Nesting is simply the way you put elements inside others, in a tree-like structure.

placing any element in another is nesting:

Hello, experienced campers! I'm working on "Give a Background Color to a Div Element

h2 {

}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;

.thick-green-border {
border-color: green;
border-width: 10px;
border-style: solid;
border-radius: 50%;
}

.smaller-image {
width: 100px;
}

div {background-color: silver;}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Click here for <a href="#">cat photos</a>.</p>

<a href="#"><img class="smaller-image thick-green-border" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. " src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat"></a>

<div>

<p>Things cats love:</p>
<ul>
<li>cat nip</li>

<p>Top 3 things cats hate:</p>

@ravikishorethella it says first add a script element at the top of your page. be sure to close it on the following line. Your browser will run any JavaScript inside a script element, including jQuery.

Inside your script element, add this code: $(document).ready(function() { to your script. Then close it on the following line (still inside your script element) with: });

We'll learn more about functions later. The important thing to know is that code you put inside this function will run as soon as your browser has loaded your page.

This is important because without your document ready function, your code may run before your HTML is rendered, which would cause bugs.

okay i am done with my tribute page. but i noticed when i minimize the page, everything shrinks to scale except my image. it stays big and moves to the right
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Jun 16 2017 02:27
@MRLSU you are adding two/three class at a time:
("animated shake");
Split them, one class for each selector
Taylor Esco
@TheAgentEsco
Jun 16 2017 02:27
then when i maximize, it looks fine
MRLSU
@MRLSU

is it img-responsive class? or what the hell
Ravi Kishore Thella
@ravikishorethella

@MRLSU animated shake etc.. that's what the challenge is about. add only one class
MRLSU

So I should do ("animated shake")("btn-primary)("...);
?
Ravi Kishore Thella

Jun 16 2017 02:28
@MRLSU not like that
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Jun 16 2017 02:29
@TheAgentEsco if you are using bootstrap add img-responsive as a class to the image,
otherwise give it a width:100% height:auto display:block
Taylor Esco
@TheAgentEsco
Jun 16 2017 02:29
okay i am going to show you what i have. I tried the img-responsive.
Ravi Kishore Thella

@MRLSU here in your code you have used two classes
$("button").addClass("animated shake");
but, you need to use only one animated, inthe next one you need to use shake etc

Can someone let me know why my images are two different sizes? I was under the impression that container-fluid would make them the same size
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Jun 16 2017 02:33
@TheAgentEsco so you gave the image a width and height? That's why it's not resizing. The image will always be that size :)
Taylor Esco

.picture{
margin-top: -20px;
margin-left: -20px;
margin-right: 50px;
margin-bottom: 25px;
height: 500px;
width: 750px;
ohhh, so if i take out all that crap in the style section and put img-responsive, it will work?
the only reason i have it that way is to fit inside the purple box i have
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Jun 16 2017 02:34
@TheAgentEsco this are the problems: height: 500px; width: 750px; the image will have this fixed size.
You can either assign them as max-width or use percentage width: 20%

@BrianRostro img responsive give the image max-width:100% height:auto So it won't change how big the images are, but how bing in relationship to the parent div size.
Your issue is that one image is 320x320 an the other is 480xsomething They are different

@LauS1020 if you want to navigate in the same page you can wrap the button inside an a with the src as an id inside the page:

@LauS1020 target="_blank" open a new page.
If you are coding in Codepen you cannot open a page inside the same pen page for security reason. It's one limitation of working there.
But In a "real"page, a link (without blank) will work as you imagine, will redirect the browser to the linked page

Can anyone explain what do the following lines do in the whole code?
Here is my thought about the above code. Can you tell me whether I get the point or not?
json.forEach(function(val) { //for each values in the json file
  var keys = Object.keys(val);          //keys is defined as the keys(id, imageLink, ...) in each values, where "values" is the stuff with { }
  html += "<div class = 'cat'>";
  keys.forEach(function(key) { //run a function with parameter "key" which is defined as the single items in "keys" (id, imageLink, ...)
    html += "<strong>" + key + "</strong>: " + val[key] + "<br>";
  });
  html += "</div><br>";
});
Can you tell me whether the explanation in gray color is a correct explanation of the code next to it is correct or not?
I wanna check my concept

You need 2 p elements with Kitty Ipsum text.
Make sure each of your p elements has a closing tag.
Your p element should contain the first few words of the provided additional kitty ipsum text.
The first p element should have the class red-text.
Do not add a class attribute to the second p element.
Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100%.

@vittorioVT I'm not talking about the gutter, which is a uniform 15px on all margins, I'm talking about an extra 15px only on the right side, more noticeable on a small display. I have tried multiple ways to remove it, including margin-right: -15px !important;, margin-left: -15px !important; margin-right: -15 !important;, and multiple others. The only results I've gotten are either nothing, or forcing the whole display extreme left. I can link my pen if it would help clarify
