Hey everyone I was wondering if someone could give me some input on my tribute page mainly help
I'm working on my tribute page but I can't figure out how to make my img centered and to auto change size according to screen size
That's what I have so far
Eunice Park

Aug 06 2017 01:45
@jxshva Since you have Bootstrap 3, you can add the class img-responsive to your image in the HTML. This will make your image change according to screen size.
Then you can center your image by giving it a specific id/class in the HTML and then giving it a property of margin: auto in CSS.
@jxshva so this should be in your HTML:<img class="img-responsive pokemonClass" src="http://orig07.deviantart.net/4b37/f/2014/127/a/9/pokemon__ash_capture_pokemon__wallpaper__by_kill3rcombo-d7hjsj7.png">
And this should be in your CSS:
.pokemon {
    margin: auto;
}

and splice does not work on a string
i guess i can split the string in the array

Aug 06 2017 02:37
function findElement(arr, func) {
  console.log(arr);
  func(2);
console.log(func);
  var num = 0;
  return num;
}

findElement([1, 2, 3, 4], function(num) {
  return num % 2 === 0;
});
how come i can't use func as a callback? i dont see console.log(func)?

letter-spacing: 6px;
text-align: center;
width: 100%;
margin-top: 6px;
}

@korzo Do you know how i can change the blue highlight color to what i want on the input form?
korzo
@korzo
Aug 06 2017 03:01

@phoenix-burn
Here is code from bootstrap

.form-control:focus {
    border-color: #66afe9;
    outline: 0;
    -webkit-box-shadow: inset 0 1px 1px rgba(0,0,0,.075), 0 0 8px rgba(102,175,233,.6);
    box-shadow: inset 0 1px 1px rgba(0,0,0,.075), 0 0 8px rgba(102,175,233,.6);
}

so change border-color and box-shadow

@phoenix-burn for box-shadow it's last value rgba(102,175,233,.6)
@phoenix-burn it's #66afe9 with opacity 0.6

@Manpee Then go to http://fontawesome.io/icons/
There is a search box.
type in there what you are searching for (e.g. twitter, github...)
uder the box you'll see available icons matching your search term.
Click on icon you like
On next page you'll see icon and code for it like
<i class="fa fa-address-book-o" aria-hidden="true"></i>
Copy it to your link code

With flexbox, I tried to display image and corresponding text in the same row, like [image] [text], but didnt make it.
.flex-container {
padding:0;
margin:0;
list-style:none;
display: flex;
flex-direction: row;
flex-flow: row wrap;
justify-content: flex-start;
align-items: flex-start;
}
.flex-item {
padding:5px;
width:668px;
height: 451px;
order:2;
text-align: center;
font-family: monospace;
font-size: 15px;
color: black;
font-style : italic;
}
The above is my code. The text comes below the image repeatedly. What's wrong with my code?
What I want is:
Three rows of "[ image] [text]" alignment.

@girlcodecrush Alignment can be done in many ways. Be more specific.
@girlcodecrush styles are meant to go in the CSS code block on codepen. This makes things easier for us to read.
@girlcodecrush The JS is just adding more style? Very confusing.

@phoenix-burn I can't figure out the problem, but you should try validating your html and css files using validators, and also make sure its the same codes in codepen you're pushing to your gh-pages repo on github.

get rid of position: absolute;

it made the background image weird

it gets a little weird
Darth Skywalker
@AdiSkywalker
Aug 06 2017 12:43
Yes.. I'm looking at it right now
will send you my recommendations in a few mins
I got the problem
First thing is on your div with id="particles-js"
change it's class from jumbotron to container or container-fluid
second. on your .code-pirate
you have fixed padding of 100px on top and left.
this is applied irrespective of screen size
you need to write media query for this class
Emmanuel Akodia
@akodiaemma
Aug 06 2017 12:47
@AdiSkywalker how about if i was to use vw instead of pixels.... what do you think?
Darth Skywalker
@AdiSkywalker
Aug 06 2017 12:48
won't change a thing...
just do the standard way... Use media query
Emmanuel Akodia
@akodiaemma
Aug 06 2017 12:48
@AdiSkywalker alright let me check out media queries then get back to you bro
Darth Skywalker
@AdiSkywalker
Aug 06 2017 12:48
Second your markup organization is problematic
you have nav and then just random floating divs
It's like this as of now
<nav>
  <!-- Some brilliant nav-->
</nav>
<div id="particle-js">
</div>
<div again-some-div></div>
<div again-some-div></div>
<div again-some-div></div>
Wrap all the floating divs in a container-fluid
like
<nav>
  <!-- Some brilliant nav-->
</nav>
<div class="container-fluid">
  <div id="particle-js"></div>
  <div again-some-div></div>
  <div again-some-div></div>
  <div again-some-div></div>
</div>

Assignment always goes from right to left. Everything to the right of the = operator is resolved before the value is assigned to the variable to the left of the operator.

@Aperez007 python questions are best asked in the FCC python room: https://gitter.im/FreeCodeCamp/python but I don't think anyone has been online in there this weekend. If you have the latest version of python try installing using pip3 rather than pip. If you are on Linux and using pip to install, if you aren't specifying the specific path you want to install flask to since pip does a global install, you need to sudo to get the appropriate permissions to install on a global level.

@daddycardona Your flexbox CSS is preventing that from happening.

    display: flex;

^^ That needs to be applied to a single element that wraps the content you want to vertically center

Where is your p tag?

Gulsvi
@gulsvi
Aug 06 2017 20:22
@ldangelo41 Looks like you have a period after 'Serif' instead of a comma:
p {
  font-family: 'Serif'. Avant-Garde;
  font-weight: 600;
  color: #A9A9A9;
}
You'll need to get rid of your <center> tags too - those are deprecated, use text-align: center instead
And, you'll probably need to be as specific as bootstrap:
.jumbotron p {
  color: #A9A9A9;
  font-family: 'Serif', Avant-Garde;
  font-weight: 600;
  text-align: center;
}

Both the paragraph and the image are in <div class='jumbotron'> but separated with <div class='col-xs-8'><p></p></div> and <div class='col-xs-4'><img></div> inside the parent element with class='jumbotron'. So they are in the same container in that sense but cannot put the img inside <div class='col-xs-8'> or else bootstrap grid system will not behave correctly. @razvanlikespizza

May I know what "par"and "strokes" means? I dont have any ideea.
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Aug 06 2017 22:43
if a hole is "Par 3" that means to make "par" you have to get the ball in the hole in 3 shots
2 shots on a par 3 is a 'birdie', 1 shot is a "Hole in One", 4 shots is a 'Bogey', 5 shots is a 'Double Bogey'

Margaret

Aug 06 2017 23:15
@razvanlikespizza answer = alpha; is not right because when you type a word without quotes, that's a variable. and there's no variable named alpha
so you have to use quotes for it to be a string
Razvan
@razvanlikespizza
Aug 06 2017 23:16
I did it..But dont understand it @Margaret2
case 1 ,means if val === 1?
switch (val) {
case 1:
answer = "alpha";
break;
Margaret
@Margaret2
Aug 06 2017 23:17
essentially
Razvan
@razvanlikespizza
Aug 06 2017 23:17
How does it know if my val its 1?
Margaret
@Margaret2
Aug 06 2017 23:17
that's just how the switch statement works, when you say switch (xyz), it checks the value of xyz and matches it up with the right case
Razvan
@razvanlikespizza
Aug 06 2017 23:18
case 1 checks if val = 1?
Margaret
@Margaret2
Aug 06 2017 23:19

but you can't say switch (val) and then case val === 1 because if val is actually one, that's like saying case true

If <label for="#"> designates assignment to <input id="#">, what is the point of adding a name attribute to <input>?
Razvan
@razvanlikespizza
Aug 06 2017 23:38
@serpad If you have multiple labels
Male
Female
Animal
If they have DIFFERENT NAMES you can select all of them,if they HAVE THE SAME name you can select just 1.
This in the case of radio buttons. If not...uhm...to identify it I think.

If I give <ul> a class declaration that automatically assigns all of the <li> to that class, right? Trying to avoid as many unnecessary <div>s as possible.
