want this site to be good, so any and all input will be appreciated. Also, I know my menu section is a bit messed up with the alignments, but I am currently working on it. @kryssxx when you declare a "global" variable it is assigned to the global object, in this case the "window" object, so if u wanna do it more explicit, you could do this: this.myGlobal = oopsGlobal; or myGlobal = oopsGlobal in case u dont have other variable with the same identifier inside the function

should looks like

col.map(function(x){
 //x is the element map is looking at so I can do manipulation on it
 return x+1
})
// col[1 ,1 ,1]

so
else if (sessionTimer % 60 >= 10)
because even when your session timer hits -1, your code is continuing onto the other if statements
you only want it to check those if statements if the timer is greater than -1
I just tried it, and it worked

@Jamswoof914 so mind asking why are you trying to use map, a kind of "advanced" method?
Edgar Pan

Mar 17 2017 05:09
@mrkmhny Omg it works. I understand you said. But why the $break doesn't have the same problem?
@mrkmhny as they are the same method?

oh, well what I have is what I learned on youtube, and the map function worked before like the way I have it. but at that time I wasn't using loops so maybe that's why the syntax is a little different? idk I'm using p5.js if that makes a difference. @Marmiz

@Jamswoof914 Map is already a looping method on an array. Perhaps you're looping twice?

col.r = map(x, 0, 900, 0, 255);

is this:

@jacoahmad The line-height in your blockstyle kinda fumbles with the structure of the page. But there's a workaround, if you edit the margin of the kicker class. Which is what I did; I changed the margin-top.

Also, like it was previously suggested. You should wrap them in different tags (h1,h2,h3, span, etc.) so it'll be easier for you to use CSS. And it's just neater to organize with :)

Hi, I just started the jQuery part and I'm stuck on the learning how to script tags and document ready work. It says to create a script element making sure it's valid and has a closing tag - so would that be <script></script> Then it says what to add to the beginning of the script element and how to close it. can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? <script> $(document).ready(function(){

});</script>

@cdrainxv @Manish-Giri that's not even a Bug.
In a real world his first h1 will never compile since it's not closed... so the whole orange-text will be ignored...

In fact the text is blue since that's the class given to the only h1 available.

The fact that this code pass is because his code is so messed up but "somehow" into the rules.
I think we shouldn't add any more test cases to see if someone messes that badly. (eg by adding a second h1 with the id=orange-text).

In the end if someone manage to do it like that he probably deserve a cooky for creativity :stuck_out_tongue:

@mnedariya

@henryapril16 okay, so see here -

public void addStudent(String name, double gpa)
{
   book.add(new Student(name, gpa));
}

this method adds a student object to the book arrayList.

somewhere in your main method, there will be a line of code that calls this method -
rollBook.add("John Doe", 3.8);

This means that the arraylist now has one element in it - one student object.

Who can tell me where the wrong, why can not run successfully
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Mar 17 2017 07:49

so, in your method which calculates the gpa, you have a for loop that goes through each element in the arrayList -

public double averageGpa(){
    double total = 0;
    int amount = 0;
    for (Student x: book) {
     total= total+x.getGpa();
     amount = amount+x.getName();
    }
    return total;

}

if you set a variable like int count = 0; outside the loop, and in the loop you increment the variable each time count++;
then once the loop finishes, you will have a variable that gives you the total number of elements in the arraylist, in other words, that is equal to the total number of students you have..

@henryapril16 or if this loop business is confusing you, you can simply use book.size() to give you the number of elements, in other words, number of students..

<li text-align: center><b>April 1st, 1815</b>-The date that Otto von Bismarck was born</li>

<li text-align: center><b>Throughout the 1860s into 1890</b>- This time period Otto van Bismarck was a Prussian statesman who controlled the German and European affairs until 1890.</li>

@28sister You can skip it for now by going in map and choosing the next lesson. Your code was correct so if there's an error is either your browser jammed or you have some plugin interfering with the page.

Have you restarted and cleaned the chache for example?
