You have opened style element in the beginning and ended with the open style element again at the end then closed below your opened style.. please close the open style element at the bottom and retain closed style.. thats it.. rest is good

@gsilvapt Using .addClass(), add only one class at a time to the same element, three different ways:

Add the animated class to all elements with type button.

Add the shake class to all the buttons with class .btn.

Add the btn-primary class to the button with id #target1.

Hi all,

I'm just trying to piece my knowledge of functions together, can someone please tell me whether I'm on the right track

function ourFunctionWithArgs(a, b) { ----> Here we are naming the function and the parameters
console.log(a - b); ---> here we are telling the function what operation to do with the parameters
}
ourFunctionWithArgs(10, 5); // Outputs 5 ---> Here are the arguments for the parameters

Hi all, quick question, if I declare a variable using var, will it immediately become a global variable even if I do it inside a function
__mifflin__
@cdrainxv
Mar 24 2017 01:34
No… If use use the var keyword inside of a function then that variable is local to the function.
Doni Yafi
@yafiwebdev
Mar 24 2017 01:34
@kryssxx nope, if you declare it or change its value inside brackets , it's not global
the declaration or the new value wouldn't be available outside
kryssxx
@kryssxx
Mar 24 2017 01:35

then why is it so important in this challenge to exclude the var

Instructions
Using var, declare a global variable myGlobal outside of any function. Initialize it with a value of 10.

Inside function fun1, assign 5 to oopsGlobal without using the var keyword. @cdrainxv @yafiwebdev

__mifflin__
@cdrainxv
Mar 24 2017 01:35
However, if youd don't use the var keyword for a variable inside of a function, then it's still a global variable as it can be accessed outside of the function.
kryssxx
@kryssxx

I'm stumped with "Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors". I honestly don't know what it's asking me to do. Here are all of the things I need to accomplish with this:

Use the $("button") selector.
Use the $(".btn") selector.
Use the $("#target1") selector.
Only add one class with each of your three selectors.
Your #target1 element should have the classes animated‚ shake and btn-primary.

@SirrEric Inside your style element, change the h2 selector to .red-text and update the color's value from blue to red.

Give your h2 element the class attribute with a value of 'red-text'.

<style>
h2 {
color: blue;
}
</style>

<h2>CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass

Can you see why req.flash is being called not a function?
I have included and required it on my app.js main page but its acting like its not there...

 var flash          =require("connect-flash");

app.use(flash());

//In my Middleware page i call it

obj.isLoggedIn=function (req,res,next){
    if(req.isAuthenticated()){
       return next()}
        else{
            req.flash("error", "Please Login First") //HERE and it says req.flash is not a function
            res.redirect("/login")}
                    }
//further details : im getting a lot of messages that reference router. (im using an express router that has given me problems)::

 at next (/home/ubuntu/workspace/node_modules/express/lib/router/index.js:275:10)
    at Function.handle (/home/ubuntu/workspace/node_modules/express/lib/router/index.js:174:3)
    at router (/home/ubuntu/workspace/node_modules/express/lib/router/index.js:47:12)

Any idea why my req.flash isnt recognised or how to check for why these files seem not to link to eachother?

@serbdruid I wasn't say that to hint that it's your fault... and I'm sorry if you perceived that way.

I was saying it because from time to time people makes the exact same mistakes that you did, so by simply statistics means that there's something wrong in how we present that challenge, and was thinking of ways to enhance it.

the purpose of the intro challenges are for total beginner so the easiest and clearest, the best :)

@CesarSalazzar it's asking you to not remove, modify or alter the h1 h2 and p element that was on the screen at the beginning of the challenge
@vijay7396 nesting means "placing inside". here's an example of an h1 nested inside a div:

Find a Creative Challenge...

and then each of the challenges in the grid can become an equivalent to an idea in our thing..

@Manish-Giri yah... and how they cite references and it creates links

exactly!

and then each idea/challenge opens up to a new page, where you can see people involved with that idea, with things like experiences, or their own ideas, or reviews, etc etc

but less for art and more for coding projects or open source stuff or just small business innovation

@Manish-Giri Doing the twitch api, I have the ajax call in a for loop to check every streamer, and I'm trying to pass the name of the streamer in the success function. I could put it in a separate var that I woud change at each iteration, but I'm wondering if there isn't another way to pass it, like function(users[i] as user){...} or something

Anyone know a better way to solve this lesson? https://www.freecodecamp.com/challenges/factorialize-a-number
This is how I did it but I have my doubts that it is the best / easiest way.
function factorialize(num) {
i = num - 1;
if (num === 0) {
return 1;
} else {
while (i>0) {
num *= i;
i--;
}
return num;
}

Doni Yafi
@yafiwebdev
Mar 24 2017 07:36
href is a property
and the value is what you put after the =
for example class="something"
class is the property
something is the value
Aac1028
@Aac1028
Mar 24 2017 07:37

Make sure you have nested all HTML elements in .container-fluid.
Your div element should have the class container-fluid.

.font -size should begin in next line
inside {} no need to mention font-size again... just mention 16px;

@fazio8392
Mar 24 2017 08:51
okay
Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100%. @alexanderkopke
thats the question @alexanderkopke
Alexander Køpke
@alexanderkopke
Mar 24 2017 08:52
@fazio8392 yes so p is the selector, font-size is the property and font-size: 16px; is the value
fazio
