Sometimes you want to add a elements to your website before you know where they will link.

This is also handy when you're changing the behavior of a link using jQuery, which we'll learn about later.

Replace the value of your a element's href attribute with a #, also known as a hash symbol, to turn it into a dead link.

<p>Click here for <a href ="http://www.freecatphotoapp.com">cat photos</a>.</p>

@HAWKKER This user story is bit ambiguous. I think what they are meaning is having links in your navbar to go to different pages on your site.

good evening everyone, i've got a general question
so i'm in a section that involves boxes
i'm looking at a green, yellow, and red box.
the CSS lines nested in <style> look like .yellow-box{ background-color......etc
the <div section has such things like
<div class="box yellow-box">
<h5 class="box red-box">padding</h5>
<h5 class="box green-box">padding</h5>
</div>
sounds kind of silly to ask but
does putting the word box after the equal sign like say
<h5 class="box red-box">padding</h5>
does HTML know that I actually want to make a box just because i put the word box in there?
Jan Shah
@JanShah
Jun 25 2017 02:55
@jokerzyco no
short answer to a long question, you make the style and name it box
but you can name it whatever you want. What you're seeing is two different styles applied to each of the elements

You should add $(document).ready(function() { to the beginning of your script element.
Close your $(document).ready(function() { function with });

what all of us need is not to worry about the language as much but first start with the logic. @UsmanAhmadSaeed do you know where to put the border radius code in here?
I've tried putting it literally everywhere but hasn't worked. plus the guide doesn't tell what to put in there exactly
I mean the exact code
maybe I'm putting the wrong code in it @UsmanAhmadSaeed

@UsmanAhmadSaeed
Jun 25 2017 03:52

Some people get to the solution quicker than others, but the real trick to being a programmer is syntax and semantics are just noise required to express the solution in a particular programming language.

First get a solution, then implement it in your language of choice. There may end up being better ways of expressing it in that language, but try to first express it in a "language" that feels natural to you, then translate. Hope this helps @daddycardona

Put that in your thick green border image in style tag @AliChangz
I.e. in your class in style tag and that is border-radius:50%;

@UsmanAhmadSaeed do you work in the field arleady you sound very knowledgable
:)
Usman Ahmad Saeed
@UsmanAhmadSaeed
Jun 25 2017 03:55
@daddycardona don't think intuitively - stick with only thinking logically. I have experienced that many people read code, don't fully understand it and then go with "well, I know what it's supposed to do, so those lines there somehow seem to do that". That doesn't do any good for learning programming. The code only does exactly what is written down there. Step by step. If you don't see how that's gonna work out, than most likely the code isn't doing what you think it is.
Same goes for writing code. The first thing you have in your midn when developing a programm is what it is supposed to do. But that is in an non-procedural form - your midn doesn't work procedurally. It works intuitively. In human mindes it's all about ideas and prototypes. There are no exact algorithms, our minds are not powerfull enough to do everything so accurately. SO the next step is to structure your ideas. Split it into small parts. Than split those again. And again. Until you have lots of simple tasks that can be done in a few (normally 10-20 steps at max!) steps. To not loose the big picture, make diagrams, or at least some notes, of how all those small steps should work together at the end. Keep in mind: your brain won't be able to get the whole big thing together in procedural style at once. At least mine is not ;) Last part is to just write down EVERY SINGLE STEP. Than assemble them together. And you're done. Congratulations.
Like what in the field? Lol I remember those chalmenges in the map upto get set for front end dev

Lol, I'm capped out at Unemployment and instagram is bringing in a trickle of ad-rev and tshirt sales are upticking so all combined - I can code a lot which is nice
@MRLSU Yes. The whole impetus for learning to code is to create my own IG. The algortithm changes, non transparency, no care for content creators and shadow abns has led me to beileve there is a better way --think "17" in China, where my account is killing it
But getting yuan to BC to paypal to USD is very expensive so gotta find another way - learne to code

@MRLSU Appropriation has more to do with copyright infringement and can apply to anything not just IG. There are 5 things that must be changed in every edit to not get sued in Federal Court. I finally slacked off and posted an edit with only 4 of 5 changes. I'm sure Marvel complained and the rest is history. But I did make it over 300 days/edits before slipping

Use the $("button") selector.
Use the $(".btn") selector.
Use the $("#target1") selector.
Only add one class with each of your three selectors.
Your #target1 element should have the classes animated‚ shake and btn-primary.
Only use jQuery to add these classes to the element.

Hi, all. I'm need your help again.

var jsonURL = 'https://api.apixu.com/v1/current.json?key=d17984abc94c4938bf1163738172406&q=';

if (navigator.geolocation) {
  navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(function(position) {
 jsonURL = jsonURL + position.coords.latitude + "," + position.coords.longitude;
  });
} else {
  jsonURL += prompt('Your City:', '');
}

Why the variable jsonURL, doesn't change outside the function. Isn't it the global variable?

Each challenge has tests that you can run at any time by clicking the "Run tests" button. Once you get all tests passing, you can advance to the next challenge.

To pass the test on this challenge, change your h1 element's text to say "Hello World" instead of "Hello". Then click the "Run tests" button.

@ACSlater8

function wordBlanks(myNoun, myAdjective, myVerb, myAdverb) {
  return "A " + myAdjective + " " + myNoun + " " + myVerb + " " + myAdverb;
}

// Change the words here to test your function
wordBlanks("dog", "big", "ran", "quickly");

just combine given words! ^^
