you need to put content inside the div @akosuadenell
divs wont render by default w/o anything on it, alternatively you can set a fixed width/height to demo it
you should also terminate each attribute name/value pair with a semicolon

They are different. HTML is what shows on the page. CSS is to style what shows on the page.

hey you guys so i used margin-left to move a bootstrap button and now it no longer changes when you hover....
is there a lot better way to move the buttons?
its the about one that no longer works
the other two work fine, and they are basically a copy/paste except for the margin distances

__mifflin__

Jul 04 2017 02:36

@akjellis: Move this:

$(document).ready(function() {
  var greeting;
  var date = new Date();
  var hour = date.getHours();
  var minute = date.getMinutes();
  var second = date.getSeconds();
  if (minute < 10) {
    minute = "0" + minute;
  }
  if (second < 10) {
    second = "0" + second;
  }
  if (hour < 12) {
    greeting = "Good Morning";
  } else if (hour < 17) {
    greeting = "Good Afternoon";
  } else {
    greeting = "Good Evening";
  }
  $("#greet").text(greeting);
});

To the JS pane. Also remove the script tags as it’s not required in the JS pane.
Also:
<div class="greet"></div>

it must by default binded to this

I mean to make it work we have to use bind() which sets the context of the function to 'this', and we do not bind that , then the function must be by default binded to something

function destroyer(arr) {

@nibewiahn It appears that rawgit doesn't parse the response header, so you have to do it yourself. Here I'm just using a for loop but a map is probably better:
$.getJSON('https://gist.githubusercontent.com/nibewiahn/7ecb7a5b9c4b0c7db6a7d6220b82a5c0/raw/d18f123d438febd94022969db93238a816a1af9e/quotes.json', (response) => {
  for(i = 0; i < response.length; i++)
    {
        console.log(response[i]);
    }
})

Hello
I started with FreeCodeCamp a few weeks ago and completely new to web development. I am at personal portfolio project it looks so overwhelming right now. There are youtube videos by campers building the entire project. Should I follow those? What else I should do?

@shivamras304

There are youtube videos by campers building the entire project. Should I follow those?

If those videos helps you, watch them.

It depends on your personality and learning style.

Hey there, I'm trying to complete the palindrome challenge and I thought i finally got it but it doesn't work. can somebody check it out and tell me what's wrong in my code ? it always return wrong

function palindrome(str) {
var lowerCase = str.toLowerCase();
var noSpace = lowerCase.replace(/\s+/g, ''); //removespaces and store it into var noSpace
var arrStr = [];
var strLgth = noSpace.length; //get string length and store it
var halfLgth = Math.floor(strLgth/2); //round half the string length and store it

for (i = 0; i<noSpace.length; i++){ //push str into array
arrStr.push(noSpace.charAt(i));
}

if (noSpace.length%2==0){ //checking if it's even character count and return false
return false;
}
else if(noSpace.length%2!=0){
for(i=0; i<halfLgth; i++)
if(arrStr[i] == arrStr[halfLgth]){
return true;
}
else return false;

@eliascarella hmmmm.. yer splitting the string into two and comparing it? var halfLgth = Math.floor(strLgth/2); //round half the string length and store it
why not just reverse it all and compare all to its reverse?
eliascarella
@eliascarella
Jul 04 2017 14:22
this is just to get the count of character until the middle one (granted it's an even number of char)
```
function palindrome(str) {
  var lowerCase = str.toLowerCase();
  var noSpace = lowerCase.replace(/\s+/g, ''); //removespaces and store it into var noSpace
  var arrStr = [];
  var strLgth = noSpace.length; //get string length and store it
  var halfLgth = Math.floor(strLgth/2); //round half the string length and store it
  for (i = 0; i<noSpace.length; i++){ //push str into array
    arrStr.push(noSpace.charAt(i));
    }
   if (noSpace.length%2==0){ //checking if it's even character count and return false
    return false;
  }
  else if(noSpace.length%2!=0){
    for(i=0; i<halfLgth; i++)
      if(arrStr[i] == arrStr[halfLgth]){
        return true;
      }
    else return false;
@eliascarella walk me through your logic...
@eliascarella in what cases will this return true?
        return true;
Doing the longest word count challenge and it works but for some reasons it doesn't pass the test... it says it doesn't return 5 when using the sentence "May the force be with you" but it does...
var lgthMax = 0;
var lgthCurrent = 0;
function findLongestWord(str) {
  var arrWords = str.split(' ');
  for (i=0; i<arrWords.length; i++){
    lgthCurrent = arrWords[i].length;
    if (lgthCurrent > lgthMax){
      lgthMax = lgthCurrent;
    }
  }
  return lgthMax;
}
@dmithun with your current code, you're only checking if last characters match. What you need to check is if str ends with target
for example if str = "Bastian" and target="an" Your logic fails
