how do you bring up the code like that???
Andrew Pope
@andrew1601
Mar 19 2017 01:35
use backticks (`)
three above and three below the code
so like this
```
your code
```
it looks like theres an empty line between the first set of backticks and the code, but that's not what you need to do - it's just the way that gitter formatted the messages!
@josuepadilla if you look to the bottom right of the message box you're typing in, theres an icon with M and a down arrow in, click on that to bring up a sheet of ways to format your messages, e.g. adding bold, italics, code, or even inline code like this <html> :smile:
xy=3\frac{x}{y}=3
you can even write maths - it's cool! :laughing:

Guys, need help and guidance in how to accomplish
Note
You should only be targeting one element and adding only one class at a time. Altogether, your three individual selectors will end up adding the three classes shake, animated, and btn-primary to #target1.
Error i'm getting is Only add one class with each of your three selectors.

@gdufeZLYL Option 1: Create a <div> element as a container for your image, and use CSS to set the background image of the <div> to your required image. Then use jQuery to listen for the button pressed event, and then display the contents of the text box in the <div>. You may then also have to add some more CSS to get the text to appear exactly where you want it.

@gdufeZLYL Option 2: Learn about CSS positioning (and z-index values) to position a <div> on top of the <img> tag. Then, you use jQuery in the same way as Option 1. This way is a little harder, and option 1 is the best way to do this.
@gdufeZLYL however, that will only work in the browser. If you tried to right-click and save the image, it wouldn't contain the text.

@gdufeZLYL If you actually want to create a jpg/png or something that contains the text, this is not possible with HTML, CSS and Javascript (unless there is an image processing JS library, which there may well be). You would need to learn how to do image processing with PHP or something similar.

Hi guys! I’m having trouble putting in the background- color code

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}

.thick-green-border {
border-color: green;
border-width: 10px;
border-style: solid;
border-radius: 50%;
}

.smaller-image {
width: 100px;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Click here for <a href="#">cat photos</a>.</p>

<a href="#"><img class="smaller-image thick-green-border" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. " src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat"></a>

<div>
<p>Things cats love:</p>
<ul>
<li>cat nip</li>
<li>laser pointers</li>
<li>lasagna</li>
</ul>
<p>Top 3 things cats hate:</p>
<ol>
<li>flea treatment</li>
<li>thunder</li>
<li>other cats</li>
</ol>
</div>

Where would i put the background color code?
Andrew Pope

@gdufeZLYL it would take me a long time to write the code for that, I really don't have the time to do that right now. Plus, coding something like that would usually be something I'd charge someone to do for them!

@E-Mech using filter is a good idea. You can then create another function that handles the logic when something is truthy or and then returns true or false depending on which it is. The basic setup using filter is: return arr.filter(yourFunction);

@alexanderkopke thanks for the reply but I’m just not sure how to create a function to include all the falsy values.

This is the example from Mozilla:

function isBigEnough(value) {
return value >= 10;
}
var filtered = [12, 5, 8, 130, 44].filter(isBigEnough);
// filtered is [12, 130, 44]

But that’s an example using an integer. Not sure how to do value= “all the falsy values"

The style that is responsible for the color of an element's text is the "color" style.

Here's how you would set your h2 element's text color to blue:

<h2 style="color: blue">CatPhotoApp</h2>

Change your h2 element's style so that its text color is red.

<h2 style="color: blue"><h2>CatPhotoApp</h2> it says wrong

@E-Mech ok to explain the code you saw on mozilla. filter sends each number to the isBigEnough function. So first 12. in the isBigEnough function value becomes 12, so it checks if 12>=10. Yes 12 is bigger or equal to 10 so that expression is true. So return value>=10; returns true to filter, and filter then stores 12 in the filtered variable, then it takes the next number and checks it with the isBigEnough function. 5 is not bigger or equal to 10, so this time it returns false and so 5 is not stored in the filtered variable. You can use the same method but in your function use the Boolean(value) method to check if something true or false. Boolean() is a method that returns true or false according to what you put in the parenthesis.

@Crammuch yeah, pointless to give solutions, then people do not think what they did wrong and keep coming here with every problem
@Crammuch the point is to try to give as less help as possible and see if they can figure it out. And keep giving more if needed

@Chris-Devine It should still work, but for a limited amount of requests only. From what I read it seems they moved to custom search, which supports image search as well. https://developers.google.com/custom-search/docs/overview

}
