@cyberpunk1971 think of the width of you page being 12 spaces long when you make a <div> and give it a class <div class="row"> you are now working witha row. so say you have 3 pictures and you want then to be evenly space in a row across the screen you would devid 12 by 3 which is 4 so each pic need to be put into a col-xs-4 col=colum xs= is for small screens and md=medium screen size and lg=large screen size.so it woul d be written like this

<div class="row">
<div class="col-xs-4">
<img1>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-4> <img2> </div> <div class="col-xs-4>

and then in CSS, style the nav-pills class with a "padding:n" where n is whatever number.

@ScottBland: the .about section should sort information into two columns. I'd like the photo in the right column and the text in the left column.
<div class="about"> <div class="container"> <div class="row"> <div class="col col-md-6 text-center"> <h1>Marc Graci</h1> <p>Somethings about Marc</p> <hr> </div> <div class="col col-md-6"> <img src="https://www.bluesharmonica.com/sites/bluesharmonica.com/files/imagecache/large_cover/images/marcgraci2.jpg"> </div> </div> </div>

Hello, I joined last night and have been slowly going through activities. @robertTHEbrinkley it might seem slower now, but in the long run, itll be the shorter path of learning, the appearance of going further is not the same as truly learning, and then you will get to a point where you get completely stuck because you haven't really learned and don't possess the skills and knowledge to progress, and will most likely have to travel many many steps back to locate what you are missing, patience :)

"Your new image should be below your old one and have the class img-responsive." Not specific enough . . .

Like this?
<a href="#"><img class="smaller-image thick-green-border" src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back."></a>

<a href="#"><img class="image-response" src="https://bit.ly/fcc-running-cats" alt="Cats running."></a>

Or what?

Hey guys, I've hit a complete wall on javascript objects. I don't even know where to start in setting up the syntax for what the instructions are telling me to do. Is there anyone here familiar with javascript that can give me like 5 minutes in a private message to explain to me a little bit more about object property syntax in general, and also help me with the exercise

yes if you do: var obj = { hello: "value"} it will turn it to {"hello": "value"}

@clubbfabiane I don't understand how you were able to declare (i guess classes) in your css script without a ., and then its automatically applied to the html tags? div{} and img {} in your css for example. I don't remember learning that, was it in the lessons or did you know it from somewhere elser?
@Brandonium10 I think I see the problem there m8, look at the top of your code at the script element. tell me if you notice any errors in the basic html syntax for elements
clubbfabiane
@clubbfabiane

@kwdzr3 I learned from my hubby that if you don't put a . it will apply to every one of those tags (e.g. div).
TheyCallMeSnarfy
@TheyCallMeSnarfy
May 31 2017 03:25
@kwdzr3 @clubbfabiane I think that since she isn't using an ID or a specific class for the div and the img, those properties will be applied to ALL divs and ALL img's.

var arr = [10,9,8,7,6];
Remember that Arrays have zero-based numbering, which means the last index of the array is length - 1
i thought i understood that 0-based indexing means that the initial value starts at 0, so wouldnt the last index of the array length be 4 here?

Did anyone else have the problem on the "Add ID Attributes to Bootstrap Elements" challenge where it would only show that you put a left or right ID, even though you put in both?
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
May 31 2017 03:36
@kwdzr3 yes, index 4 is the end, length is 5
Grant Clark
@kwdzr3
May 31 2017 03:36
i swear this has gotta be a typo cause my head is upside down here let me post the whole thing
var arr = [10,9,8,7,6];
for (var i=0; i < arr.length; i++) {
console.log(arr[i]);
}
Remember that Arrays have zero-based numbering, which means the last index of the array is length - 1. Our condition for this loop is i < arr.length, which stops when i is at length - 1.
why doesnt this read "which stops when i is at length 4"?
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
May 31 2017 03:37
because you start counting at 0
TheyCallMeSnarfy
@TheyCallMeSnarfy
May 31 2017 03:37
@kwdzr3 If you wanted to access those values, they'd be ordered like this. arr[0] = 10, arr[1] = 9, arr[2] = 8, arr[3] = 7, arr[4] = 6. index 4 would equate to arr.length - 1.
Grant Clark
@kwdzr3

@kwdzr3

var arr = [10,9,8,7,6];

console.log(arr[i]);
}

just puts each index of the array in the console

Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
May 31 2017 03:40
@kwdzr3 what -1?
TheyCallMeSnarfy
@TheyCallMeSnarfy
May 31 2017 03:40
@kwdzr3 I think you're misunderstanding the instructions from the way they're written. Happens to me all the time. -1 comes from the difference between the index is numbered differently from the length itself. The index values will always be one behind the length of the array it self. This is why arr.length - 1 will always give you the last value of an array.
Grant Clark
@kwdzr3
May 31 2017 03:40
oh ffs i understand now, absolute kurwa, so its (length of the index(5)) subtract 1, = arr[4] (last index of the array)?
TheyCallMeSnarfy
@TheyCallMeSnarfy
May 31 2017 03:40
@kwdzr3 Yes, there you go.
@kwdzr3 That's the logic behind it.
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
May 31 2017 03:41
also, think of i < arr.length as "keep looping while i < arr.length"
so when i === arr.length the loop ends

@AmeDyann Your class and ID names are a little confusing. The way you have it written now will work, technically, but you'll be making all of your h1 elements on the page white. This is why you need a class or ID. IDs tend to be more specific and target one unique element. If you changed your CSS file to #orange-text { color: white} it would work. If you're just using the style tag, <h1 style="color: white">Hello World!</h1> should work.

@logitek242 You have CSS in your HTML element. It should be separate. Give the div a class of "silver-background" and then .silver-background {background-color:silver} in your CSS.

@BalerionZ By pull you mean "pull-right", right? Sorry I keep asking, just want to be sure that's what you're using and not just "pull".

I thought I had it. nested for loops are the reason why I quit programming in the first place.
function multiplyAll(arr) {
var product = 1;
for (var x = 0; x < arr.length; x++){
for(var y = 0; y < arr[x].length; x++){
product *= arr[x][y];
}
}
return product;
}
gives me TypeError: cannot read property 'length' of undefined
The challenge is to take a nested array input and multiply all the values
