@Elijbet you don't need a filter function
and that filter function wouldn't work anyways, its not filtering anything

you still need to have a push function, that goes in your callback function for map

Jul 03 2017 00:15

@SkyC0der Ohhhhh....I don't think I've discovered those yet. Here's what Quincy posted in Sept of 2016: Update September 29, 2016: Twitch has changed their API and now requires an API key in order to run queries. If you are using CodePen or GitHub pages to build these, we do not recommend adding an API key to your project for security reasons.

Instead of using Twitch's API, we recommend hard-coding this JSON4.4k into your app as a variable. It is a series of responses for different accounts from Twitch. Here's the link to the JSON he posted: https://gist.github.com/QuincyLarson/2ff6892f948d0b7118a99264fd9c1ce8

@beowulfskin Yeah, that is outdated information. Use the instructions here: https://www.freecodecamp.com/challenges/use-the-twitchtv-json-api
The data point you can use is listed in step 10.
You'll likely get more help with this project over in the Front End room - https://gitter.im/FreeCodeCamp/HelpFrontEnd

@coymeetsworld I don't understand how to implement push/concat...
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Jul 03 2017 00:19
push function is not going to change much, the big change is replacing the for loop with a map function instead
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
Jul 03 2017 00:19

@Elijbet The .map() method takes an argument, so to list all the movies, you would do:

var rating = watchList.map(function(movie) {
  return movie;
});

console.log(rating);

You'll need to parse each "movie" that you loop through to return the relevant Title and imdbRating

eliza khachatryan
@Elijbet
Jul 03 2017 00:20
okay... one sec
Gulsvi
@gulsvi

@SebasDuranona text-align: center on the parent element. It's an inline element, like an image. So the same as an image.

So is basically bootstrap imported via jquery? Than we are able to use the whole bootstrap library? Is it working like an object ? Not really clear how it works
do you have any article to rad about this? To narrow down this
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Jul 03 2017 02:39
think of boostrap js like a car
a car needs an engine to work
jQuery is that engine
without engine, there's no car
if you head to the bootstrap js docs - http://getbootstrap.com/javascript/
read the section on the top labelled "plugin dependencies"
Plugin dependencies
Some plugins and CSS components depend on other plugins. If you include plugins individually, make sure to check for these dependencies in the docs. Also note that all plugins depend on jQuery (this means jQuery must be included before the plugin files). Consult our bower.json to see which versions of jQuery are supported.

@ericmiller777 if you mean moving them more to the center you could try putting them in a div and making it a size you want.. or if yer using bootstrap offset some columns or something
@ericmiller777 i like the choice for the tribute page as well... :D

You can make it neat with some changes in margin values
Try giving margin-top to those sections @Yonatan1

// Only change code below this line
var lookup = {

};
result = lookup[val];
// Only change code above this line

// Change this value to test

I really did not understand “ result = lookup[val]; "
Can someone help to explain this?
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Jul 03 2017 06:14
@Azerop if you have an object
var obj = {
name: "John"
}
and if you have a variable, which "contains" the name property -
var prop = "name";
you need to use bracket notation to fetch the property's value -
obj[prop]; // "John"
tao
@Azerop
Jul 03 2017 06:20
But i can i understand this: lookup[val]? because val do not equal to any property name of object lookup.
@Manish-Giri
Can not understand.
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Jul 03 2017 06:21
that's what I just said
val isn't a direct property in lookup
val is a variable which holds the property name
it could be val = "alpha";
or val = "charlie"
or any of the property names

Emphasize the text in your target4 button by adding HTML tags.
Make sure the text is otherwise unchanged.
Do not alter any other text.
Make sure you are using .html() and not .text().
Make sure to select button id="target4" with jQuery.

@heroiczero there you go
heroiczero
@heroiczero
Jul 03 2017 09:28
@mavkut container-fluid class is already defined in the bootstrap css
@mavkut you have to we should nest all of our HTML in a div element with the class container-fluid. and "In this case, we've already added it for you to this page behind the scenes." so you you do not need <link rel="stylesheet" href="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css"/>
@mavkut you just have to use div with a class ofcontainer-fluid in your HTML code after the </style> tag and close it at the end

} else
return "No such contact";
}
// Only change code above this line
}

// Change these values to test your function
lookUpProfile("Akira", "likes");

Can someone help to fix this?

The function should check if firstName is an actual contact's firstName and the given property (prop) is a property of that contact.

If both are true, then return the "value" of that property.

If firstName does not correspond to any contacts then return "No such contact"

If prop does not correspond to any valid properties then return "No such property”

I have no idea where i made some mistakes.

Hello FCC world. I am working on a portfolio site but am having issues with the mobile off-canvas menu.

To access the mobile scheme: shrink the window screen size

The issue that I am having is that when the mobile hamburger menu button is pressed, the body screen scrolls to the top. The menu should be operating independent of the content, but it's not. Any help on what the cause could be would be greatly appreciated.

Jul 03 2017 17:59

@KlausMana @coderstravel

var num = 5;
num = num + 1; // 6
num += 1; // 7
num++; // 8

See how the one for getting num from 7 to 8 doesn't use the assignment operator (=)?
The lesson is requesting that you recreate that process so that you know how to increment and decrement a number with short notation.

Increment (++) The increment operator increments (adds one to) its operand and returns a value.
If used postfix, with operator after operand (for example, x++), then it returns the value before incrementing.
If used prefix with operator before operand (for example, ++x), then it returns the value after incrementing.

Side note: The lesson is trying to teach you this now because this process is useful later when you need to loop through things to quickly increment (++) or the reverse decrement (--) from a value.

The answer is:
myVar++;

@shubhamadityan both the classes should be added in the same class attribute

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the problem. I use a screen reader, and it won't speak the text, so I write the code in my text editor and paste it in. Does the system change the color of the text it thinks is incorrect, or change the font or something to give you a clue about what it thinks is wrong? I noticed that when I have something wrong, it just repeats the goal of the lesson.
