black all 0s, white all fs.

You need to close off your ul element. I would also suggest moving your css to the css tab. Also of note is that the center element and align attribute are deprecated… so yuse the bootstrap text-center class for text and center-block for elements instead.

@Manish-Giri think it's the same idea in node callbacks when you declare error as the first thing:

callback(data, err) {
   if (err) exit
   [...]
}

So you save runtime in case it's error :)

Jun 05 2017 03:26
@Marmiz right, I get the error handling part, but what about the case where you're adding a node in an empty linked list? Like in that case -
head is already null, so the node you're adding has to be the head now right? so that the next time you add a node, you'll modify this node(the current head)'s next reference to point to the new node you're adding..
because if not, the new node you created will be lost in wilderness

Hey folks, I'm learning to use .map to change values within an array and my code seems correct, but I'm not getting past the exercise as the test run still comes up [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Any suggestions?
var oldArray = [1,2,3,4,5];

var plusThree = oldArray.map(function(val) {
                           return val + 3;

@SuyogRK btw you can shorten all of that into "return str.split(' ').map(func(){}).reduce(func(){});"
@SuyogRK you can also, instead of writing "if(currVal>prevVal){return currVal;}else return prevVal", do "return currVal > prevVal? currVal : prevVal;"
that thing with the ? and : is called the ternary operator, look it up.

// Only change code below this line.
$.getJSON("/json/cats.json", function(json) {
$(".message").html(JSON.stringify(json));

@taiJones00: Just remove the $target.focus() lines as a horizontal blue line appears when the page scrolls to the selected section.
$("html, body").animate(
    {
       scrollTop: target.offset().top
    },
    1000,
    function() {
       var $target = $(target);
       $target.attr("tabindex", "-1");
    }
);

@splashify nest basically just means "put inside of"
so you want to make a div, give it a class called container-fluid and make sure that it open's before everything else and closes AFTER everything else. . . then everything is "nested" inside of it. . .
Tai Jones
@taiJones00
Jun 05 2017 05:57
so you see the orange lines too? @cdrainxv

Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri

@dbseeker html elements are specific to what they represent. . . for the most part. . .
Steve
@dbseeker
Jun 05 2017 06:15
so wait, under what circumstances would you then use element?
Michael Croteau
@micqey
Jun 05 2017 06:15
@dbseeker like <p> is for paragraph. . . <h1> is for heading 1. . .
@dbseeker you wouldn't ever use element, element is a generic term for any html tag
kinda
like an image is an element
or a paragraph is an element
etc

The following doesn't assign a silver background to the div element:

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}

.thick-green-border {
border-color: green;
border-width: 10px;
border-style: solid;
border-radius: 50%;
}

.smaller-image {
width: 100px;
}

.background-silver {
background-color: silver
}

</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Click here for <a href="#">cat photos</a>.</p>

<a href="#"><img class="smaller-image thick-green-border" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. " src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat"></a>

<div> class="background-silver"
<p>Things cats love:</p>
<ul>
<li>cat nip</li>
<li>laser pointers</li>
<li>lasagna</li>
</ul>
<p>Top 3 things cats hate:</p>
<ol>
<li>flea treatment</li>
<li>thunder</li>
<li>other cats</li>
</ol>
</div>

<form action="/submit-cat-photo">
<label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor" checked> Indoor</label>
<label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> Outdoor</label>
<label><input type="checkbox" name="personality" checked> Loving</label>
<label><input type="checkbox" name="personality"> Lazy</label>
<label><input type="checkbox" name="personality"> Energetic</label>
<input type="text" placeholder="cat photo URL" required>
<button type="submit">Submit</button>
</form>

@ChadSax ok um.. you did ok but you added the classes to a div around the h3 element.. the exercises asks you to add those classes to the h3 itself..

Hi, can i just ask I am only in early parts of the challenges on freecodecamp but I am just wondering in another coding tool i use they said you should separate CSS styling from HTML, is this true and if so why am putting all the code on the same page here?
ChadSax
@ChadSax
Jun 05 2017 06:22
easy
Darren
@DarrenfJ
Jun 05 2017 06:23
@ChadSax there's nothing wrong with what you did.. and there's often a good case for using divs around everything. .but in this specific exercises they just wanted it in the h3 itself
@Ruaridhi they're working you up to eventually putting the code in another style sheet..
specifically because they want you to learn how it all interacts on one page on one app
