@davijm:

  1. class, id, and style are attributes. Attributes only go inside the opening tags of an element. You currently have the class and id attributes in the correct location, bu the style attribute is not.

  2. You are supposed to use inline-styling to make the element have a color of white… thus you don’t write any styles to make it white in the style tags, but in the element only. Reference what you did here: https://www.freecodecamp.com/challenges/change-the-color-of-text

Nest one div element with the class well within each of your col-xs-6 div elements.

  var weatherInfo = (response.city + "," + response.country + "&appid=f82665385ef6e5c96ce039f7708ec28c")
  $("#location").html(response.city + ", " + response.region + " (" + response.country+")")
}, "jsonp")
@grfraser then you try to use it here:
$.get("api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather?q=" + weatherInfo, function(response) {
  console.log(response.temp)
  //display weather
  $("#temperature").html(response.temp)
}, "json")

@thekholm80 so:
var weatherInfo = (response.city + "," + response.country + "&appid=f82665385ef6e5c96ce039f7708ec28c")

$.get("https://ipinfo.io", function(response) {

  console.log(weatherInfo)
  $("#location").html(response.city + ", " + response.region + " (" + response.country+")")
}, "jsonp")

  //*NOT WORKING BELOW*
  //enter city and country into url in order to get weather info
  $.get("api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather?q=" + weatherInfo, function(response) {
  console.log(response.temp)
  //display weather
  $("#temperature").html(response.temp)

@grfraser that won't work because response.city + "," + response.country don't exist when you declare the variable

Kyle Holm

i'd just do var weatherInfo = "" at the top then
$.get("https://ipinfo.io", function(response) {
  console.log(response.city, response.region, response.country, response.loc)
  weatherInfo = (response.city + "," + response.country + "&appid=f82665385ef6e5c96ce039f7708ec28c")

Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
May 17 2017 00:42
@grfraser if you declare the variable outside that function, then it will have global scope and you can use it anywhere
grfraser
@grfraser
May 17 2017 00:43
@thekholm80 but the example you gave makes it local right
__mifflin__
@cdrainxv
May 17 2017 00:43

You could also capture the weatherInfo data inside a function.

getWeather(weatherInfo);

and then:

function getWeather(weatherInfo) {
   $.get(….)

}

Then that variable will be accessible for your get request.

grfraser
@grfraser
May 17 2017 00:43
var weatherInfo = (response.city + "," + response.country + "&appid=f82665385ef6e5c96ce039f7708ec28c")

$.get("https://ipinfo.io", function(response) {
weatherInfo = (response.city + "," + response.country + "&appid=f82665385ef6e5c
  console.log(response.city, response.region, response.country, response.loc)
  console.log(weatherInfo)
  $("#location").html(response.city + ", " + response.region + " (" + response.country+")")
}, "jsonp")
? @thekholm80
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
May 17 2017 00:44
@cdrainxv that's actually a better way, but he's only doing anonymous functions
@grfraser you can't do var weatherInfo = (response.city + "," + response.country + "&appid=f82665385ef6e5c96ce039f7708ec28c")
that's why i suggested var weatherInfo = "";

CSS has a property called width that controls an element's width. Just like with fonts, we'll use px (pixels) to specify the image's width.

For example, if we wanted to create a CSS class called larger-image that gave HTML elements a width of 500 pixels, we'd use:

<style>
.larger-image {
width: 500px;
}
</style>
Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide.

Hello all (again), I have a question. Is it necessary to follow all the instructions even if you can do the same function with minimum input. I have been searching for "Forms" on Google an saw couple of videos as I didn't understand that concept on FreeCodeCamp that clearly. And I am at "Add a Submit Button to a Form" challenge. But it is not letting me to put simple instructions like: <input type="submit"> which is actually doing the same thing as: <button type="submit">Submit</button>

@formerbatman From w3c:

„Buttons created with the BUTTON element function just like buttons created with the INPUT element, but they offer richer rendering possibilities: the BUTTON element may have content. For example, a BUTTON element that contains an image functions like and may resemble an INPUT element whose type is set to "image", but the BUTTON element type allows content.”
