this is the code I have

<img class="smaller-image"src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. ">
<img class="thick-green-border">

<style>

Multiple classes are added like this:
class="red-text blue-text green-text"
Notice the space between each class and only one set of quotes and one class attribute.

@iamcgs , I notice that you are using bootstrap. Your code is using BS 3 but you have selected BS4 (alpha) in the settings. The classes and styles for BS3 is not compatible with BS4. That is why you are seeing that problem on your mobile. Further, FCC uses BS3.

@youngcoder7 .red-text {color: red;} gives you a class called red-text, this should go inside <style> tags at the top. this class can then be applied to any/many items on the page instead of using the inline version of style="color: red;" on each element
Roxroy
@roxroy
May 21 2017 03:10
@tanvi-the-cat , id is unique - it just for 1 element. However, a class can be applied to one or more elements. Eg a page has 1 nav bar, but u can have multiple social share buttons on a page.

@petegivens you're missing the actual media queries. the @include calls mixins

@petegivens for example:

@mixin mobile {
  @media (max-width: #{ $mobile-width }) {
    @content;
  }
}

@mixin tablet {
  @media (min-width: #{ $mobile-width + 1 }) and (max-width: #{ $laptop-width }) {
    @content;
  }
}

@mixin laptop {
  @media (min-width: #{ $laptop-width + 1 }) and (max-width: #{ $desktop-width }) {
    @content;
  }
}

@mixin desktop {
  @media (min-width: #{ $desktop-width + 1}) {
    @content;
  }
}

then you'd call each mixin with @include mobile {...} etc

keeping in mind that the widths are variables in this example, so you'd have to actually set those

I would recommend storing your quotes in an array…. then you wouldn’t need to write all that if/else statements. Always strive to not repeat code. Curently there’s a lot of repetition in that code.

@Ledinhtanan which part are you on? are you trying to do inline styles or move from inline styles to style tags and classes?
@anselayala it will be like your .red-text {color: red;} class but with the properties explained in the tutorial.
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
May 21 2017 04:07

@Ledinhtanan - it looks like you have two separate things mixed together. You are trying to define a style that will color the text of the <h2> elements blue. So within your <style> tags you should have:

<style>
h2 {
    color: blue;
}
</style>

You should not have the actual <h2> element within the style tags. That should be down in the <body> section (or at least after the closing </style> tag, and as a result of properly-declared CSS, the text of the H2 element when rendered in the output panel should be blue.

correct in what I call the instructions tab AKA <style> but once you label the info within the instructions, you then go to the line of code you need to follow these instructions and embed the code "html" into the line of code
so yes, it would be .thick-green-border on the <style> but within the HTML it would be thick-green-border

You can build web forms that actually submit data to a server using nothing more than pure HTML. You can do this by specifying an action on your form element.
For example:

<form action="/url-where-you-want-to-submit-form-data"></form>
Nest your text field in a form element. Add the action="/submit-cat-photo" attribute to this form element.

Nest your text input element within a form element.

Make sure your form has an action attribute which is set to /submit-cat-photo

Make sure your form element has a closing tag.

<a href="#"><img class="smaller-image thick-green-border" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. " src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat"></a>

@CarmenPesantez https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/audio
You will have to use autoplay and loop.

Or you find an image with a better resolution.

<< does not have photographic memory lol
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
May 21 2017 07:53
right, well not like alot but all the lessons build on each other
like when you learn how a for loop works, you're not going to be asked in later challenges necessarily to create a for loop
but you may need to use one, it just won't tell you exactly what to do

@knormond yes that's always there, although the less you're reliant on it the faster/better you get at coding
it helps to remember things if you're working on them consistently, better to spend an hour a day for 4-5 days/week than just code over weekends
at least when you're starting out
knormond
@knormond

but i would just stick with FCC for now, don't need to spread yourself too thin
np
and lastly too, you could always reset your challenges and do them over if you want @knormond. It won't erase your progress or your original solution
but if you wanted practice that way you could do it, but kind of hard to learn something by doing the exact same problem over and over
I would save that for maybe later on like after a few months or a year as you'll learn more about code and can write better solutions (i.e. solutions that take less lines/more efficient)

Hi guys, does anyone of you know what is the right answer on "Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors"?

I've written:

<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("button").addclass("animated shake");
$(".btn").addclass("animated shake");
$("#target1").addclass("btn-primary");
});
</script>

Cheers:-)

May Kittens Devour Your Soul
@diomed
May 21 2017 08:22
@krisolem it's addClass
write how it's written in example
js is caseSensitive
Mark
@markwuu
May 21 2017 08:22
function palindrome(str) {
if
(str.replace(/[\W]/g, "").toLowerCase().split("").reverse().join("") === str.replace(/[\W]/g, "").toLowerCase().split("").reverse().join(""))
return true;
else
return false;
}
Hi everyone so im on the palindrome problem and all the palindromes that are indeed palindromes returns true
but none of the false palindromes return false
May Kittens Devour Your Soul
@diomed
May 21 2017 08:23
@krisolem also, if they say 1 class per selector and animated and shake are 2 classes... you should get the point

Your h2 element should use the font Lobster.
Your h2 element should degrade to the font Monospace when Lobster is not available.
Comment out your call to Google for the Lobster font by putting <!-- in front of it. Be sure to close your comment by adding -->.
