hi all, I recently finished the main structure/style of portfolio section, and I was hoping someone could give me some pointers on transition time. specifically, i have a couple of arrows dispersed throughout the page that will take you back to the top, but i want the automatic jump up top to be a bit slower. i'm assuming this is down through js/jquery, but I wasn't sure if there was a way to do it through CSS. this is the link https://leofofeo.github.io/#

you could try

document.querySelector('.element').scrollIntoView({
  behavior: 'smooth'
});

to use vanilla JS intead: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Element/scrollIntoView

for jquery: https://api.jquery.com/animate/

jQuery is still good when you need to provide some basic front-end job for a client. Sometimes heavy frameworks are overkill and vanilla JS is just not safe enough unless you really know what you are doing (potential browser quirks and everything)

Hans7777
@Hans7777
May 10 2017 01:24

Classes are reusable styles that can be added to HTML elements.

Here's an example CSS class declaration:

<style>
.blue-text {
color: blue;
}
</style>
You can see that we've created a CSS class called blue-text within the <style> tag.

You can apply a class to an HTML element like this:

<h2 class="blue-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

Note that in your CSS style element, classes should start with a period. In your HTML elements' class declarations, classes shouldn't start with a period.

Inside your style element, change the h2 selector to .red-text and update the color's value from blue to red.

Give your h2 element the class attribute with a value of 'red-text'.

Run tests (ctrl + enter)

Eric Weiss
@eweiss17

I need help with the lesson Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors.
so these are the steps it tells me

Use the $("button") selector.
Use the $(".btn") selector.
Use the $("#target1") selector.
Only add one class with each of your three selectors.
Your #target1 element should have the classes animated‚ shake and btn-primary.

and i believe i've done this but it says i did none of these here is my code

<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("button").addclass("animated shake");
$(".btn").addclass("animated shake");
$("#target1").addclass("animated shake btn-primary");
});
</script>

@Manish-Giri By using stateless functional components, you’re signalling to React that you don’t need that ReactComponent. From this, it is able to make a bunch of optimisations — which while currently modest, are set to grow. But even before these performance improvements materialise, there are a number of things your components won’t have to do if they’re classless. Which brings us to the second rule.

<form action="/url-where-you-want-to-submit-form-data"></form>

Nest your text field in a form element. Add the action="/submit-cat-photo" attribute to this form element.

@Abott1222 the point is selecting the divs that actually matters.
If you could just give the same class to the inner divs:

<container>
  <row>
    <div class=x>
     <div class=x>
     <div class=x>

[...]

you can then select them with a simple:

document.getElementsByClassName("x")

Then looping and do your business.

for(var i =0; i <div.length; i++) {
 div[i].innerHtml( your stuff)
}

@Manish-Giri right, but i never get that far. usually I want the value of the current index of the map so i use Array.map((value) => {...}) and sometimes i need the value and the index so i use Array.map((value, index) => {...}) but now I just need the index and not the value
I've been doing it that way, but seems silly to pass the value and not use it

@Egan1572 You don't need to put it into the html part. You have already put an id="cat-photo-form" there. And you have a green style hooked on it in your styles too. You just don't get the selector right. It should be an #cat-photo-form not what you have there

@thekholm80 there's a JS/Node version too

const driver = neo4j.driver(uri, neo4j.auth.basic(user, password));
const session = driver.session();

const resultPromise = session.writeTransaction(tx => tx.run(
  'CREATE (a:Greeting) SET a.message = $message RETURN a.message + ", from node " + id(a)',
  {message: 'hello, world'}));

resultPromise.then(result => {
  session.close();

  const singleRecord = result.records[0];
  const greeting = singleRecord.get(0);

  console.log(greeting);

  // on application exit:
  driver.close();
});

I might just use this.
