Jun 14 2017 00:00
@5millerk
1) you're missing a closing </div> tag for your col-xs-12
2) try adding .container { max-width: 100%; } in the CSS
for some reason it's turning off the width constraints when the screen gets too small

@ragobash i would just use <div> elements or <section> elements. Give them different backgrounds or lay out the content differently within each one to make it interesting. You will automatically be able to scroll if you have enough content on the page
and yeah, just About, Portfolio, and Contact sections will be fine

    background-image: url("img_girl.jpg");

    /* Full height */
    height: 100%;

    background-position: center;
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-size: cover;
}

in the bootstrap tutorial, where you're making that cat photo app, the bootstrap rows and columns all display within a nice padding. However, on codepen, everything is being pushed to the edge of the screen. What's the difference?
Margaret
@Margaret2

general question, is there a reason to ever us col-md instead of col-xs (or any of the other sizes). I know they are intended for larger screens, but if the entire point of bootstrap is that it is reflexive then why should you need to determine screen size in the code?
intervolver
@intervolver
Jun 14 2017 01:17
@Margaret2 https://www.freecodecamp.com/challenges/use-responsive-design-with-bootstrap-fluid-containers I'm using the method described here, is it wrong? it shows using the href

"You can add Bootstrap to any app by adding the following code to the top of your HTML:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css"/>"

Margaret

if you want a different layout for different screen sizes, like you might be able to tile multiple images on a large screen, but you might want each image to take up full width on a phone @5millerk

Your p element should have the text "View more " (with a space after it)

I'm sorry if I am not in right place to ask help! Can someone take a look at my site: http://ioetieuhoc.net/ , it loaded seem slow a little bit (4-5 secs) due to some js/css files I could not figure out (content loaded really fast). I need help to find those files to improve my site's preformance. Thanks in advanced! ;)

I don't understand this exercise. These are my tasks: Your h2 element should use the font Lobster.
Your h2 element should degrade to the font Monospace when Lobster is not available.
Comment out your call to Google for the Lobster font by putting <!-- in front of it. Be sure to close your comment by adding -->. But when I comment out the call to Google, the h2 element reverts to using the Monospace font. How could I satisfy both requests at the same time?

I am completely new to coding. I belive I just finished the Tribute Page Activity. I felt pretty good about the lessons up to the Tribute page. I thought I would be able to make the tribute page a little more fancy; but at a certain point I figured I was just spending too much time. My big hang up was centering a the picture. I tried multiple ways. Ultimately I asked for help on this chat earlier today and someone told me I had the wrong bootstrap on codepen. I thought I followed the example video and clicked add bootstrap on the drop down CSS menu. So I tried adding the bootstrap link I was given today. It was the same link of bootstrap from our lesson 1 of bootstrap. I still couldn't center it the way I wanted - so I centered by adding margin in CSS. I am not certain that is correct. It looks like it works on the PC. In the future I am suppose to add the link: http://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.37/css /bootstrap.min.css manually?

@LauS1020 best thing to do in codepen is put all of your html in the html box, the css in the css box and the JavaScript/jQuery in the javascript box
@LauS1020 so in the css box you would need to add
.smaller-image {

Jun 14 2017 04:11

Change the Font Size of an Element
Font size is controlled by the font-size CSS property, like this:

h1 {
font-size: 30px;
}
Create a second p element after the existing p element with the following kitty ipsum text: Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.

Inside the same <style> tag that contains your red-text class, create an entry for p elements and set the font-size to 16 pixels (16px).

Note
Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.

Also, please do not add a class attribute to your new p element.

Jun 14 2017 04:12
You need 2 p elements with Kitty Ipsum text.
Make sure each of your p elements has a closing tag.
Your p element should contain the first few words of the provided additional kitty ipsum text.
The first p element should have the class red-text.
Do not add a class attribute to the second p element.
Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100%.

@asali133 when you have added it to your img, you can then select the class in the css style. Here is an example with a different class name and different width
.addClassName{
width: 200px;
}
</style>
...
// so you want the smaller-image class to take effect on the img element. You do this
// by adding the smaller-image class to it, so its width will change.
<img class="addClassName" src="...">

@ravikishorethella I thought about that but since I'm using lat and long co-ords I need to estimate nearest town/city. The app could crash or load forever if someone was in a remote place since distance from nearest town is proportional to time needed to compute nearest city.
