How do I remove the special symbols? I am working on Check for Palindromes, and here is my code: function palindrome(str) {
var arr = str.split("");
var reversedArr = arr.reverse();
var backToString = reversedArr.join("");
var res = backToString.toLowerCase();
if (res == str) {
return true;
}
if (res !== str) {
return false;
}

}

palindrome("_eye");

@coymeetsworld How do I do that?
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld

try looking at the links they provide you
you need to remove anything thats not a letter or number from the string and compare it with the reverse of the string, also w/ non alphanumeric characters removed

its most likely a problem with NaN
which you are not checking for
Chris

I dunno. You'd think it would filter null then and keep the NaN. Since it wouldn't match, it would push it to the array

@LordFifth I am not advanced enough to use DOM. If you tick the box "no additional dialogs" it goes awat
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
May 12 2017 01:04
@Emmanuel-L kind of like that. you can have lots of attributes (like src or class or style or alt) in a single element
Matthew White
@LordFifth
May 12 2017 01:04
@TayCodes look into learning it, inputs are fairly easy and much more user friendly
TayCodes
@TayCodes
May 12 2017 01:05
@thekholm80 I have and apparently it's not helping. What I don't get is that I want one of the conditions to be true for the loop to stop so what's wrong? I don't understand why it's not stopping when one of the conditions is met :(
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
May 12 2017 01:05
@TayCodes so with the number 1995 when will one of those conditions be true?
TinhHuynh
@TinhHuynh
May 12 2017 01:07
The true contition is (year[0] == 1 || year[0] ==2) && year.lenght == 4
TayCodes
@TayCodes
May 12 2017 01:07
@thekholm80 when its length is 4 and it starts with 1. Like I said in my mind I don't understand why it's an infinite loop and I have done the lessons on FCC and those were fine
TinhHuynh
@TinhHuynh
May 12 2017 01:07

Your h1 element should have the class pink-text.
Your <style> should have a pink-text CSS class with its color set to pink.
Your h1 element should be pink.

does this look right guys?

<style>
body {

pink-text pink;

Kyle Holm

lastName.length returns the length of the variable lastName if the length is 8 and you subtract 1, that will equal 7

yep!
but why does adding the variable name before the bracket notation give us a letter instead of a number now

[] after a variable means you are referencing a specific position in that string or array

1)Emphasize the text in your target4 button by adding HTML tags.
2)Make sure the text is otherwise unchanged.
3)Do not alter any other text.
4)Make sure you are using .html() and not .text().
5)Make sure to select button id="target4" with jQuery.

Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
May 12 2017 02:22
@dairyman87 value is assigned with an = so href='value'
change the value to #
Danish
@dairyman87
May 12 2017 02:24
@thekholm80 so I would have to remove the link and replace with #?

@Hans7777
May 12 2017 02:29

<img src="https://www.your-image-source.com/your-image.jpg">

All img elements must have an alt attribute. The text inside an alt attribute is used for screen readers to improve accessibility and is displayed if the image fails to load.

Lets add an alt attribute to our img example above:

<img src="https://www.your-image-source.com/your-image.jpg" alt="Author standing on a beach with two thumbs up. ">

Note that in most cases, img elements are self-closing.

Try it with this image:

Could anyone help me get started on what I need to do?

To get started, we should nest all of our HTML in a div element with the class container-fluid.

Run tests (ctrl + enter)
Reset Help Bug
Your div element should have the class container-fluid.
Make sure your div element has a closing tag.
Make sure you have nested all HTML elements in .container-fluid.

@muzcmancoder91

To get started, we should nest all of our HTML in a div element with the class container-fluid.

so you should nest all yout html element to a div element and add a class="container-fluid" parameter on it

@fdemaa sometimes in huge project you have lots of html, or maybe you're injecting some via Javascript, so you are not sure of how's the structure.
That's where parent and children are useful... you don't need to know the whole tree but what's relative to the desired element :+1:

type and placeholder are attributes for the input element… which is non-existent in your code. Also action is an attribute for the form only.

__mifflin__

May 12 2017 05:28

@Bertholomeus: Nesting means putting one element inside of another. Here’s an ex:

<div class="Bertholomeus">
  <img src="Bertholomeus.png" alt="Bertholomeus pic">
</div>

The img element is nested/placed inside of the div element.

The sigh wasn’t directed towards your code. Nesting is a hard thing to grasp for the first time.

Hey, I'm having trouble solving the Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors. I'm stuck on the Only add one class with each of your three selectors. It seems like i have the right code but it wont let me move forward . Here is my code: <script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("button").addClass ("animated");
$(".btn").addClass ("shake");
$("#target1").addClass ("btn-primary");
$("#target").addClass ("button" ".btn" "#target1")

});
