@AdrianoRuiz00 go to your style element, and create an attribute called .smaller-image (this attribute is what will make the image change sizes, according to your preference)
@Mareflux that too

Mar 31 2017 00:39
Your h2 element should be red.
Your h2 element should have the class red-text.
Your stylesheet should declare a red-text class and have its color set to red.
Do not use inline style declarations like style="color: red" in your h2 element.

@JohnnyBizzel thanks
Write a function called censor that takes two strings, text and word, as input. It should return the text with the word you chose replaced with asterisks.

For example:

censor("this hack is wack hack", "hack")
should return

"this is wack "
Assume your input strings won't contain punctuation or upper case letters.
The number of asterisks you put should correspond to the number of letters in the censored word.

@RobbieW69 Instructions

@RobbieW69 ```
def censor(text,word):
words = text.split()
for i in len(range(words)):
if i == word:
words[i] = len(words) ""
return ''.join(text)

```
Does your censor function take exactly two arguments, a text string and a word to replace with asterisks? Your code threw a "range() integer end argument expected, got list." error.
@RobbieW69
def censor(text,word):
    words = text.split()
    for i in len(range(words)):
        if i == word:
            words[i] = len(words) * "*"
    return ''.join(text)
Hello all. I'm really struggling with the Falsy Bouncer script..function bouncer(arr) {
// Don't show a false ID to this bouncer.
arr.filter(function(val){
return true;
});
return arr;
}
bouncer([7, "ate", "", false, 9]);
I'm really lost on how to use filter properly
Hey guys, is there ever a bad time or inappropriate project to use ReactJS on? I'm revamping my online resume project https://amitp88.github.io/My-Resume/ and was wondering if I should use ReactJS. I know it's mostly used for applications, but is it still good to use on smaller projects like an online resume?
@Marmiz yes! so these are the instructions: nside the same <style> tag that contains your red-text class, create an entry for p elements and set the font-size to 16 pixels (16px).
Note
Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.
Also, please do not add a class attribute to your new p element.
and this is the code i have:
<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
p {
font-size = 16px;
}
</style>
<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>
Coding Interview Data Structure Questions: Create a Priority Queue Class
In this challenge you will be creating a Priority Queue. A Priority Queue is a special type of Queue with one primary difference, that you can set the priority in the queue as either high represented by 0 or low represented by an integer greater than 0 during the enqueue process. Item priority will override the placement order: that is, an item enqueue with a higher priority than any preceding items will be moved to the front of the queue. If items have equal priority, then placement order will decide their dequeue order. For instance:
collection = [['taco',1]]
PriorityQueue.enqueue(['kitten', 1]);
console.log([...PriorityQueue])
// would be [['taco', 1], ['kitten', 1]]
// not [['kitten', 1], ['taco', 1]]
For this challenge, you will create an object called PriorityQueue. You will need to add an enqueue method for adding items with a priority, a dequeue method for popping off the front item, a size method to return the number of items in the queue, and finally an isEmpty method that will return true or false if the queue is empty.
@Manish-Giri no [... A, B].
The enqueue method pushes an element to the tail of the queue
-enqueue A to the array  --> [...A]
-enqueue B to the array:
        --have they the same priority?
                 ---yes
                        -- B should be added at the tail of the array . --> [... A,B]
but the challenge is asking otherwise?
@Manish-Giri I've spotted the problem:
else if(priority === this.collection[i][1]) {
              //current item has same priority, insert after
                this.collection.splice(i+1, 0, arr);
                return;
            }
this will add the item with the same priority after the first one found with the same value.
Instead I want to add it at the end of the array with the same value.
(in other words your function works only for 2 elements)
test.enqueue(['A', 3]);
test.enqueue(['B', 3]);
//test[A,B] . ok
test.enqueue(['A', 3]);
test.enqueue(['B', 3]);
test.enqueue(['C', 3]);
//give[A,C,B]
//expected[A,B,C]
You may need to do this on Linux
umask 0022
Clone the project
git clone git@github.com:google/tracing-framework.git
cd tracing-framework/
Run one-time setup of dependencies
./scripts/setup.sh # or setup.bat on Windows
Source the utility script to get the nice bash aliases
You'll want to do this every time you start up a new prompt
source wtfrc
Start a dev server on port 8080
anvil serve -p 8080 &
Do a full build
anvil build :debug :release
When updating goog.require/provide or soy/gss you must do:
anvil build :fast
I flipped the order
front is now at the end of the array
tail is the beginning (left)
so it feels like a conventional queue
I guess the reverse direction was throwing me off
it works because if the priority of the incoming item is equal to or lower than the current one, just splice() it at that index, that will move the current element one step towards the right, to the front and insert the incoming item at it's position instead
and if the priority of the incoming item is higher than the current item, push() it, so it remains at the front
@Manish-Giri but wait that's wrong with what stated before.
Like stacks, queues are a collection of elements. But unlike stacks, queues follow the FIFO (First-In First-Out) principle. Elements added to a queue are pushed to the tail, or the end, of the queue, and only the element at the front of the queue is allowed to be removed.
Or in other word, new elements goes to the right (end) of the array.
[Old, New]
And then:
an item enqueue with a higher priority than any preceding items will be moved to the front of the queue. If items have equal priority, then placement order will decide their dequeue order. For instance:
collection = [['taco',1]]
PriorityQueue.enqueue(['kitten', 1]);
console.log([...PriorityQueue])
// would be [['taco', 1], ['kitten', 1]]
// not [['kitten', 1], ['taco', 1]]
That means that the "older" element should remain on the left. (Taco is left, Kitten is right).
But in your code you push
A then B then C right?
So A --> older C -->newer
And yet you return:
[["C", 3], ["B", 3], ["A", 3] ...]
So the newer is front.
Don't you want the exact opposite?
Something's fishy here
@Manish-Giri
@Marmiz Actually, Priority Queue doesn't care about FIFO at all(unless it's the same priority), it's insertions are based on the priority, so -
@Manish-Giri but wait that's wrong with what stated before.
Like stacks, queues are a collection of elements. But unlike stacks, queues follow the FIFO (First-In First-Out) principle. Elements added to a queue are pushed to the tail, or the end, of the queue, and only the element at the front of the queue is allowed to be removed.
Or in other word, new elements goes to the right (end) of the array.
[Old, New]
while this holds good for a regular queue, not so much for a PQ.
As for this -
And then:
an item enqueue with a higher priority than any preceding items will be moved to the front of the queue. If items have equal priority, then placement order will >decide their dequeue order. For instance:
collection = [['taco',1]]
PriorityQueue.enqueue(['kitten', 1]);
console.log([...PriorityQueue])
// would be [['taco', 1], ['kitten', 1]]
// not [['kitten', 1], ['taco', 1]]
That means that the "older" element should remain on the left. (Taco is left, Kitten is right).
it depends on how you define left/right as. If you consider left as front, then yeah Taco will be left.
In my code, I've flipped the order - left is tail, right is front, so I get Taco at right, and Kitten at left - https://jsbin.com/jaqilep/edit?js,console
If you do dequeue(), taco is removed and kitty says
Hey! Can somebody help, I don't know what to do with this code
They ask me to: Remove the style attribute from your h2 element.
Create a style element.
Your h2 element should be blue.
Ensure that your stylesheet h2 declaration is valid with a semicolon and closing brace.
Make sure all your style elements are valid and have a closing tag.
This is the code I have written so far
<h2 style="color: blue">CatPhotoApp</h2>
<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>
@Jehubx , are you new to programming?
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Mar 31 2017 05:08
@Manish-Giri , but front and tails are not variables.
Of course you can make the code removing the element you want but the front and tail will aways be left and right respectively.
The thing is that I can choose how to give priority. (example)
0 to 10 where 0 is the highest priority, or 10 to 0 where 10 is the highest.
Basically your code gives lower number higher priority:
[["C", 3], ["B", 3], ["A", 3], ["David Brown", 2]]
Since 2 is in the tail, this means that 2 has higher priority.
I on the other hand gave higher number higher priority:
[["David Brown", 2], ["Z", 2], ["A", 3], ["B", 3], ["C", 3], ["W", 4], ["Y", 5]]
since 5 is on the tail.
The other request is to let the older values be the one closer to the front (from where they'll be removed).
In my code A was the oldest of 3 so it will be "closer" to the left, where they'll be removed.
Our two code has the same functionality as far as I can tell the only difference is that they are mirrored.
This leads me to two conclusions:
1- I'm seriously missing something obvious (note: I know why you're code's working btw)
2 - the Challenge is assuming the way I'm prioritizing insertion.
Thoughts?
@roxroy the only test Im failing is the one that says Remove the style attribute from your h2 element
when I remove it, the text no longer appears blue
Roxroy
@roxroy
Mar 31 2017 05:16
@Wil96 , you need to move it into a <style> tag ..
@Wil96 , see example on the left of the screen. however, you will need to make it blue
Michael Valentin
@mike1136
Mar 31 2017 05:17
@Wil96 it goes right after blue, each attribute inside the style tag should have a corresponding ; to separate them
@Wil96 so for example the h2 tag you have should be <h2 style= "
Wilfredo Negron
ok changed it to this
<h2 style="color: blue;">CatPhotoApp</h2>
<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>
now I have to
Remove the style attribute from your h2 element.
Create a style element.
Ensure that your stylesheet h2 declaration is valid with a semicolon and closing brace.
Make sure all your style elements are valid and have a closing tag.
Hello
@ShirleyTemple for example.. due to the rules of strings... the string above should actually stop here: var myStr = "<a href=" and start as a new string here "target=" and another here "_blank" etc etc.. unless you escape all the double quotes... (so they act like they are part of the string)
@tpondant probably because you are trying to access an Object. Objects are generally object[key]
tpondant
@tpondant
Mar 31 2017 08:54
@heroiczero ok so object[key] refers to for example "id" propery of an object, right?
but what I don't understand is how they get the value of the "id" property by putting val before key (val[key])
I thought that should have been key[value] instead no?
that's what confuses me :p because I thought value was dependent of the key
hello people
please help
Write a function that takes in a string of one or more words, and returns the same string, but with all five or more letter words reversed (Just like the name of this Kata). Strings passed in will consist of only letters and spaces. Spaces will be included only when more than one word is present.
@RrChaos perhaps:
split() and reverse() are good string methods to start with
have you read the documentation?
@maxxero When you press the button the action "/submit-cat-photo" is performed. Currently this isn't doing anything since the target doesn't exist.
Mar 31 2017 09:16
@mcvdt07 you could either use bootstrap or do it by CSS. CSS is more complicated
Machiel Van Der Toorn
@mcvdt07
Mar 31 2017 09:16
@heroiczero it has bootstrp yes
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Mar 31 2017 09:18
@mcvdt07 what's this?
  .container-fluid {="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css"/>}
To import libraries (in this case bootstrap) in codepen open the Settings > CSS > insert that link into the input
Machiel Van Der Toorn
@mcvdt07
Mar 31 2017 09:19
@Marmiz it should be in html <style>...</style>
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Mar 31 2017 09:21
@mcvdt07 Also all the links you have on top, codepen takes them into Setting > HTML > a big textbox that will be your head
Mar 31 2017 09:22
@Marmiz <link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" href="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css"/>">
<style>
.red-text {
Inherit Styles from the Body Element
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Mar 31 2017 09:24
@mcvdt07 In codepen you don't need style tags, write in the CSS box and it will be processed.
The links tags goes in the head, which is in the settings as well.
to import libraries use the textboxes you find under settings CSS/JS
why you're showing me those snippets of code?
gaitchs gangmei
@gaitchs
Mar 31 2017 09:24
Give your body element the color property of green.
Your h1 element should inherit the color green from your body element.
The color is inherited from the body so you don't need to specify anything for the h2 element
Add an i element with the classes fa and fa-thumbs-up.
Your fa-thumbs-up icon should be located within the Like button.
