Aug 05 2017 01:07

@ydelbys Are you actually linking to an image?
@ydelbys Can we see your codepen?

@revisualize is it posible to upload the image to codepen?
Joseph

@ydelbys :(
@ydelbys You cannot upload to codepen.
You have to store the image somewhere else.

@Burinson you apply it to the body style like here where i have the name of the div you would put $("body").
$("#weatherDiv").prepend(`<h2 style = " text-align: center; color: white">The Current Weather in: <br> ${a.name}</h2><br>` + `<img id = "Weather-Icon" src="${a.weather[0].icon}"> </img>`);
you would append

grid code is more involved
well, it can be
that's what i like about it. a level of control not available in flexbox
however, if you rearrange the sort order in grid I think it causes problems, but flexbox doesn't

what are you trying to do @Lizangie ?
I don't see anything particularly wrong, although you shouldn't use center tags
those are deprecated, centering is done through CSS now
lizangie
@Lizangie
Aug 05 2017 02:45
I was trying to put all those buttons next to each other... but all of them align to right..... when i put the container fluid...
so I use center to center them but something tells me is wrong :smile: to do that
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Aug 05 2017 02:46
@alexanderkopke thanks, i hadn't read up on that yet. i always define functions before calling them, i guess that's just old practice now not necessary. good to see the variable initialization hasn't changed though

are you importing bootstrap?
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Aug 05 2017 02:49

@alexanderkopke but the way this is worded leads me to believe that you can initialize & use a variable before declaring it?

JavaScript only hoists declarations, not initializations. If you are using a variable that is declared and initialized after using it, the value will be undefined. The below two examples demonstrate the same behavior.

the way container works is that it will shift items around dynamically when you change window size
lizangie
@Lizangie
Aug 05 2017 02:51
I wan to do that ( buttons above)
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Aug 05 2017 02:51
@Trevor-Welch i created the necessary number of rows, sized the cells according to how many i wanted in each row, then used flexbox to lay it all out
actually, i don't think i created rows at all, i think i just used flex-wrap: wrap
Trevor Welch
@Trevor-Welch
Aug 05 2017 02:52
I used flexbox in this case too but the example shows multiple grid sizes. Making CSS for each grid size seems like too much.
Alexander Køpke
@alexanderkopke
Aug 05 2017 02:52
@thekholm80 hmm I guess initialization is when you set a variable to a value
lizangie
@Lizangie
Aug 05 2017 02:52
but of course since the buttons are much smaller the align till half page...so I use a container
Trevor Welch
@Trevor-Welch
Aug 05 2017 02:52
Yeah, I thought of that originally, but that wouldnt work if I scaled it up.
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Aug 05 2017 02:53
@alexanderkopke which i suppose is not really any different than using it
@Trevor-Welch why? it's just math

https://codepen.io/TrevorWelch/pen/ZJBwRe Take a look at my code. It works for any height and width for the grid, however it is very, very slow. Im looking for alternatives right now that dont take about 0.4 seconds to update a cell.

so by extension, if you want to use something and don't see it listed there, chances are it's not supported

is there a site which i insert a function and it tells me the earliest version it is supported?

just search the method and it will show you when it was added

for example, searching readyException()
in the blue box it says "Version Added 3.1"
