Can anyone help? Why does this procedure return a value of false or true?

def fix_machine(debris, product):
    charcnt = product.count("",0)-1
    while charcnt>=0:
        if debris.find(product[charcnt-1]) == -1:
            opt = "Give me something that's not useless next time."
        charcnt = charcnt-1

@Marmiz Sorry for this late response. I'm working on my project locally. The images are broken if I set the source as a file path to image files in my folder. But the images work when I set the source as a url to images I uploaded to the cloud. I've just given up and set the image source as urls.

heroiczero
@heroiczero
Aug 04 2017 11:43
@Zhisione thats why you use different column sizes for different screens like class="col-md-4 col-xs-12" or something like that to account for different screens for this example i am using a column width of 4 for laptops and 12(the whole screen) for the smart phone. you list it to account for different screens so it becomes responsive.

Hey guys JavaScript quite confusing where am I going wrong here
// Example
var changed = 0;

function change(num) {
return (num + 5) / 3;
}

changed = change(10);

// Setup
var processed = 0;

function processArg(num) {
return (num + 3) / 5;
}

// Only change code below this line
var processed = 2;

function processedArg(num) {
return (7);
}

processed = processedArg(7)

Stanley Su
@stanley-su
Aug 04 2017 12:23
@faizilfanie What are you meant to do for the challenge?
@faizilfanie From what you’ve already posted, I assume that the processedArg function shouldn’t be returning 7 everytime. It should process the argument
Fazil
@faizilfanie
Aug 04 2017 12:23

Instructions
Call the processArg function with an argument of 7 and assign its return value to the variable processed.

Run tests (ctrl + enter)
Reset your code
Get a hint

TypeError: processedArg(...) is not a function

processed should have a value of 2
You should assign processArg to processed

@stanley-su understanding the terminology in these lessons also part of the problem
@stanley-su my processed is correct with a value of 2
Stanley Su
@stanley-su
Aug 04 2017 12:26
@faizilfanie You can’t just do processed = 2. That’s cheating.
@faizilfanie Could you link me the challenge please?
Fazil
@faizilfanie
Aug 04 2017 12:28
@stanley-su the lesson has sums I was given a 7 no other figures I'm assuming
Stanley Su
@stanley-su
Aug 04 2017 12:29
@faizilfanie wait omg dude you’re not even meant to define a new processArg function, they already gave one to you
@faizilfanie All you have to do is call the processArg function with an argument of 7, and assign processArg’s return value to the variable ‘processed'
Fazil
@faizilfanie
Aug 04 2017 12:30
Bro I'm just getting by by luck in Javascript lol
Stanley Su
@stanley-su
Aug 04 2017 12:30
@faizilfanie Call the processArg function with an argument of 7 and assign its return value to the variable processed.
@faizilfanie Take it easy. If it’s too hard then you need to go back to the previous challenges or at least try to learn all the terminology.

Eric Weiss
@eweiss17

it tells you the values of your variables as the code executes
Fazil

I had problems earlier with bootstrap was told using beta versions was given link and was working after that
Eric Weiss
@eweiss17
Aug 04 2017 12:38
v4 compared to 3?
Fazil
@faizilfanie
Aug 04 2017 12:42
@eweiss17 Yes v3 works better, those lessons I could understand, most probably terminology getting me here or the math not sure which one?
I'm just going over the questions again and seeing if I can understand better
@stanley-su processed = processedArg(7)-5;

@faizilfanie From the example ourSum = sum(5, 12);

will call sum function, which returns a value of 17 and assigns it to ourSum variable.

Instructions
Call the processArg function with an argument of 7 and assign its return value to the variable processed.

Eric Weiss
@eweiss17
Aug 04 2017 12:46
@faizilfanie that challenge is just calling the function?
you are probably thinking about it to hard. Just look at the example they give you and mimic what they did
Fazil
@faizilfanie
Aug 04 2017 12:48
I thought I did: processed = processedArg(7)-5;
Eric Weiss
@eweiss17
Aug 04 2017 12:48
that is almost correct
Call the processArg function with an argument of 7 and assign its return value to the variable processed.
Fazil
@faizilfanie
Aug 04 2017 12:49

@eweiss17 This is the other example: // Example
var changed = 0;

function change(num) {
return (num + 5) / 3;
}

Eric Weiss
@eweiss17
Aug 04 2017 12:50
ya but the relevant code (that is similar to what you need) is the line below that function
changed = change(10); I believe?
Call the change function with an argument of 10 and assign its return value to the variable changed.
I revised that to make it correct if that was the solution
Fazil
@faizilfanie
Aug 04 2017 12:52
@eweiss17 I tried this: processed = processedArg(7); but that didn't work neither did
processed = processedArg(7-2);
Unless it's vice versed which I'll try now
tundeiness
@tundeiness
Aug 04 2017 12:54
@heroiczero okay..will try that
Eric Weiss
@eweiss17
Aug 04 2017 12:54
processed = processedArg(7);
that is correct
but you mispelled the function
processArg not processedArg

hi all please I need help with a site i'm trying to build. But before I go on, a question please. is it possible to resize the whole semantic mockup of a site? or I can only do it for some element and not the whole site? if I can, How? Now I have a site. My mobile P.O.V is different from the wide screen POV. However in a bid to involve RWD I found out that my widescreen POV keeps overriding my mobile POV and if I remove the widescreen POV codes from my CSS the mobile POV takes over and if I resize it, it behaves truly like it was meant to. but once I re-introduce the widescreen POV at the mobile browser adaptation everything goes haywire. i.e the widescreen code kicks in. How do I solve this please? or do you have any material of combining both mobile first RWD and the widescreen counterpart? or any help you can render please.( POV = Point of view) here is the site

Also guys. noone to answer my question ? :(
I need to make this happen :

if(event1 && event2 triggered) executeHandler()

But the only way that i know of of adding an event handler is by using a listener like this

nodeElement.addEventListener(`event1`, eventHandler)
nodeElement.addEventListener(`event2`, eventHandler)

And this is not correct since i want the handler to execute only when both events happen at once

@unlimiworks i would think you could do something like
var events = { event1: false, event2: false };

function fire (event) {
  events[event] = true;
  if (events.event1 && events.event2) {
    // do whatever you were going to do when both fire
  }
  events = { event1: false, event2: false };
}
kind of exploiting a race case
Maddah Anass

Kyle Holm

Please can someone help me overcome this all I want to do is put my arrow down icon <i class="fa fa-angle-double-down bounce fa-4x"></I> in the centre rather than it being towards more towards the left side.

When I done some research the answer that I kept getting was that it could be off 1px due to it being a "dead pixel". Since I'm still very new to this I have never in-counted this before and I'm just feeling super confused with trying to understand this.

Furthermore, if we look at my code we can see that my arrow down icon <i class="fa fa-angle-double-down bounce fa-4x"></I> is nested into the class chevron-row. As a result of me writing the CSS to centre the arrow nested within the chevron-row I just don't understand why it's not in the dead centre.

Moreover,I have had someone go on the application photoshop and they drew a line down it to see if everything was in the centre and they said it was and I was having an "optical illusion". In addition, some people also noticed it was slightly more towards the left than the centre.

CODEPEN

Here is a picture of how it looks on my MacBook screen. I'm thinking since in my opinion it's not the current code I wrote could it be something to do with media queries and making it responsive or could it could it be something to do with it bouncing up/down?

@thekholm80 the problem with the fire function is that the if (events.event1 && events.event2) will never result to true since it'll be a new instance for each call

@Burinson
Aug 04 2017 21:40
It's still incomplete
you need something between the curly braces
{}
@stuartbiggs .
stuartbiggs
@stuartbiggs
Aug 04 2017 21:43
@Burinson ok I have changed my code a little and got some of it working now
its like this

var Bike = function() {

// Only change code below this line.

this.getGear = function() {};
this.setGear = function() {
return gear;

};

};

var myCar = new Car();

var myBike = new Bike();
var gear;

eeflores
@eeflores
Aug 04 2017 21:44
put the var gear declaration in the Bike object
and you'll want to return gear from the getGear() function
stuartbiggs
@stuartbiggs
Aug 04 2017 21:45
@eeflores ok
Uriel Guzmán
@Burinson
Aug 04 2017 21:46
@stuartbiggs Yep, your var gear is outside the Bike object
stuartbiggs
@stuartbiggs
Aug 04 2017 21:47
ok my code is like this now

var Bike = function() {

// Only change code below this line.

this.getGear = function() {};
this.setGear = function() {

return gear;

};

var gear = 4;

};

var myCar = new Car();

var myBike = new Bike();

Uriel Guzmán
@Burinson
Aug 04 2017 21:50
@stuartbiggs Okay, now you need to fill in this.getGear
The curly braces are empty
stuartbiggs
@stuartbiggs
Aug 04 2017 21:51
@Burinson ok
Uriel Guzmán
@Burinson
Aug 04 2017 22:02
@stuartbiggs How is it going?
stuartbiggs
@stuartbiggs
Aug 04 2017 22:24
not brilliant
@Burinson this is my code is so far

var Bike = function() {

// Only change code below this line.
var gear = 0;

this.setGear = function() {
  gear = addGear;

};

this.getGear = function() {
  return " "+ gear;
};

};

var myCar = new Car();

var myBike = new Bike();

myBike.setGear(5);
myBike.getGear(3);

Uriel Guzmán
@Burinson
Aug 04 2017 22:28
@stuartbiggs var gear = 0; You don't need to initialize it as zero, just make it var gear; for the sake of using it later in the function
this.setGear = function() { gear = addGear; Try giving the function a name, and then, instead of gear = addGear;, set gear as the function you just named
stuartbiggs
@stuartbiggs
Aug 04 2017 22:31
brb browser being a pain
Uriel Guzmán
@Burinson
Aug 04 2017 22:31
this.getGear = function() { return " "+ gear; }; You don't need to return " ", you just need a number, not a string. You only need the value of gear in that return statement
And lastly, myBike.setGear(5); myBike.getGear(3); why do you have 2 of these? You only need 1
You only need myBike.setGear(5);, delete myBike.getGear(3);
Uriel Guzmán
@Burinson
Aug 04 2017 22:37
You are going to call myBike.setGear();, myBike.getGear(); is already implied as the number you will return if you look closely
stuartbiggs
@stuartbiggs
Aug 04 2017 22:39
ok my code looks like this now

var Bike = function() {

// Only change code below this line.
var gear;

this.setGear = function() {
  gear = Gear;

};

this.getGear = function() {
  return + gear;
};

};

var myCar = new Car();

var myBike = new Bike();

myBike.setGear(5);

Uriel Guzmán
@Burinson
Aug 04 2017 22:40
return + gear; just return the gear, lol
literally

`this.setGear = function() {
gear = Gear;

};You still need to define the function. Hint:()`

`this.setGear = function() {
gear = Gear;

};You still need to define the function. Hint:()`

Wtf
stuartbiggs
@stuartbiggs
Aug 04 2017 22:42
ok I got changed gear = Gear; to just gear;
Uriel Guzmán
@Burinson
Aug 04 2017 22:42
Anyway, you're very close
Umm
gear = function name;
this.setGear = function(function name goes here)
stuartbiggs
@stuartbiggs
Aug 04 2017 22:43
can I call getGear ?
*it
Uriel Guzmán
@Burinson
Aug 04 2017 22:44
Call it something else
Unique for the function
num for example
stuartbiggs
@stuartbiggs
Aug 04 2017 22:44
so the code would look like
this.setGear = function num() { etc
Uriel Guzmán
@Burinson
Aug 04 2017 22:45

num goes inside parenthersis
