I'm also having some trouble with the D3 beta challenges... Particularly, the Add Inline Styling to Elements. I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right (.style("font-family","verdana")), but maybe I'm not? The font changes, but the challenge tells me that it still fails because "Your h2 elements should have a font-family of verdana."

Ok. The next challenge is also failing, though the appropriate elements change colors. Not just me then, and not just you, @danielyrigney. Thanks for pointing out that it's an open issue, I'll stop banging my head against it and move on with the challenges. =)

I'm reading the MDN docs for the replace() method and I don't understand the syntax in one example.
Specifically this line return (offset ? '-' : '') + match.toLowerCase();
Can someone please explain?
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/String/replace
function styleHyphenFormat(propertyName) {
  function upperToHyphenLower(match, offset, string) {
    return (offset ? '-' : '') + match.toLowerCase();
  }
  return propertyName.replace(/[A-Z]/g, upperToHyphenLower);
}

styleHyphenFormat('borderTop') // returns 'border-top'.

@eunipa offset ? '-' : '' is a ternary operator, have you seen those before?

@thekholm80 thank you so much for identifying what those symbols are. I don't believe I have.
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Sep 07 2017 03:34 UTC
basically it says
if (offset) {
  return '-'  + match.toLowerCase();
} else {
  return ''  + match.toLowerCase();
}
ternaries are pretty handy. condition ? true : false

hey guys what value can I set my data.stream equal so that my else if statement returns my desired info?

$(function(){
  var users = ["ESL_SC2", "freecodecamp", "noobs2ninjas", "realisticgamingyoutube"];
  var i = 0;
  while (i<users.length){
   $.ajax({
    type: 'GET',
    url: 'https://wind-bow.glitch.me/twitch-api/streams/'+users[i]+'/',
    success: function(data) {
      if (data.stream === null){
        console.log('offline')
        } else if (data.stream === true){
        console.log(data.stream.game + ', '+data.stream.stream_type)
        }
      }
    })
    i++
  }
});

it works when I remove the else if statement and just leave as an else statement, but am curious to know what value i can enter with an else if statement

Hey guys, new to coding here. There is a set of codes that im not particularly clear on.
function signal(lowerB, upperB, values){
// Returning errors
if(lowerB > upperB){
throw 'invalid bounds';
}
else if(values != []){
throw 'invalid sequence';
}

// For not crossing bound (low/upper)
if(lowerB<values<upperB){
return [];
}
}
The question requires me to return an empty array when the sequence does not cross any bound. Crossing occurs when a bound is between two consecutive numbers in the sequence. The current code is as above, and is correct until the //For not crossing bound area. Any one kind enough to give some tips?

ehy guys i just psaaed a algoritm challenge
that im not sure should have worked
function findElement(arr, func) {
  var num = 0;
  for(let i = 0; i < arr.length; i++){
    if(arr[i] % 2 == 0){
      num = arr[i];
      break;
    }else if(arr[i] % 2 != 0){
      num = undefined;
    }
  }
  return num;
}

findElement([1, 2, 3, 4], function(num){ return num % 2 === 0; });
returns 2 but the challenge says should return 8
but i also think it should return 2
hey guys i just passed*
algorithm
i see
whatthey wanted
still tho

@ericmiller777 i dont remember that one. is that challenge in fcc?
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Sep 07 2017 21:17 UTC
@ericmiller777 - I think that you should be using func inside your findElement function, no?
Eric Miller
@ericmiller777
Sep 07 2017 21:17 UTC
tes
but it works the way i did it
its the same thing
the thing thats wrong is that it says the answer should be 8
the answer is 2
and 2 works its just a text mess up I think
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Sep 07 2017 21:20 UTC
@ericmiller777 - the tests that they have show this: findElement([1, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10], function(num) { return num % 2 === 0; }) should return 8. - so if you have the set of arguments that you have which is not one of the actual test cases, 2 is correct, but for the set of inputs that they have in the test list, the first one should return 8, since that is the first even number in the array [1, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10]. The second test case has no even numbers, so it should return undefined.
@ericmiller777 - what you did is equivalent, but you should be using the function, at least that appears to be the intent of the exercise. They should have some additional test cases that would require that you use the test function, in my opinion.

thats a bootsrap row
watch this it will teach you a lot aboyt bootstrap
your probably going to want touse
container
then your going to want your picture to be in a row
with the text
make surte you set your viewport
im sorry if this is overwhelming
you could probably get a rough version of what you want doing it another way, but for all future projects this will help you a lot
